There is definitely hope! I don’t think it’s about changing your personality, it’s about finding ways to evolve your innate traits. Self-improvement doesn’t need to mean a change, I like to think of it as levelling-up what’s already there. I believe strongly that it’s about finding a way to make the mandatories work for you and that approach might need to be unique depending on who you are (there’s nothing wrong with that). For example, do you actually need to connect with folks in order to advance your career? Is it truly a mandatory? It’s not a bad idea to understand the implications of not doing it. I would guess that you probably *could* advance in your career without it, but depending on what it is - it might take much longer and be more difficult over time. If you’re interested in doing a deep dive, I personally found a lot of value from Dale Carnegie's book “How to Win Friends and Influence People”. I hope that helps!
