Shift is an amazing idea. Very creative and fun to play as well. I also loved Timo's Castle, partly because I played a lot of Henry's House as a kid. If Tony had more contemporary jump mechanics I'd be willing to pay 10 euros for it, but as it is I don't think it's worth it. Great video again. Thanks a lot for the work!
That FLT demo was fantastic. I loved the design of the characters, the storyline and the humour. Timo's Castle looks lovely too. Brightly colourful without being garish, and full of neat, clear detail. I hope the July edition includes details of the new Indiegogo campaign for brand new breadbin C64 cases. The cases will be available various colours, including crystal clear, blue, green, black, white and purple.
I backed the breadbin case, have no idea what colour to choose. Not sure if the campaign will still be going by the time I put out the next video in August. I have a neat addon to showcase in that video but very little else at this stage.
Thanks for the video! So, I also picked up breadbox and it works much better on my gaming laptop with much less controller lag. Timo's Castle looks rather fun and Tony reminds me quite a bit of Montazuma's Revenge. I might have to pick both of those up.
Bummer to hear about a break as a fan but very much understand. Go have fun and relax good sir, thanks for all the content you bring us and looking very forward to your return!
Thank you, things tend to slow down C64 activity wise over the northern hemisphere summer period and I do want to ensure each C64 Round Up contains a certain level of quality content. Admittedly, time availability and motivation is not what it used to be for me either and I will only work on producing a video when I am enjoying doing so rather than feeling that I 'have to do it'. Hope you enjoy your upcoming summer.
I like how c64 pixel-art is getting more petscii! if the quorra portrait is done by hand (and not by converter of some sort) it's creative in a whole new way of doing gfx! The l337 demo is something else. The soundtrack, gfx and story are out of this world (notice that sounds that simulates the talking, even the meow from the cat!), and then there's the coding showoff! Just can't get enough!
Tony is very good. I really enjoyed the demo. Their strategy of releasing to everything makes it feel like ive been drowned in Tony news for absolutely ages though 😂
I think many who follow the scene do get weary of constant re-promotion of upcoming titles. I think devs think this is a good thing to do mainly because it appears that it works for Sarah Jane Avory and her C64 titles, but this is more to do with her having a super loyal fan base rather than something we all want.
Just wondering, what tools do graphic artists use to make pixel art today? Is it just a preference, like some do it in, say, Photoshop and convert it, and others use a dedicated pixel art tool? If they do it in Photoshop and convert it, is that considered cheating?
Sky Saviour looks fairly interesting for a quick go 🤔 interesting idea. Timo looks worth a go...nice graphics. Backgrounds are a bit too foregroundy on some of the levels shown though. Thanks for the episode, i enjoyed it. The demo was just truly incredible.
Breadbox is a good idea in principle but I feel charging for an frontend that has very noticeable input lag even in early access seems like something of a joke. How this fancy frontend manages just make C64 emulation look like a difficult task I don't know and it's minimum requirements seem to suggest it is currently really poorly optimised. It's a nice idea but I can't see too many people using it beyond curiosity.

I was really surprised that Breadbox required such high spec machines to run smoothly. I am equally surprised that the dev decided to pursue Breadbox considering that it probably holds the record for one of the worst performing Indiegogo crowd funding campaigns (it only achieved 1% of its target).
Timo's Castle looks great! And that Fairlight demo is jaw-dropping, esp. its art style and music.

The demo was just WOW. ❤❤❤
Lovely work with this round up as ever, and thank you very much for featuring my tune! 😄
"Get in the Van" is a great tune. Good to hear from you, Louie. Thanks for the video!
Great to see Shift ported to the c64. I use to play this game on my Android phone a few years ago.
The PCB Ghost art 😮 several of the others are absolutely stunning too. Wow.
Such a great roundup as usual, it was over too quickly!
I would watch an hour of this every month and not get bored.
breadbox seems more of a novelty thing than anything really useful. Cheers for keeping us all updated.
I tend to agree with you here. I can’t say that I have been tempted to play around with it any further since the recording of the video.
@@RetroGamerNation reminds me of a tech demo than a useable program. Still interesting though, not sure if id want to pay for it.
Ha, McDonald's theme when you pick up the fries (or chips) in Timo!

Thanks Erik, yes I suspected that the simulator would work smoothly on some form of high end setup and its good of you to confirm.
Another excellent round-up. I really appreciated the dedication to Cam.

It should be fun and not a compulsory task. After all, it's just a hobby.

Both the video and the effort were enjoyable to see
have a great summer!
As usual, cracking episode.
Breadbox looks fun but the lag is a shame. Really enjoyed playing Timo's Castle and Broken Mirror this month.
"Idiot!" was wonderful! I like it because it had an idea.
The Fairlight demo is amazing
Agreed. Truly stunning. I am amazed by it.
Thank you great video
Great stuff!

Love a demo with a great story
It was incredible ❤
That demo is insane! Wow!
Agreed 😮😮😮😮😮

I am hoping to have a future Coder's Corner section dedicated to current day gfx tools.
That tune on the gallery 😘👌
very good!!

Thanks so much for sharing your views. I am always keen to hear of each person's own perspective on these releases.
Does using two tone graphics increase resolution? That Tkny game looks sharp!
Auto correct is crazy. I meant “that Tony game”
It's the Hi-res mode that makes the image sharp and you can only use 2 colours in hi-res, 1 colour for foreground and another for background.

Drip is an old PD Amiga game: th-cam.com/video/ZCtUTW-HW6A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4ZCL2tEvsBICpg1U
Gotta love how Biden is portrayed as a zombie LOL
Portrayed? Looked normal to me 😂
Tony has too much of a ZX vibe for me.
Fun fact: I dunno who C. Davis was.
Cameron Davis (Gazunta) was a cartoonist and writer for RESET 64, the Australian fanzine. He was also a games developer. He will be sadly missed.
@@merman1974thanks. This info should always be included in RIP pieces IMO
