Nice touch with those white LEDs, I was expecting some chintzy looking blue LEDs but I was wrong. Those speakers miss some of the high notes that the original units had, some hidden tweeters would help to restore the sound. Kudos for not drilling any new holes in the case.
The original speakers didn't have as much bass as the new ones but they had more mids and highs and sounded richer. Sound is very subjective though.

Finally, someone makes some actual upgrades to the devices, not just clean it, re-paint it and call it "upgrade". Big thumbs up. Btw i have the same radio. :)

THAT'S you speaker solution? Install SMALLER FULL-RANGE ELEMENTS?! I would've looked for a pair of 2-ways equal in size to the originals, at least!
Nature likes ballance something upgraded something degraded.
What u did with original speakers ? Really they were awesome... These new speakers are just power hungry. No comparable sound improvements. Also old speakers had bigger diaphragms/Cones.

One capacitor on the new amplifier board seems to be demaged. Should be replaced. How does the lights look in the dark?
For so much modification I'm surprised you didn't put nice tweeters to make 2-way speakers. Sounds like it lacks high range of spectrum...
install a tweeter with two way crossover, will sound lot more better.

Wow, mad props man!! You absolutely killed that upgrade and like some others have said, it’s super refreshing to see a TRUE upgrade video. Cant thank you enough and providing all the parts by links or names in the description and a schematic of the electrical circuit is so on point. I don’t understand why other content creators who make any video upgrading or changing an electrical circuit don’t provide a diagram or schematic of the final product. Should be standard and a given but it’s not, not even close so thank you again. Awesome video and final product. I have the Sony CFD-G500 and will attempt to do this to my unit.
Min 4:00 one of the two cpacitors are seriously damaged

sounded better before better treble before got to the end when you play music then got to the start sound better before you wrecked it
Great video!👍🏻 However I do agree that the original speakers sounded better because they have more treble than the new ones. The new ones do have more bass though. to get both of both worlds maybe add like a 2” tweeter for better treble. I really did like the backlight mod. It makes it easier to see the screen in a dark room. I own a newer system with Bluetooth and I think I will do the backlight mod with probably orange LED’s. Great work.
Good work but the old speakers sounded more clear and the new ones sound muffled which kind of defeats the purpose of the project if that's what you were aiming for.

He could use fullrange 4 inch speakers like original ones, but bettet quality
The only issue here I think if you play CD tracks in higher volume in a longer time I think the audio will skip due to the heavier vibrations compared when it was on stock speakers. 🙂
that boombox has CD anti-skip feature (ESP)
@@jed9894 yes but consecutive vibrations still afffect playback. Anti skip has only limited time like some seconds to a minute only.

Good idea with rechargeable power source but sound upgrade is really downgrade. Original Sony fullrange 10cm speakers on original 2x4w amplifier has better quality, more treble and midrange. New speakers and amplifier has more low frequencies but quality is shitty without tweeters

You lost the crisp highs install some piezo tweeters, and you should regain the highs.

That badly dented Huahong capacitor on the Amp looked bad tho' !
Noticed the dented Electrolytic Capacitor. What happened??? Otherwise nice build. Much better than I usually see on these kinds of mods. You have real tools, and do nice work. Just wondering about that capacitor that is stuck in my mind seeing that. Especially since your work is very good.

More power , but the diameter of sony speakers is bigger and this give a deep bass .
Impressive. I own the same exact Sony boombox, but would never attempt to do this. Adding Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX though and changing the LCD screen to LED would have been awesome.
I'd add external bluetooth receiver to keep the original boombox intact

That sounds worse put the Sony speakers back in nicely ruined modified well would be good if you put all the Sony stuff back and kept the rechargeable batteries and the recharge system that stuff is brilliant

Really nice.. I'm upgrading a cfd f17cp, i changed the foam on the speakers, add new resonator, backlight on lcd and two 1.5 inch speakers for middle and treble frequencies with a small amp circuit. Hope to upload videos for this work.

I have the JVC tube boom box from the 90s, and that things rock da bass, use to have a conion boom box from the 80s, took 10 D batteries, and weighed a ton, and nothing sounded better then that radio, it had its own alarm, that if anyone moved it, it would blare a high pitch squeel, that radio was awesome.

если честно родные динамики лучше были чем эти они кое куда обьёмней звучали чем эти и у этих явно нет 15 ватт слишком маленькие что бы такие ватты выдавать так что однозначно маркетинг

@@Pubvoice скорее всего он поставил китайские динамики и они напоминают которые ставят в портативные колонки которые кошмарно пердят и там не каких нет нормальных частот если именно эти он динамики поставил то зря
@@farid1982В Сони ведь не дураки работают, специально просчитывали под те динамики литраж и соответсвующий усилитель, чтобы всё звучало в том корпусе по возможности лучше, а тут чел впихнул усилитель класса Д, динамики первые попавшиеся, пускай и с большим магнитом, вот и звучит теперь как китайская дешёвая колонка. Аппарат жалко, прикольный по виду.
@@Pubvoice это разве большой магнит у меня столько колонок было разной мощности и поверти там магниты на много больше а то что он поставил там от силы каждый динамик не больше 2 ватт там в них нету 15 ватт для 15 ватт слишком магнит маленький да и ход динамиков тоже маленький для 15 ватт магнит должен быть больше и ход больше должен быть я даже удивился над автором этого канала он уже не первый аппарат от реставрировал не ужели ватты отличить не может
@@farid1982Просто он так в камеру показал магниты старых динамиков с магнитами новых как будто новые будут на порядок мощнее, я правда не услышал, чтобы они были мощнее но явно хуже играют. Надеюсь он старые не выкинул. А вообще я думал для переделки он просто mp3-Bluetooth модуль всунет и всё, ну и аккумуляторы. Лучше бы он так и сделал.

How I would make a 36 volt battery pack that is 50 amps to use on a electric bike will that be big and heavy if you used a smaller battery voltage like 24 volts then use a converter to make it higher will that drain out the battery faster
