How to achieve long lasting MATTE base makeup

  • Alright oily people it's finally here! You know I've been working on my matte base makeup recently, and I wanted to give you something that would be wearable, glam, natural LOOKING but long wearing and completely touch proof. The worst is when you rest your hand on your chin and all you foundation coming off 😑 I hope this is helpful for everyone! ❤️

If you’re taking suggestions/requests, I’d love to see another video where you do a look without foundation or concealer! I’m trying to quit daily makeup wear and love my skin as it is but I still love to play with makeup like eyeshadow and lipstick on occasion 😊

100%, plus maybe some good tinted SPFs. I haven’t found a good one. I also use a sunscreen powder to “set” some SPFs that don’t want to dry down.

Step 1: hydration and a gripping primer.
Step 1.5 (my addition): oil-absorbing or sweat absorbing primer products where needed.
Step 2: a mist with tack for the makeup to hold on to.
Step 3: thin layer of liquidy medium coverage foundation
Step 4: slow, thin layers of any cream or liquid contouring, bronzer, color correcting, concealer, blush, or highlighter you desire
Step 5: set entire face with a slightly illuminating powders.
Step 5.5: spot conceal if necessary
Step 6: (optional) bake the highlight areas if you want
Step 7: reinforce cream colors and highlighters with powder products.
Step 8: set with a generous amount of high quality setting spray. Dry thoroughly.

It is so refreshing to see a makeup artist NOT overdraw their cupids bow. I commented on this before with someone and i can't remember who but all the others that do it look like they cant draw in the lines. It does not have the effect they think it does

    • @Thamazgha-nimazighen
      @Thamazgha-nimazighen 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It looks like a moustache most of the time to be honest😂. You're right it doesn't give the effect that they think it gives and in real life it looks even worse (I've seen how it looks up close in real life). I remember how I was being made fun of as a kid for having fuller lips especially my lower lip but now alot of folks apparently have jumped on the fake fuller lips. It doesn't suit their faces anyway. If you're not born with it it might not look great if you fake it. At least this seems to be the case most of the time

@Thamazgha-for-imazighen 💯💯💯!!! I can't even imagine how completely stupid I would look if I did that.
Wow, how was it in real life? 😳 I only see it online and it looks so terrible 😂 I see all these highly skilled professionals blending to perfection and then they do this.

My oily skin would eat through everything in an hour, as it always does. At this point, my best foundations are the ones I can blot, touch up, and powder back down and they still look good. I’m so jealous of people that can wear foundation for 4+ hours without their skin blowing right through it.

I've had both really dry skin and currently very oily skin and the best thing about having dry skin was how long my makeup lasted - it was incredible. I could use literally any product (as long as I moisturized well) and my makeup looked fantastic even 10+ hours in. Now with oily skin even the longest lasting, most waterproof products don't look half as good after 7 hours.
Dry skin people will never know the struggle when it comes to makeup (besides having to prep extra well.) I'd honestly say this routine in the video wouldn't be "touch proof" on oily skin in the slightest - this video is definitely catered towards normal/dry skin where most makeup lasts by default.

@@basskitten808. LOL right?! Same here. Of course I haven't tried every combination of skincare + makeup products out there to find what works best for me because money is a limiting factor lol, but the only products that have helped keep my makeup in place is the Pore Eclipse primer & setting spray! They HAVE to be used in conjunction for the products to properly work.

From a Spanish woman (the real deal, from Spain) if you want your fan open with a hand strike, you have 2 options: use the fan you already have but take care of that wood with some bee wax, even though I don't think it will work because the fabric is not properly build, I mean, the folding is not strong enough and I don't think you can do better with that because to iron it must be folded (close) and you won't ever reach the the center of the fan fabric. So my best advise and second option is to buy a plain wood fan with just 1 to 2 inches fabric in the top, the less fabric the better the fan will work.
It takes a good, good builder to make a mainly fabric fan to work and even if they look fancy those don't usually work well (only the really good ones and those are crazy expensive).
Here, in Spain, you can find a handbag little wooden fan, or a medium one for like 15 € (15 $). So all the fan body must be wood and only the tip part like 1 inch should be fabric. Those are the really good working ones. I don't know if you can find them there but is easy here specially around spring/summer.
I have a decent fan collection, really good beautiful ones but I also have a bunch of plain little ones in different colours to bring in the handbag and I can tell you that travelling around I've been asked an infinite amount of times to sell someone my fan when it was so hot, in airports, walking around cities or gardens, in bar terraces etc etc. The funniest...in UK in a pub, it was a really hot week and the waitresses (men and women) wanted to do a bidding on my fan if I was ok with selling it 😂😂😂😂.
Also, I think you'll know that there's an old secret language of the fans on depending where you touch with it on your face/body or which part you hide (lips, ears, nose, chest....) or on depending how you hold it, how you open it and how you close it. Sadly I must report that for the way you opened and closed that fan...no man was going to take you into consideration while in a flirt or wanting to meet you 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 (I know you don't pretend any of that, I'm joking but it would have been kind of real 😂😂😂😂)

Commenting something kind of unrelated because I'm here early!! I've been seeing some eye makeup photos where the person used light colors and highlighting lines to make lids pop rather than dark to push the crease back... Like inverse of what people usually do. Would love to see that ❤️ from what I've seen it works really well on hooded eyes. Sometimes pushing the crease back looks dirty on me and I was thinking maybe this bright version would work better

Yeah, I don't see how this routine is any different from most. The only way I can see this makeup staying matte or being "touch proof" is if you have dry skin because most things last well on dry skin by default.
Try this routine on oily skin and it'll come off.

What kind of fountain and power do you recommend for dry textured skin? I hear that satin or dewy finish helps but some say they highlight texture.

    Two questions though:
1: How long do you typically have to wait for a Gripping Primer to get tacky? 30sec-ish or 10min-ish? I know it will vary depending in a LOT of factors, but I'm just looking for a general base to start experimenting from.
2: How do you know if you have used enough setting powder? I use the same Prism Libre powder and I never feel like I have picked any up so I add more and end up looking dry and cracky... I get shiny/oily after about 30min-1hour of applying my foundation so just adding enough to cut the shine doesn't work for setting my face.

i need a skincare solution for undereyes similar to yours. like it's not about the color of my skin, my skin is see through and my under eyes are kinda hallow since i was a kid that's their shape. but because of this caffeine or eye creams don't really work. drinking water doesn't affect either but it can solve itself from time to time i don't know how tho

Also, for the setting powdwer, specially for mature skin (I'm 60 years old), I tried the Huda, the Elf and the Givenchy for 2 months (aroun 50 days) and the verdict is: Givenchi prisme libre in Voile Rosè wins by far!. Is smoother, finest powder (more than huda and elf) and the longevity is LONGEST and I use caps because elf and huda were good for like 6-7 hours but Givenchi lasted around 9 hours with no retouch.
Plus Givenchy doesn’t give a dust impression and keeps the face/undereyes hydrated.
So, once I finished all the Huda never bought it again and I finished giving the Elf to my daughter (my go to decluttering system 😂). Yes, Givenchy is more expensive but it really worth the price and I usually wait for a 30% Sephora discount day (we have them once a month here for Sephora Gold, Sephora silver 20% and Sephora Black 10% always through the website).
One more thing, Givenchy prisme libre in Voile Rosè compact powder works as well as the loose powder for retouches keeping same exact colour and comes with a decent little bush inside plus is really compact to bring in my handbag, you only need a little swiping on the needed places and you're good to go for another 3 hours.
While Huda compact powder is kind of horrible, in the pink one it changes colour with the compact, is not as bright pink plus the compact is bigger and has no brush on it.
Sorry I had no compact for the Elf.
Oh...if you ever want to splurge yourselves (I did for my birthday) buy in the Givenchy website, I bought the loose powder in the big and the little formats as well as the compact format...the box I received...the xamples, the make up bag ...it was like Xmas! 😂😂😂
Something to try once in your life!

Do you notice any change between the pressed / loose powder? Longevity vise? I have only the compact version and wonder if the other one performs better? Thank you!

@@neza8628 not really, but I usually only use the compact for retouching, only one time used it for the routine and I found it difficult to press in the T zone.
