    Why so many dislikes? His performance was insightful, exciting, and technically flawless (as always). The cinematography might unsettle more conservative viewers, but I found it refreshing to see something different to the usual piano video. TH-cam is an audio-visual medium after all, so it's great to see the latter component given some real consideration.

    • @melieprotat5034
      @melieprotat5034 6 ปีที่แล้ว +100

      francisco malaca The thing is, this is his interpretation. He wants you to feel everything he plays and make you dream the story he imagines. The way a piece of music like this differs from one to the other is the authenticity- the interpretation. You can imagine whatever you want when you hear the piece but don't take away his right to interpret it his own way.

      Luke Faulkner Again, don't presume that the people who dislike the video aren't A) fans of Trifonov and/or B) fans of adventurous classical music - videos. I personally love Trifonov and rate him first among his generation. I also love artists that put a greater emphasis on video direction.

    this is the most stunning performance of ANY Chopin piece I’ve ever heard. It is simply breathtaking. The way he plays with so much melancholy and dread makes it seem like he will never play this piece again after this. It feels like a farewell. Insane interpretation. I could immediately tell that THIS is how the piece should be played. If you really think that Chopin wouldn’t have applauded this, then you will simply never truly understand music. Bravo.

    Daniil Trifonov is an awesome pianist. I cannot imagine anyone playing this pieces as brilliantly as he does here. Every note is crystal clear. BUT WHEN are video-makers going to realise that when a virtuoso piece is being played, one of the great pleasures for piano-lovers is to see the fingers at work??? This video was so frustrating because it made the music seem like a mere background to the rather muddled dramatics. It makes me wonder whether video producers are genuine piano-lovers at all! Thumbs up for Daniil' thumbs down for the production.

He isn’t rigid in keeping the time which gives this piece much more life in my opinion The 4:3 polyrhythm that is employed in this piece is very difficult to master. But the way he alters the tempo in different parts of the piece to me, really brings life to it in a new way. Also, the way this video was shot was brilliant. It really tells a story. I’ve had this score in my sheet music collection since school days. Never played it. I’m nearly 60 and play by ear . I’m going to learn it now. This guy nails it beautifully.

    Best version i've heard of this piece. So sensitif and healing to my heart & soul. Notes sound like divine melodie, profoundly musically. Like water falling, stars shining in the sky or sparkling diamonds. This is angels music, celestial...Passion at it's highest ! Outstanding. Bravo maestro!

      Actually, Chopin never wanted people to see this. He asked for all unpublished pieces to be burned after hos death. It was published after his death anyway, it didn’t get burned.
      Good for us, we get great music!
      Not good for the people who discovered it, because Chopin is ready to beat the heck out of the people who discovered these manuscripts, although I wouldn’t frankly.

    I remember watching this like 3 years ago when I was pretty new to classical music. I had no idea who Trifinov was, or really very much about classical music, I just knew fanatsie impromptu. But I remember thinking how ridiculously good this rendition was, and now that I've found it again I would still have to agree.

    For art performances like this, life is worth living...
    This is a superb interpretation of Chopin's masterpiece! Maestro Daniil Trifonov really understood the mood of every passage, extracting from the partiture the deep emotional expressiveness imprinted in such a great piece of magistral music.
    Bravo!!!
