  • In episode 2 of Autism Unhinged, Jake and I discuss the need for structure and organisation and what happens when we are thrown off track.
We also talk about the stress caused by being late for school and how someone with autism can react when a journey is taking longer than they first planned.
I get a little bit emotional dropping him off for his second day at secondary school because despite being very grown up for an 11-year-old, he just seems so vulnerable amongst the year 11s and the sixth formers.
As an autistic child surrounded by hundreds of people he doesn't know, I could see the fear in him a mile away. This meant that when he came out, for once, he was not up for talking.
