I own the DJI MIC 2 and have used it on 3 weddings. So far it’s great the lav mic has never come out 😂 once you bend the cable inside the clip that secures it really well, battery life is been great. The biggest downside for has been that the 32bit float recording cuts every 23 min which adds a little extra work in post, other than that this is an excellent unit.
I used to use the H1, Rode Wireless Go before. Not an issue for me because I eliminate failures by taping the lavs securely with painter’s tape. Even when I bought the Rodeo Wireless Pro, I still tape the lav mics. I use both. DJI Mic and Rodeo Wireless Pro and they both work perfectly fine for me.
I agree he spends 20 minutes talking about the features which are brilliant then comes to the conclusion that because someone might mess with power button it’s not best for weddings if there’s one thing you do when recording audio it’s monitoring it esp at a wedding. What a load of rubbish plus he never had dji mics 1 which I have and they are brilliant.
The lower quality of the non-32bit float audio is because for some stupid reason the DJI mic automatically has lowpass filter turned on. Turn that off and the quality is way better.
24 bit audio is NOT lower quality than 32 bit float. It simply has less (read: realistic, and technically enough) dynamic range. But am I getting this right: when you record in 32 bit float, the transmitters force the low cut on with no way of disabling it? :O That would suck!
9:11 "Specifcally, I’m using the 32 bit float audio because it sounds better than the audio that is transmitted wirelessly." No, it is not. 32 bit float audio does not sound "better" than 24 bit audio. It just provides the basis for using dual preamps with different gain levels, allowing a crazy dynamic range, which is useful for not having to set gain. Think of it like exposure bracketing to make sure you retain highlight detail, just in case. Same idea. The difference being that dynamic range in image sensors lags far behind human visual perception, whereas modern microphones and preamps have a greater dynamic range than human hearing. Any difference in audio quality you hear, you’re imagining. Sorry to say this. But so many video creators have somewhat limited knowledge of audio production, and I think it’s important to point this out.
Hey Matt, 2 wuick questions. Is there any latency in the transmission, can I hook it up to a powered speaker or sound board to transmit live? Also can I use multiples of these units while hooked up to one receiver?
Can you please show in your comparison video how easy the mic can come unplugged if it's in the little wire holder on the back of the clip? For me it seems like that would be good enough but you seem unsure. I want a pocket three so these lav mics would be better than the rode for compatibility with that. I have the rode wireless go ii atm.
I have Rode lav mics for the ceremony but bought these specifically for backup audio during speeches so I don’t have to worry about running a lav mic cable for each person. Just clip this on their shirt and go.
I have the same question. I don’t have the receiver but the DJI OA 4. (Receiver not necessarily). Wil the transmitter always record - as backup - in 32 BIT float? Thanks for your video.
Damn! If somebody watches this video and hasn't bought or know these mics, they leave thinking the DJI MIC2 are the worst mics ever. They have limitations, as all of them do, but they are amazing for the price. Example of a big win: menu navigation via the receiver's touch screen is amazing!
Do you know any way of using any sony with a camera form factor like the a7iv or the fx3 that lets you record using the hotshoe and the 3.5mm jack? Would be good to be able to use the lavs and the shotgun mic at the same time and pick which sounds best/ have a backup. It seems like it's just a software limitation.
@@116Paul It seems there is no way to enable 32bit float other way than through the receiver. Hope Dji comes up with an app that can access those settings.
THE big downside of this system that very few people mention is the non-replaceable battery. Not only is this a problem for long shooting days (which is always the case in my situation) but also is turns your entire system into e-waste once the battery has reach its life-time. This is a form of planned-obsolescence and an environmental disaster... Companies should not be allowed (by law) to manufacture these time of product without removable batteries.. It's just common sense.
I agree. I may still end up buying a wirelss system like this, but I absolutely don’t agree with non-replaceable batteries. Crazy that people think this is ok.
With everyone with phones and Bluetooth devices, do you get distortion or noise, cut outs, or interference at certain distances? My earbuds cut out and get interference issues when there's too many people at the gym. Weddings typically have people at them. Ha ha
have you ever think those lights on your wall back there are pointing to the other side? they should be pointing at you to make the composition more pleasant... and that huge space to the left (your right) I don't know is weird, that carpet is weird that empty table is weird...
Hey Matt, in your experience using the New DJI and Rode Mics with Sony, do you get any of those buzzing interference sounds like with the rode go II or first DJI Mic?
Matt, you have a lot of great videos and I always look forward to your annual custom computer build videos. Have you ever reviewed the Canon 7D Mark II? I'm considering it for guest interviews and vlogging. That with a Shure VP83 Lenshopper mic. If you have any thoughts on that setup I'd love to hear it. Thank you, sir!
It's okay! It's not a bad mic system. Just need to have right expectations. I've filmed over 20 weddings with the previous model and this one is only better. But definitely have backup for audio capture. That's a good practice anyway when filming live events ☺️
On the locking mechanism issue, someone pointed out to me that there is a mic cable holder under the magnet by the hinge. No one knows about it lol it works great but not as good as the normal locking
the nonscrewable jack is a big bummer? come on, i use the mic one since it's out. in many tricky situations where the dude with the mic has to do things. and the jack never been pulled out accidentally. but yes, it could be better screwable. but its not a "big bummer" the "bigger bummer" is it's shiny case surface. shining in every picture if sun or light is falling on it. that's way more "bumming". but not too bad ;) thanks for your video!

Absolutely, GOATED for just dropping the summary in the first 30 seconds. Thank you sir!
for the first time I disagree with you Matt! love dji M2. use for weddings from day 1. no problem.

A non reflective tape job might help to cut the visibility.

Do they work with Rode lavaliers? On the first model they gave interference and background noise. Thank you
I just tested with a Rode, today, and it worked with no interference.
@@JennGrover Thanks!
I reckon the white version of the DJI Mic 2 is perfect for recording audio at weddings, it looks just right and it's compact!
Thanks for the review. Have you heard of any issues with the wireless transmission interfering with other DJ wireless mics?

Does 32bit internal automatically record even when you dont press record on the mic but just record with the camera?

Apologies if you answered this elsewhere - but what mic are you wearing?
he's wearing the dii mic 2 mic and recording it into the mic not the camera.
Thanks Matt, was very Helpful....
Question, on the 2 person unit, is it possible to have one recording with a lav mic and the other one recording wirelessly at the same time?
I’m pretty sure the mic can be disabled from being turn off.
DJI 1 did have that feature you are asking for, to lock the rec, on and off buttons from the receiver menu. Idk why they removed it in the DJI 2 😏
Great review, I will pass.
So funny i was holding my airpod case and closing it and opening because i was bored, and than u did the same . We got same fetish
You can disable the rec button so its not accidently pressed

Your best bet would be to buy something like a Sony XLR-K3m which would give you 4 channels of audio
The clip the mic have is designed to hold the wire from the lab mic to not get pull 👍🏼
Can you please review the comica vimo q
32 bit *only recorded internally* (and not to the camera) is kiiind of a biggie - thanks for pointing that out, I had not heard of that elsewhere.
don't think any camera can save 32bit audio internally anyway so it's irrelevant
@mitre86able can you do internal 32 bit float without the receiver? With only the transmitter. Is that possible?
@@116Paul It seems there is no way to enable 32bit float other way than through the receiver. Hope Dji comes up with an app that can access those settings.
@mitre86able I have dji pocket 3. Can I enable the 32 bit float once then use 32 float as a stand alone recorder without the pocket 3?
@@116Paul I don't have pocket 3 to test it but from what Dji indicated, you should be able to do it that way.
Thank you for your presentation. As usual, you are a Master.
I won't use a mic that has bright branding on the front. Audience sees that and I don't want to distract them..
Black electric tape 🎉

How long does the proprietary battery last?
never understood the locking mic I promise the lav will never come out of that tiny TX
Happens all the time

32bit float not needed. Doesn’t improve quality of sound, but cool to have the flexibility in post.

Ahh yes, the 5DMk3 along with 2 zoom h1's is the best wedding kit. lol also a makeshift jib and diy flycam.

The charging case looks ugly imo. And it's too small to fit cables and deadcat.
If you already own the Dji mic 1, no need to buy this one, No difference, Waste of money tbh!
