    I actually tried dis move tonight (6-21-2024) in kyokushin sparring, or a variation of it and it worked! Unfortunately, I think it resulted in da expulsion of a student who caught my kick as he was kinda mad he caught it, but dat's not relevant.
    What I did was da first blitz variation into a left turning high kick; i.e. *right cross fake from orthodox stance, step in diagonal 2 my right an' throw da left cross from southpaw stance, and from dat angle I threw my left turning high kick and landed a little too clean.* I won't say what happened some time afterwards; no it wasn't a brawl, but... yeah.
    In short, dis is one of those moves Imma b practicing in other types of sparring as well; not just kyokushin.

    Out of curiosity because I only really know my style so far: Is it usual in yours to have the back heel lifted from the ground on impact of your strike, or was this an alteration for the sake of practicality in a real fight?

    • @honigdachs.
      @honigdachs. 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Heel on the ground is always taught religiously in kihon and kata, but in real application, that ideal has to go. Whether it's point karate competition, Kyokushin full contact, boxing, kickboxing, you'll see that in practice the heel is always lifted because you're never gonna be able to shorten the distance and drive the momentum of the punch otherwise.

    • @sirmeon1231
      @sirmeon1231 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@honigdachs. i disagree on the word "religiously" here because it has a real mechanical reason that absolutely makes sense.
      The rest sounds right and indeed I have heard something along those lines quite a few times. That was why this was my first assumption, so this is a demonstration with practical adjustments and the punches do not represent kata form of his karate style.

      Shotokan. Originally known as shorin ryu. Although shotokan is slightly more modernized, but the actual founder of the art did not call it shotokan. Some of his later students named it that.

      @willtherealrustyschacklefo3812 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Which is technically the 3rd oldest style. Although Shorin ryu (shotokan) was more established and more widely practiced, Goju ryu is actually 40-50 years older, and was the first style in Okinawa. just more obscure. However Korean Karate (tang Soo do) is actually 1,200 years older than Okinawan karate. Most don't know that. Tang soo do was actually developed in the 600s ad from the same already existing Chinese arts. , while Goju ryu was first established in Okinawa in the late 1800s and shorin ryu in the early 1900s.

    • @yamiyomizuki
      @yamiyomizuki 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@willtherealrustyschacklefo3812 tan soo do is nowhere near 600 years old and was very much derived from karate, mostly from shotokan in fact. koreans will probably tell you differently but they will also tell you that hapkido is a style that existed in Korea for 100s of years and that is also completely false. there were techniques of unarmed combat recorded in the muyegedobotongji, which probably have Chinese origins but that's not tang soo do and it's less than 300 years old. before that there was taekyon, which is the only truly Korean martial art. for what it's worth I don't actually think the martial arts karate is based on go back 600 years. we know that karate in Okinawa primarily derives from fujian white crane, which is old, but not that old. most Chinese styles that still exist date to the wing dynasty with some that date back to the ming dynasty. there were martial arts before that of course but aside from shuaijiao we don't have much record of them.
