People like to pretend its all vanity, but the vast majority of people that see a plastic surgeon do so because of physical trauma, cancer, or a congenital deformity. Plastic surgeons are miracle workers 🙌🏻💜
This is a nice sentiment and people like to think it's true, but it's not supported by the stats released from ASPS in the 2022 report. 1 million reconstruction procedures were performed, with tumor removal the most common. The top 5 most popular cosmetic procedures were Liposuction, breast augmentation, abdominoplasty, breast lift, and eyelid surgery, 1.5 million overall. Thats half a million more cosmetic than reconstructive. With another 23 million minimally invasive cosmetic procedures added to that, electives far outweighed reconstructive in 2022, in the USA. South Korea and China in particular are known for double eyelid surgery, nose and chin augmentation. This isn't to say that vanity is such a terrible thing, we are visual creatures and when we look good, we feel good. But let's not kid ourselves, no reason to hide from the truth.
The rise of social media, Instagram, Tik Tok, has set the plastic surgery craze into overdrive. People don't want to settle for ordinary or mediocre, they want perfection, like they see in all those glamor shots. Just a few augmented photos from a Kardashian, and lip injection demand skyrocketed. Everyone gets to choose what they do to their bodies. If they believe plastic surgery will help them feel better, more confident, i say go for it. Its the young people that are damaged the most. They look at an instagram model and think its all real and attainable. The psychological damage is no joke. Best thing you can do for your kids is keep them off these platforms for as long as possible, let them see the real world first, then they can make more informed decisions.
My gosh this woman can do it all!! Here I am with so much sleep debt just from spending my nights after work (standard 9-6 job) thinking too much, scrolling and watching Netflix and procrastinating sleep. My skin is terrible from lack of sleep and water, I can barely eat a healthy meal, or even exercise everyday, my kid is in school 9-4 everyday. I mean I have a great work life balance but how can I still feel burnt out watching this inspiring woman! I have no excuse lol. I guess I better choose sleep since I even get the choice. How does she not get brain fog and zits!!
