    That pure voice & that bass rift, 80's music cannot be beat with today's music!! Mike Reno's powerful voice is true & will never be replicated.

    One of the BEST bands of 80's!!!!

    • @Firearcher4
      @Firearcher4 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No they were not and I say that as a fan of the band. Their first 2 albums were fantastic and they nose dived after that. By definition they were not one of the best bands but for 2 years they were a pretty decent band.

    • @SKRooU2
      @SKRooU2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Firearcher4 they played stadiums and were one of the biggest bands on rotation on MTV and sold millions of albums in the 80's. How can you say that BS ?

    • @Firearcher4
      @Firearcher4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SKRooU2 They put out TWO albums and that gives them the status of "Best Band"??? Here are some other bands /artists who enjoyed far more success than Loverboy did during the 1980's: Ozzy Osbourne, April Wine, Duran Duran, Elton John, Bangles, Heart, The Police, Depeche Mode, Def Leppard, Rolling Stones, KISS, John Cougar, ACDC, Rod Stewart, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Motley Crue, Olivia Newton John, Prince, Rush and Van Halen. There were too many other bands who were simply far more popular and commercially successful than Loverboy from 1980-1989. Loverboy WAS one of the most popular groups in 1981/1982, for 2 years. I would agree with that. Their album Get Lucky was fantastic and helped garner air play for their first album. But their 3rd album Keep It Up was so so and it got worse after 1983. Loverboy was a good 80's band and were at one time my favorite band but in retrospect and if I am being honest were not "One of the best" for 10 years. Duran Duran would likely get my vote for #1 Best Band of the 80's. Their 1st album came out in 1980. They had 3 brilliant albums from 1980-1983, had many music videos and put out decent music and remained popular from 1984-1989.

      @@Firearcher4 much of what you said is subjective opinion not mere facts

    • @Firearcher4
      @Firearcher4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SKRooU2 Yes I agree mostly. And so is what you said. Liking a band is subjective. Adding up $$$$$ for record sales is not.
      Loverboys albums:
      #1 LOVERBOY - In Canada peak position 17, sales 500,000
      #2 GET LUCKY - In Canada peak position 8, sales 300,000
      #3 KEEP IT UP - In Canada peak position 9 - sales 200,000
      #4 Lovin Every Minute of It- In Canada peak position 22, sales 100,000
      #5 Wildside , In Canada peak position 21, sales 50,000
      "Greatest Band of the 80's" ?? "One of the best of the 80's"
      Really? This is your measuring stick. Not one album made top 5 in Canada EVER. So what facts do you have that qualify this band as among the BEST for 1980-1989.
      Madonna, one of the artists I named (FYI I hate Madonna) reached peak 3 in Canada and sold 1 million copies. Like a Prayer hit #1 and sold 500,000 in Canada. She is not even Canadian but sold far more than Loverboy.
      Loverboy was a fantastic band from 1980 to 1982. NO argument there. But there are 7 more years left in the decade and they tanked after that. Keep It up was a decent average album but then their next two quite frankly sucked. Many other bands remained relevant the full 10 years.

    One of the best bands throughout the 80s!! So many greats songs from hard rock to ballads. I don't think think they were/are considered a hair band. They are just a great band I would still go and see.

    Sens du rythme et des mélodies.
    Tout ce qui a fait le charme de ces groupes canadien de la fin des années 70 aux années 80.
    Je suis français mais j'aime toujours autant ces groupes :
    Loverboy, Orphan, Wrabit, April Wine, Harlequin et bien d'autres

    David Letterman on bass before he became a comedian! Seriously, the world misses Scott Smith with fine musicianship in original Loverboy. Loverboy in concert was indeed a serious rock band with excellent shows.

    2:44 Scott Smith’s intensity cracks me up at this part in the video. Sadly, he died in 2000 when his sailboat was hit by a rogue wave and he was swept overboard without a life jacket on. They never found his body. RIP
