We love you Tamara, you seriously are the most amazing vlogger i come across on youtube, this is why i keep saying what i say all the time just to make you aware of how amazing you are and the amount of hard work and effort you put in these vlogs, you deserve all the credit
I bought the DJI pocket 3 without the combo when it came out and I’m glad I waited for the stand alone Mic 2. It has extra features that the one that came in the combo didn’t have. I think that it’s the perfect companion for the pocket 3 cause now two people can have a mic and it’s more discreet while filming in public. Where I live people will kick you out of a place if you have a camera.
DJI products really are amazing, the raise the bar every time. Looking forward to the next video because I recently bought a Rode, and now I want the DJI Mic 2......
An absolutely fantastic breakdown between the two. I keep getting asked about mic systems for clients and more and more DJI just seem to be taking it one step further. Easy recommendation, DJI Mic 2. Another great video Tamara, thanks for posting 🙂
Your videos are excellent and very well presented. I`ve just bought the Mic 2 as a stand alone for Moto Vlogging as I now don`t need to plug in the receiver into my Action 4 as I did with the Mic 1 setup. An absolute game changer for me ! 😃😃
one correction, mics don't have the same recording time, 32bit eats up a lot of space quickly. also does one really need 32bit audio just for talking, all of a sudden audio clipping is a problem after this release.
I need your advice pretty please Tamara and might be a good video as i cant find one on youtube.... Rode wireless pro/DJI MIC 2 vs Rode NT1/Shure... basically can wireless mics compete in quality with studio mics? I like the idea of just using wireless for consistent sound
Generally speaking, shotgun mics give clearer quality because of their cardioid pattern. They usually eliminate/reduce sounds that hit the mic from the sides or the rear. Whereas with lav mics they pick up sounds from all directions. But there are other factors that play a part too, so it just depends on the mic and more specifically where the mic is placed.
Looks great. I would use it for a more simple setup on action 4 via bluetooth to be agile and on the go for vlogging in different travel locations. I have the mic 1 but this is awesome to be able to do the simple setup.
Hi Tamara :) Can you tell me.... can I connect new version mic to an old version of a receiver? i've got dji mic 1 setup and thinking maybe I could just add single mic to my old setup?
Guess I’ll get a 2nd mic2 only for use with Pocket 3. Already have another brand mic with a transmitter that’ll do with non-DJI devices. Will only buy DJI transmitter-less compatible devices going forward. The transmitter and case really aren’t necessary. Thanks for the detail - helped me come to my conclusion.
I already had the dji mic 1, with 2 transmitters and a receiver, which I loved. I ordered 1 individual dji mic 2 transmitter, as I only want to use the Bluetooth connectivity feature with my dji action 4, and didn’t see the point of buying the whole package with the receiver as I can only connect 1 dji mic 2 to the action 4 anyways. Does this make any sense? Haha
Yeah, it makes complete sense. For the Action 4, if you're filming solo the transmitter is all you need really, plenty of battery life for a day of filming without needing the charging case.
@@TamaraGabrielUK yes, exactly. Thank you for taking the time to answer by the way. I’m a big fan of your work. I already bought your luts and enhancement packages. Keep up the good work!
I almost pulled the trigger but in the end rationale won lol. I got rid of the Mic 1 and picked up the rode wireless pros when they were first released. I DID pick up an additional transmitter in white so that I won’t be limited when using the Osmo pocket 3. Also hoping a firmware update will also come to the action 4.
I was having sound reliability problems w/ intermittent static / artifacting while using the DJI Lav mic. I tried a replacement & it had the same problem. I wound up returning the Mic 2 & likely going to stick w/ the Mic 1 for now. I'm considering the Rode Wireless Pro, but don't like having to use cables. Curious if the firmware update that added the Low Cut makes any difference?
If you want to make the Mic 2 fully compatible with the Pocket 3, you need this system so that you can connect the receiver to the Pocket 3 USB-C port instead of using the direct connection. That connection collapses the internal mics on the optional wave file to mono, so you can't record stereo ambience to mix with your voice from the Mic 2. But it's an expensive fix for a problem which should never have been there in the first place. Of course you can use any 3rd party wireless mic system with USB-C receiver output to fix the problem more cheaply, which is what I've done.
That is horrible if you have to use the receiver with the Pocket 3 if you want the two mics to record in stereo. Ugh. Which 3rd party wireless mic system do you use?
Great comparison, could you test and share the audio quality when connecting the DJI Mic 2 via bluetooth vs with the DJI receiver to the OSMO Action 4 so we can hear and you can share how much of a difference there is audio quality?
Great video. I was considering the upgrade from V1 to V2. However, in a few of the YT reviews, I find myself not finding a major difference in sound between both. Since I am a photography first user, I am hesitant to splurge the money. One reason that is still making me undecided is that I have the Pocket 3 Creator pack, which came with one V2 mic. Essentially, I just need to buy the 1 to 1 pack and then purchase a charging case (not yet available in my home country yet). What would you recommend? Keeping the V1 or trade in for V2?
Great vid! Since we have the Action 4 and Pocket 3 (combo), I plan to reserve the Mic 1 set mainly for recording content on the OA4. However, with the inclusion of a second Mic 2, I intend to use it with the P3 or when recording content on the Pixel 8 Pro. If I go solo, I'll always reach for the Mic 2, no matter the camera.
Well I spent $300 for the Mic 1 about 8 mo ago and also just cracked the screen Thanks too a windy day ..... So obviously I'm not going to get anything for it on eBay.... So I guess I'm stuck with the older Mic set up for now wish I knew this newer setup was wish I knew the 2 was coming out 🤷
Really hoping you make a Action 4 with gimbal video, trying to work out if that offers a more robust solution over the pocket 3 and how well it performs in low light. It would be great to compare the hohem isteady pro 4 and the isteady 6 with the action 4. Your videos are really helpful and you make them to such a high standard, thankyou
If you want to use 2 mics on the Osmo Action 4, you need the receiver. However, instead of that sticking out from the side, I found out you can use the USB out of the receiver into the USB in on the Osmo ; much neater if you are using a cage.
I’d really like to try this. I’m new to vlogging and the action 4. I just purchased the mic2 and realized I can’t plug in the usb of the transmitter while using the cage. I’m trying really hard to understand your comment but I’m coming out blank. Do you perhaps have a video demonstration please?
Hello Tamara, nice video :) I have just one question. Is it possible to connect the Mic 2 to DJI 1 transmitter? If it's possible then I might just buy one Mic2 and pair it with DJI 1 transmitter when needed.
I bought the DJI mic 1 mid last year and have been happy with its performance, but the bluetooth feature makes the version 2 very tempting, I might perchase it just because of that feature alone.
I have the Mic 1, and am thinking about upgrading to 2 (bc of the Bluetooth/noise canceling features). I use my Apple AirPods for audio monitoring connected to the transmitter. Can you use wireless headphones for monitoring audio with Mic 2? I don't think I've seen anyone touch this subject.
I don’t use headphones to monitor my audio when using the Mic 2 as I’m usually using it for my TH-cam videos where I’m recording myself, so I just keep my eye on the audio levels, but I also record a 32-bit float back anyway. The only time I monitor my audio is if I’m doing a client shoot.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Ok, and when you do use headphones are you using wired or wireless? Also, when you use 2 Cameras and have the DJI Mic 2 connected via Bluetooth....does the microphone pick up the audio from both cameras or just one?
Great video again. Perhaps u can answer my question: I have bought the creator combo, so I already own a dji mic 2. If I now buy the new transmitter including one other mic2, can I use them both on the transmitter, so as if I bought the complete kit?!
I’m not sure I fully understand what you’re asking, but if you buy one DJI Mic 2 transmitter you can use it alongside the one you already got in the Pocket 3 CC.
Your videos are always so good, but I wish that nice background music in the beginning was off as you were switching between both mics to hear the true difference in audio quality. At the 9:24 minute mark into the video, you said how you have been going back and forth so we could hear the audio quality, but truth is that, the background music made it difficult to get a true sense of difference, that lasted until 10:26. I know this video was comparing other features as well, I felt it would have been great for no background music while you were switching back and forth, or at least off for a few minutes compared to a few seconds 9:24-10:26 near to the end of the video. My apologies for any offense. Forgive me of any ignorance on my part. Just sharing my thoughts.

Currently, linking is required again if you wish to switch between the DJI Pocket 3 and DJI Action 4. However, please stay assured that your feedback will be forwarded to our relevant team. Thank you for your understanding....
They say audio quality when connected via Bluetooth to a phone significantly degrades in comparison to using the receiver. Looks like Bluetooth is a nice on paper but really unusable in case one wants to record directly to a phone via Bluetooth paring. Could you make a comparison of audio quality of different types of connections with different devices?
I just purchased the $99 transmitter as I already own the Pocket 3 creator combo that came with a DJI mic/transmitter! I also own the DJI Mic 1, therefore the main factor in my purchase was the Bluetooth connectivity. I can now connect the DJI Mic 2 without having to plug the receiver into the bottom of my Iphone 15 Pro Max. Among all the Wireless Mic at this price range, the DJI sounded the worst. It's not even a subjective thing about sound quality, it just sounded lower quality than others at the similar price range. The mic while never marketed as match, they are not consistent, one sounded darker and another can sound brighter. What's worst is that, these DJI mic are way too bright and thin which is less suitable for spoken words application which is what this mic is used for. I like everything about this mic except the sound quality. Rode wireless pro sounded the best but I don't like the form factor and their case seemed "forced" but if I had to choose. They are not a mic company so I understand that, but these are basic. And their sound via Bluetooth is subpar versus plugging in the receiver.
