He did another vehicle for me last year (the 911 C2 Porsche that people kept confusing with his own 911 Turbo S)! This level paint enhancement is perfect for a daily driver. It boggles my mind when I see people grind down factory clear coat in the pursuit of perfection. The last thing you want to do is reduce an already thin clear coat more than you have to. Excellent video pan. One my favourites

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! And I fully agree with you. Preserving the clear coat is super important. Paints are getting thinner and thinner. And unless you have a garage queen or it’s parked in a museum, there’s no point in chasing perfection on a daily driver.
      Unless of course the customer has the budget for a full two or three stage paint correction and is aware of what paint correction does.
      It’s all about educating customers and understanding their needs and budget. 👍🏻

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was totally brand new. Delivered a few days prior from the dealership. I see this all the time on brand new cars. This isn’t an exception.
      A new car is never new until it's properly detailed.
      - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example.
      - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc
      - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements
      - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches
      - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat.
      If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well.
      I explain all of this in this popular video: th-cam.com/video/QgoyrC-5CMc/w-d-xo.html
      So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car from two of my customers:

    Love this video Pan! Warms my heart to see this beauty in the right hands! ❤
    I detail Volvo's on a daily basis at a dealership. It truely took us a while to show them and persuade them how badly cars arrive from transport. As soon as you unpack them and put a scangrip light on them, it's painfull to watch. As you said new cars go through alot during transport etc!
    I helped the dealership out to improve their quality on delivery and even put some decent coatings on them. But yes, we polish them very thouroughly before putting them in the delivery area. Many times we also come across small paint-defects, which we tackle along.
    Probably one of the best local dealerships out there now, thanks to our detailing knowledge and care for the cars in general.
    But it's often difficult to tell dealerships to put in the money, time and effort in. I got lucky probably to have such a great and young team and an owner who is very passionate about the brand.
    Love the cars, love the work...and this video gives me the drive to keep working to improve them 😊

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I never discuss prices on TH-cam. It would be pointless. Prices vary for many factors including location. A detail job like this in Montreal doesn’t cost the same in New York or Paris for example.
      Your best bet is to see what detailers near you charge for services, and adjust your pricing accordingly.

    Hello Pan, thank you for another useful, amazing video. I have a question, I have a black car that I washed every two weeks using ONR and technicians choice ceramic detailing spray. I need to do a little bit of paint correction so my question is, do I need to use something special to remove the ceramic spray?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! And you don't have to do anything special, as the paint correction (machine polishing) will strip what ever protection you have on the paint anyways.
      So before polishing though, I would do a thorough wash, use an iron remover to remove embedded brake dust, then clay the paint if it needs claying (i.e. if you feel there is bonded contamination on the paint), then machine polish.

      Before my 911 Turbo S, I had many cars (I get a new car every three years) I had a new Audi S5 2013 back in the day. What an awesome car that was. Congrats!
      How did you discover my channel by the way?
      So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car for my customers:

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could use any one of those two and they would both work amazingly well (Auto-Foam is pH13 and Touch-Less is pH12). Depending on the seasons or type of contamination on the surface, I find Touch-Less works better in winter months for road salt removal, and Auto-Foam works better the rest of the year for road film removal.
      I spoke with the owner and chemist at Bilt Hamber and his conclusion was that you have to try and see which one fits better for your conditions, weather, and type of soiling you wish to tackle.
      But again, both would work great if you don't want to do in-depth testing.

      In your case, it seems you applied way too many different products one on top of the other, and you ran into stacking issues (chemical compatibility) as well as streaking or product overload.
      If the paint is still beading water and sheeting at a quick rate, your protection is still there.
      Next time, I highly recommend that you strip off your previous protection before trying to apply something new. Only machine polishing will ensure 100% removal of previous protections.

    Hi Pan, YOU ARE THE MAN! I have done 2 of my cars in ceramic coating following your recommendations and they turned out great! I just acquired a 2009 Mazda that was almost never washed or waxed and would like to rejuvenate the paint. I did the wash, iron remover and I used Ultimate Compound on the hood to see what the paint looks like. The hood is full of hundreds of small nicks from either very small stones or from sand hitting it at high velocity. It doesn't look like most of these nicks went all the way through the paint. There are too many nicks to touch up and I can't afford to have the hood repainted. What steps do your recommend to rejuvenate this paint? I recognize that it will never be like a new car that has been well treated, but I would like to do the best I can to help it look good. Thank you!

    Hi Pan, Great job the gloss is like a mirror. I noticed he has tinted windows. What you use to really clean/de-grease them?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว

      The tints are on the inside of the glass. You use an ammonia free automotive glass cleaner. As it’s a new car, that’s all that was needed. On an older vehicle that has off gassing from interior materials and that haze or film buildup on interior glass, I have a video on how to degrease here: th-cam.com/video/3rF6keJ88Y8/w-d-xo.html

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup, a brand new 2023 delivered a few days prior from the dealership. I see this all the time.
      Aston Martin Vantage: th-cam.com/video/OKga3yZVTqo/w-d-xo.html
      Tesla Model Y: th-cam.com/video/gohks8xP5NY/w-d-xo.html

    How much Bilt Hamber Auto Foam was used?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BH dilutions are dependent on your specific pressure washer and foam cannon setup. Hence why you need to figure out what the appropriate quantities are in your specific situation.
      But in my case, for the 5% PIR, I used 345 ml of BH and 255 ml of water, for a total of 600 ml in the foam cannon container.
      You can’t use those numbers though, as they’ll likely be way off with your setup.

    Why use Descale over Reset?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because Descale is slightly acidic and has mineral removal properties, and also it can help strip/break down older waxes/sealants, so it's a perfect decon soap when prepping for a full detail including ceramic coating application.
      Reset I use for maintenance washes.

    Hi Pan! i want to ask you about iron removers. I have noticed in the past that whenever i spray on iron removers and let it dwell for like 2 minutes and i would rinse off with my pressure washer, there is some discoloration of plastic trims like they became faded. Do you have this experience too? Is it because of iron remover( i use gyeon iron undiluted) or is it because of tar remover (i use gyeon tar) since i use them simultaneously for decon. Thanks

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Never let iron removers or tar removers dry on the surface. Also, don’t work in direct sunlight. Always work in the shade or in a garage, on a cool surface.
      Of course when spraying you can’t avoid plastic trim. I like to wash the car, rinse, and while it’s still wet, use the iron remover on wet paint, wait a minute, and lightly agitate with a microfiber wash mitt, and rinse.
      You wouldn’t use chemical decon every week.
      Also, for tar removers, only use on an as needed basis as those are quite harsh chemicals. And only spray on the area where you see tar deposits or tar spots.
      Other than that, it’s hard to troubleshoot at a distance without seeing the car and how you do stuff.

    • @markphilipbesa29
      @markphilipbesa29 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PanTheOrganizer wow you reply very fast,thank you for that. I wash my cars every Sunday 5am in the morning because i want to avoid sunlight, i decon my cars like twice a year only when necessary, so i think 2 minutes is a long time to let my iron remover dwell before rinsing. I live in the Philippines and it can be very humid here so i think it affects the products that i use. But anyways thanks for you advises and I want to let you know that you have inspired me into detailing my cars and I have inspired other thru you, keep doing these videos and as we say here "Mabuhay Pan"
