Thanks for the mention of System X. It may be sooner than 2026, it may be later. I'm sticking with it for the moment until I get to stage where most of the major routines are working and then I will decide whether I just stick with this project or switch back to Tiki. At the moment I'm making some good progress, so I've no desire to switch back for the next few weeks.
Not too many games of interest this month, but I purchased Wilf and it's very solid. It's very simple, but well made at the same time. The upcoming Timo's Castle looks good, which I imagine will appear next month. Great work as always and Coders Corner is a nice additon. I have not interest in coding for the C64 or anything else to be honest, but I always that sort of stuff interesting. I do have interest in creating a game though. I bought Fusion about a year ago and haven't found the time to even install it, so I'm off to a rocky start.
Timo's Castle does look like a quality budget style game. I haven't been privy to any previews so I am looking forward to playing it. Like yourself, I also had the intention to learn how to code or at least produce gfx and purchased all the relevant tools but just haven't found the time and motivation to sit down properly and start learning.
Great to see a new video. I think it would be cool if you put the games you cover in order of how much you enjoyed them.Like a top ten or something like that. Great stuff as always and the developer corner was awesome. Thanks for putting this stuff together!
Thank you for another roundup, and for telling us about the new games. I feel bad for the developers when you opine that you won't play their efforts "a second time". Well, that's the world of criticism! The Coder's Corner is a welcome addition.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Yes, I don't enjoy highlighting games that are not worth playing for more than 10-15 minutes. But I do this in an effort to motivate each new release to be something better. If we just say that everything is good then what we end up with is a modern day scene with shovelware quality games.
I showcase a demo every now and then but I find most of them to be dull unfortunately. Something with a story is great but those that are tech only don't do anything for me.
Interesting idea, I don't really have any contacts from older coders and based on the interviews that Freeze64 puts out with them, I am not sure they would be in a position to produce relevant content in a video format.
Is it possible to buy the book from an other provider than Amazon? I would like to buy the e-book version of the 8-bit programmer book but it seems it is only available on Kindle :-'. Is there an e-pub version of it?
th-cam.com/video/tvi_xzZJ0HQ/w-d-xo.html For the game Alpacalypse, there are things that have not been said. There is a selection of difficulty level settings. If you take the highest difficulty the loss of energy is greater when you hit an obstacle. Also, the game becomes difficult from the 3rd level where you must choose to be hit by the obstacle that gives the least damage to pass. I find that the conclusion does not take into account all the elements of the game, which shows that the game is tested in a hurry.
Sorry to say that the game was played through thoroughly and the additional items you refer to do not make it more enjoyable. Sometimes saying less about a game is better.
Aah, that was it! I wondered why he did not mention Fort Apocalypse in the first game and thought, maybe he is only allowed to have one "heavly inspired" mention per video and he used that for this Bio-Shooter platform game, But if there is another game named "Alpacalypse" then everything is clear now ;-)
I'm a retro gamer and do not ever download games or anything from a computer If I'm playing atari I'm playing on a 2600 a 5200 or Colecovision if u download a game even if the game is the same game it's not retro gaming u must play on an original system foe it to be retro
@arlasoft u must be from England using the word" bullocks" but it's simple to just go on a computer and play retro games but it's not truly retro if u are playing on retro games on a computer if u want to be a retro gamer stop being cheap and go purchase a c64 or a Colecovision the game and the system had to be original if not ur not truly a retro gamer that's just being lazy anyone can play retro games on a computer I ha e done in the past and I always feel funny doing it and it never brings me back to my childhood which retro gaming is supposed to do it's supposed give u the feeling of doing what u once did playing a a computer does not!give u that no matter what
@arlasoft If I was to play an arcade game on a computer it's not the same as playing on an arcade machine like when I was a kid in the late 70s and 80s it's just not the same u have to admit that
fwiw I don't like the AI art. I'm generally not keen on it anywhere, but it's particularly out of place on a retro gaming channel. (unlike the excellent C64 pixel art in this video)
great! I especially liked the inclusion of coder's corner!
Thanks, glad you liked the new section. I hope more coders will be willing to jump in with content.
I like the fact that Carleton Handley not only programmed Spinning Image, but also the C64 version of Spitting Image back in the 80s.
Coders Corner is such a great idea! I wonder if we could get some coding lessons going on later? Whatever is the answer - thank you co much!
Rule 1 is you must have a goto 10 line somewhere in every program.
Would be great if I can at least make coders corner a semi regular thing.
Awesome as ever - the authority in C64 games news 🙂

Hey Louie. Thanks for the small preview of "Cult of Nonsense". Fingers crossed for a release this year.
Excellent video as usual ! And coders corner is such a brilliant idea!
thx 4 da video and for keepin' the c64 spirit alive. Kudos to all programmers who still use the c64.
Coders corner despite being slightly overwhelming with the amount of knowledge and information that was given it was more than worth listening to.😊
Great episode. Really liked the coders corner section and the sid was top notch.
4:35 MAGIC EYE!! uncross your eyes and u can see the background in 3D! Seriously try it
I tried it but didn’t see anything.
Excellent video!

Fantastic! And the Coder's Corner is an excellent addition.
Kokotoni Wilf looks like it'll be a big improvement over the original.
Coders Corner is so interesting and so well done!
Exited for your next Round up
Glad you like the content, things are a bit slow at the moment but looks like I have enough content for a late May/early June video.
Kokotoni Wilf was such a weird game when I played it as a kid 😅

@@RetroGamerNation I looked up the SID collection thanks to your highlighting, too.
Arkon Blaze seems awesome! Can't wait to try it!
Love these videos!
Great Stuff.
+1 on the coder's corner
I love this one !!!
Bring in the demosceners!

@@RetroGamerNation I'm a big fan of the new programming segment. Can you find some of the oldies, like the guy who made Castles of Dr Creep?

No it's not unfortunately. I checked with Silvan and he confirmed that it's only available in the kindle format.

@@RetroGamerNation It's true that I'm getting a little carried away because this is just your opinion..

Yes, I tend to agree with you on the AI images. It did stick out to me when reviewing the end edit.
