I love the Naked Grouse, however in Scotland most people have never heard of it, far less drunk it. Famous Grouse is the main blended (grain included) whisky thats drunk , not as a malt whisky - mainly with water or something else - and it's not in the same class as Naked Grouse. A great whisky with ice or cocktail whisky. You can really taste the Maccallan in there.
I’m new to the whisky world. I have this brand. I feel this one is sweet, young, full and aggressive ! Excellent for what it is.
A great review! I'm very impressed with this bottle. Love your reviews and would love to see you continue! Best wishes.
The clear bottle had me sold. Can whisky be mixed with other sweet beverages or is that taboo?
Fun fact: The first 'Naked Grouse' was a blended Scotch whisky, i.e. contained grain whisky. It was OK, malty with very little grain influence, but was also a bit reasty with Sherry cask notes. This was replaced with the blended malt that you have. I like the blended malt more, although I find it quite rubbery - the 'Sherry rubber' I find in some Macallans (heresy!) and also in Edradour. In answer to your question: in my market - Australia - both are 40% ABV. We envy you 43%-ers in South Africa!
Gustav and Elna, marvelous review, just ordered a bottle of Naked Grouse, gave up Scotch for Lent so will tell you my thoughts after Easter. Love Macallum 12, Highland Park 12, and Glenrothes. Also like Famous Grouse so after watching your review I know I will love it. Great food pairing, my Mom loves chocolate covered raisins! Cheers!
Guys.. congratulations for your video!
This whisky is not easy to find.. Ive been looking for it, but only a few reviewers have them on their historic..
So.. really appreciate your information, and I hope I can find some of these bottles, after all I heard they have been discontinued.
Maybe you could compare it with the Douglas Laings scallywag 13??? Its another sherry blended malt..
So.. thanks again! Very nice video!
Nice review. I tried Naked Grouse and also found it a great value for price.
We miss you hope your ok love your reviews
Naked grouse is a great budget and starter whisky. The fact that I get it for 25 dollars is even better
Elna,
Would you please let me know the Style of this Glencrain glass with Stem, and where can I purchase on line (I didn't see on Amazon),.
Hope I can find this Naked Grouse blend here in Canada. Like the darks & sherry profile.
Thank you.
This is a fantastic dram for the price ($28 near me). You didn't mention the foot of the Grouse on the bottom of the bottle, it's a fun addition to the bird on the side of the bottle. Cheers
Strange, i preferred the Smoky Black rather than this! thx
Strange, i preferred the Smoked Grouse rather than this! thx
This is another good one the Sherry is well done for a blended malt. Cheers
