  • Hey hey frands. I've received a lot of questions about how I make my makeup look like my skin and how to avoid things like cakey foundation, pilling and/or flaking. SO. Today imma show you how I do it 🙃 Keep in mind, it's a process...it takes TIME. Unless you're Hailey Bieber...then it takes like 2 seconds 🥲 Hope this is helpful! 💕

Embracing moisture has been the single most skin changing habit I have made. I used to let my skin be dry for the sake of thinking it would help my breakouts… How little I knew. I wasn’t even dealing with breakouts. I was dealing was a broken skin barrier and irritation! When I started giving my skin moisture, I cleared up! Thank you so much for putting out such quality contact. That seems to be quite rare these days. You really offer the grits of how-to tutorials and real life. Thank you, especially for not telling us, “this product will give it to you, buy it”. You don’t hype up anything either. And yes… I layer lots of the same product too, such as moisturizer. It can look incredibly close. My trick is exfoliating very well before applying makeup as dry skin creates way more texture than people realize.
      2. Keep the layer thin, dont apply more than a pump across your entire face- unfortunately youll have to sacrifice coverage but it's the only way to keep it skin like not paint like as you said.
      3. This is the most important one imo, apply way more moisturiser than you think you need so your face is tacky almost, idk why but this makes the foundation glide on and not dry out your face which is what makes it look more "made up".
      4. Dont swipe your foundation, use a sponge or your hands but *only pat* it as swiping motions encourage texture as it microexfoliates.
Just my tips, I find theyve made a world of a difference

Sunscreen, ladies!! There are a lot of sunscreens that double as a makeup primer, if you layer too many products especially if you don’t let them dry in between they can pill and cake. Do not skip sunscreen or use your makeup as SPF! A bonus is using a tinted sunscreen and concealer around your red spots or breakouts. So, soooo appreciate this! My ongoing acne clears and reappears, but finding flexible light makeup routines like this seriously keep me feeling confident as my makeup wears through the day. Nothing worse than beautiful light makeup with soft concealing turning into congealed messes and "my makeup died on my face" mere few hours later. Many of your tricks add so much ease and seeing clear explanations as you provide make it fool-proof. Thank you, Alex!

Dude honestly, this video saved me. I was having such an issue with getting cakey, primers and other products pilling, and just generally looking so unnatural that I was really just about to give up and stop wearing makeup again. The light foundation layer and cream products made a HUGE difference for me (you inspired me to order some ) and i finally feel confident and no longer feel like a walking trash bag. I really think this video will help SO many people who are struggling with a whole varitey of issues. Thanks for what you do 🖤

There's an influencer I've come to learn about recently (Meredith Duxbury) who uses an INSANE amount of product in her videos. Like, actually obscene amounts of foundation, and I don't get the point of it. Your video/methods are the complete opposite, and it's so refreshing. Thank you for providing content to help people actually look good as they're existing out in the world, not just makeup that'll look good on camera for a short amount of time before it starts to crease like crazy.

Makes me sad when young people complain about a tutorial being too long…try reading a giant book the way my generation learned makeup. Your attention spans have been obliterated by spending too much time on social media, and it shows. You want to magically be better at makeup but refuse to sit through an incredible video to learn it…well, you get what you pay for. If you can’t spend the time required to learn artistry, don’t complain about how your makeup looks.

your camera setup is amazing for this video. we can definitely see the texture of your skin which is very helpful for getting a realistic expectation of how “skin-lie” the makeup will look. i love it because i remember i used to think makeup would look on my face like it does on youtube videos, and realizing texture doesn’t disappear but it’s rather enhanced sometimes by makeup was really frustrating. so i love that i can actually see your skin, so i can tell what this makeup could look like in real life
