JLC has been having a great year, and now they have joined the makers that have green dials, but as usual, they did it better than anyone else. I would definitely get one if I was in the market for divers.
I love it. I usually like more vibrant green dials but WOW did they knock it out of the park on this one. In your last video MB&F messaged me after leaving a comment and I can only hope JLC does the same, JLC.... we need this in 38 or 39mm. There's no way I can pull off a 42mm all dial watch. Do that and I'll start saving now!
A lovely and well made watch indeed. In my book it would be even nicer without the date function. The older I get the more I appreciate fully balanced dials.
Again the Polaris is close but not quite. 13.8mm is thick not thin. The time-only slightly smaller Polaris is 11mm. And I much prefer the symmetry and size of that. Small wrist, it matters. Had one on my wrist just last weekend in black. Put the 70 hour movement in the time-only and I'm there. 40 hours is not competitive and that matters too when you have a few watches in rotation. I have a Spring Drive and a BB58 with 70 hours and that is really useful. I'm waiting for the Goldilocks time-only with 70 hours still...
@@jrbbass Exactly. JLC must know that a date-less version of the 899 movement is what the watch needs to be competitive. Progress here with the date version, so there's hope. My bank account won't thank them for it but I will.
Hey , thx great Video and Watch. On the online store I could not locate the version with stainless steel bracelet. Only with Rubberstrap which is for me a no-go. Besides that What is your opinion on the caliber accuracy?
This watch is gorgeous, but with the internal bezel making it all dial it is large at 42mm. Not too much, but shaving 2mm in diameter and 2mm in thickness would be great. And when you see the movement in the back, they could totally do this.
I am a bit colorblind in the green spectrum, so this watch seems to be in the middle of brown and green to me. Is it really green to you or is there some brown shades in it to you?
I didn't know her at all, but I really like the watch and the color. Stupidly, I can't decide at the moment which watch I want to buy. The real counterpart would be the IWC Aquatimer, and then I also think the JLC Ultra Thin Moon with the blue dial is great. Unfortunately, the money is only enough for one watch. So I'm in a real dilemma.
iwc not in the same league. ultra thin boring dress watch and u would hate sweating on the leather strap. go for the modern looking sports watch with higher water resistance which can be dress up or down i guarantee u will like it even more 5 years later unless u cannot handle the size or weight

Nevertheless, no one can make the decision for me. The IWC Aquatimer currently still has an ETA movement, but that could change, an update is supposed to come in June. Well, basically there are still a few watches more that I really like. It's really cruel not being able to decide.

Due to the high price development, I have to bargain down the concessionaires now. The JLC Ultra Thin Moon ends at 11K EUR for me, I will not pay more for this watch under any circumstances.

Looks so good but it's pricey and not as easy to re sell as some of its competitors, but to me the biggest flaw is that the crown which is used to set the watch is not screwed down, unacceptable for a diver
Love this watch. Have many green dial watches but this has a very different style but would fit my collection nicely. Would prefer a brown strap personally, I find brown (particularly leather) straps of any shades set off the green really well. Defo interested in getting one for my next big watch purchase
Great review. I'm a huge JLC fan boy, but the Polaris line needs work. The movement is not a purpose made sports watch calibre, is too small and has a weak power reserve. The watches are nice enough, but for the money, should be more refined and better finished. The dial needs redesigning - that terrible white date window and shouting numerals! JLC should go with a colour matched big date. JLC are getting smashed in this 'entry high horology sport' segment by GO, Blancpain and GS. This is IWC level watchmaking.

Looks very modern with the lack of a bezel, the gradient, and the 3D structure of the dial. Only let down is the case back. The movement should use more space in the watch. Right now it looks like an egg yolk in the centre.
Sorry did you measure the thickness by yourself? JLC uses 13,92 on their website but they use the same thickness for their Polaris Mariner which even on a pic looks thicker. They previously used 13,1 for this model but after did change it (don’t know why).
Today I had the chance to see it in real life in the Milano Boutique. The watch looks even better than on video and pictures - absolute amazing. I could compare it directly to the black Polaris - what a difference. But to be fair, the legibility is better on the black version - if this is someones priority.

Very nice watch recently released from a very underrated model from JLC, however, just seen the new released IWC Pilot 41mm Petronas mercedes watch. Just my opinion, visually more my style.

It has nothing to do with the depth. The problem of not having a screw down crown is that you can rub against something or catch in something and be pulled out, at which point your water resistance is like 0ft.
It’s not 14mm “thin”. “Thinness” is a terrible neologism to mask the fact that 14mm is rather high, or “thick” for an automatic date. Would you also say that the distance between New York and Melbourne is 17.000km “closeby”?
Just put a deposit down today for this piece at the boutique. I was told it could take up to 9 months for delivery. Hope it comes sooner. EDIT: I was told prices are going to increase in September so if anyone's on the fence, just get it now. It's a beautiful watch.
A warning to other owners of this watch: The clasp unfortunately inadequate. It comes off too easily upon impact. You can literally lose your watch if you use this for swimming. Be careful. JLC needs to fix this.
I went to look at one of these in a JLC Boutique. The dial looks almost black in most lights but comes up army green in strong light. I think JLC have tried too hard. With the olive green strap it looks like an army issue watch. The sort of watch that would be issued to you when you're called up, or indeed a Swatch watch which of course comes from the same conglomerate. Very disappointing. Certainly look before you buy.
Amazing watch! Still the blue version would be ahead on the list, but this green is stunning. My only "but" is the lack of a screw down crown, for a 200m WR, I don't trust the system. I had a water leakage swimming in a pool with an Omega that was supposed to have 150m of WR, but no screw down crown, and I don't trust them anymore.

Prefer Tudor/Rolex for sports pieces tbh, though really admire JLCs more dressier watches: Ultra thin, moonphase etc. I can’t help but think green might be a passing fashion - silver, blue & black especially will always be classic & age better I feel. I think no-date is necessary for any JLC Polaris, the 3-6-9 indices layout need symmetry. Wouldn't mind a smaller size either

Right, that's how I see it. The price hikes earlier this year were just too steep. As much as I like to buy from the Konzi, you think twice about it.

Because 14mm is not that thick. It is the profile shape that counts.
