You can connect a 1.5V or 9V battery across the speaker wires. When the battery makes contact the cone of the speaker should move towards you when the positive terminal of the battery is connected the positive wire of the speaker. Though typically you'd test it after the speaker is installed in the cabinet, and if necessary reverse the polarity of the wires inside the cabinet that are going to the cabinet's terminals.

🤔Is everyone happy with the results of the renovation? Are there any specialists here? Explain when the author glued the voice coil centering washer. Then we'll talk. In the meantime, this is not a repair, but a fake. Or do you need to explain what a centering washer is?😃😃😃 Or is this a new type of speaker?
I'm not a specialist so I can't say if this is a good method or not and why, but it isn't fake. What he glued isn't the "centering washer" but the material he used to fill the gap between the cone/spider and the new voice coil (inserting it from the front to avoid having to remove the cone/spider meant he had to widen the hole so the coil could pass, creating a gap he then had to fill).
Makes it look easy… but most recone kits comes with the new cone. Why not just take the cone out with the voice coil instead, that should make it more easier to replace ?
He never did show how he got it past the spider. Or how disconnected it from the spider. I'm an audio repairman and recone 10 drivers per week. I want to know how he did that. And I agree, I could have reconed a driver by the time he was done.
@@theanthonyrw I've been doing a LOT of research on replacing these as I have 4 drivers that need it done. It seems the idea with this method is the cone and spider remain glued together. I've yet to attempt though, hopefully this coming weekend I can tackle at least one driver.

thank you very much TE. I am about to replace not only the voice coils, but spiders as well on 1970 Pre-Rola Celestions. Nervous is an understatement. I have done successfull recones on Blackbacks, but this is a whole other level. The spiders dry out and the glue breaks off and eventually winds up in the voice coil, so I am thinking I have to remove the entire cones without damaging them from the frame? Then clean the frames, before reassembling the new spiders and voice coils to the cone. If the spiders weren't dried out, there would be no need to realign the voice coils. Здравствуйте, сколько толщина проволоки катушки? Какое сопротивление? Отличная работа, молодец! Привет из России!
In 3:22 min. TE, explain to me how to identify the positive and negative in these two wires? I've always had this curiosity.

Did anyone notice the new coil is round wire ...I prefer the ribbon wire all the way.
never repair a speaker this way, debris will fall into the gap,
Whatever works for you.
I guess you missed the part where he used a air nozzle and vacuum. Or did you even watch the video?
Bro didn’t watch the video, or just closed his eyes when ever he saw him cleaning somthing
worst way of repair...those debris will totaly seize the new voice coil
