    I never used to listen to classical music, but one day I was studying for an exam I put some classical music on to help me focus. After studying for a couple hours I fell asleep listening to Fantasie Impromptu, and I this amazing dream about colors.I can't even describe to you how beautiful, how vibrant those colors were but it was dazzling. After that I started listening to more classical music but this piece will always hold a place in my heart because of those breathtakingly beautiful colors it evoked in my head.

    I have listened to many versions of this most famously played Impromptu. What I like most about this performance is the feeling of freshness, lightness, simplicity, naturalness and zero artificiality. The rubato is so subtle and perfect. So many others over accentuated, and with needless sudden changes in tempo and dynamics, cause the attention to be drawn to the the performer. The beauty of the music became secondary to the performance.

  • @MacawEntertainment

    It wasn't so much that he "hated" the piece. He never intended for this piece to go public. In fact, it was one of his dying wishes that it be destroyed. He composed this piece around 1835 and he regretted it because he believed it sounded too much like Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. He didn't want to be criticized by the public for not being original. We actually have Julian Fontana to thank for saving this work. It was Mr. Fontana who was requested to burn the score, but he held on to it and 6 years after Chopin died, he had it published. Just imagine how many masterpieces have been lost throughout history. Likely some of the most incredible music ever written has been lost in time, never to be heard again. I'm thankful for people like Julian Fontana, who saw what the composer could not and because of that, he saved a brilliant work of art. I'm sure if Chopin knew how well this piece would have been received, he would have released it himself.

      this is wrong the piece too closely resembled Ignaz Moscheles - Impromptu in E flat major. Moscheles was a famous composer of chopin's era but an even more famous scholar, influencing more composers than audiences. This piece was an homage to that piece and Chopin respected Ignaz Moscheles too much to release this work and over shine the original given how much better Chopin's work was.
      I know this comment was made ages ago but if someone sees this pls give love to Moscheles and other composers of that time, they had a major influence on people like schumann and chopin and helped cultivate the majority of well known romantic pieces behind the scenes.

You should not be treated like this. But you still work hard to promote classical music in your country even you have suffered that much. You should move to another place where people love you and respect you. You deserved to be loved. Always support you Yundi.

      people who criticized him in china are asses
      they just love to watch someone fall into obscurity and watch someone suffer
      pretending to reject sexuality from surviving,while fundamentally they preached sexuality(marriage,giving birth to children,and stuffs),which made no sense at all.
      They are just targeting at yundi (Safe to say that ccp is targeting yundi).
      But to be fair though,i think yundi ruined his life himself because he basically gave up on his pianist career after he joined the actor circle.So his influence was much weaker than before and people were able to take this advantage and attack him.

      "Safe to say that ccp is targeting Yundi" And why is that? Just cuz he joined the actor circle? Lmao you think a government that has pushed its country's development infinitely faster than the US has the spare time to deal with a -musician- clown who can't even memorize moonlight 3rd mvmt?

    Yundi Li playstyle is special cause he made a few notes go subtle and then strong sounds during between. While usually we would be happy enough to get the right notes at the right speed

    A definite Bruce Lee of the piano. Man, what a powerful and yet brilliantly crisp strokes. This man has no a single secret left about the instrument and the rest is just freely expressed feelings and emotions. I envy him, not for the fame, money and glory, but for the freedom to express himself with such ease. Bravo!

    I read somewhere that Chopin himself thought this piece was trash. Amazing to think that because it's such an awesome piece of music. It can bring tears in my eyes. Just shows how incredible Chopin was and how high his standards were.

    • @4Topwood
      @4Topwood 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chopin composed this when he was 19, I think. Later he felt it was a youthful effort, lacking the subtlety and complexity of his mature works.

    • @dantevip
      @dantevip 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It's because he thought people were going to think it was copied back from Beethoven's moonlight sonata. That's why he considered to destroy it. there are parts in this piece that are actually close or very close to Beethoven's in terms of melody.

    • @captainplane398
      @captainplane398 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When u compose music and hear the same melodies over and over again, eventually you get used to all the surprise and beauty. Considering it’s complexity, and the time there was before this song was released, he probably became numb to the magic of the piece.

    • @wanderingpalace
      @wanderingpalace 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      basically the composer is only the receptor to the outer reality (samith) that which contains everything(any tangible,untangible stuffs/ideas
      of course he is gonna get numb because hes only the receptor

    Замечательное исполнение! Многие пианисты грешат чрезмерным rybato.Пианист Yundi Li обладает хорошим чувством вкуса и не допускает ничего лишнего.Всё выверено до мелочей.Каждый звук на вес золота! В его игре мне понравилось всё: и виртуозные крайние части,и лирическая середина.Этого пианиста ожидает большое будущее!!!

    Have I died and gone to live with the Immortals in some Heavenly Paradise? If I were to go blind, or become paralyzed, or lose my ability to speak, I would fondly spend the rest of my mortal life dreaming and floating amongst the clouds with Chopin and the Angels. Sublime! Enchanting! That such nuanced feeling, such tenderness, such longing, such vulnerability and yet such amazing power can be expressed through the keys of a single instrument, never ceases to inspire my soul and uplift my spirit, and leave my heart longing for more!
