- Howdy! With the upcoming release of Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, wanted to look at all the Spongebob video games and picked out what I consider the worst and best of them :)

For my cousin's 19th Birthday, we spent the whole day beating the Spongebob Squarepants Movie game. It was her favorite. I play it every year on her birthday, as she passed in 2015.

Battle of Bikini Bottom was fantastic, it's one of the few games I didn't sell.
It felt like the GTA version of SpongeBob LOL
It was my very first GameCube game! And the soundtrack was fantastic!
The remake comes out next year.
I sold it was a kid and then a few months passed and I asked my mom to buy it again cause I missed playing it too much 😂😭

Spongebob Squarepants: Lights, Camera, Pants! was so underrated

Same for the legend of the Golden spatula for the gbc
Lights camera pants was a really fun party game with good minigames but on gamecube it was painful to play. Even 9 year old me knew there was no reason for 2-3 different loading screens between each minigame.
It was a very fun game but I went back to replay it recently and it was far too easy
One thing you should note: the DS version of a Atlantis Squarepants is actually a decent game. It’s a completely different game than the other console version, and it’s better for it.
I remember playing that game a lot, especially the minigame that's included in it, it was a blast

I really hope "The Movie: The Game" gets the same treatment as BFBB. To me I feel as if they were on-par with each other, one offering better environments and nostalgia while the other offers better gameplay and polish. I loved TM:TG's upgrade system and abilities but I also love BFBB's levels.
I just hope we get a remake for TM:TG as well
Itd be nice to get an overworld you can explore. I'd also love to see creature from the Krusty krab
I think it would be cool if someday they do a spongebob game mixing elements from breath of the wild , and bowsers fury and if done right might be one of the best games ever and might be top tier with other popular games and I think they could pull it off if done right like have spongebob start in the bikkin bottom where you explore the entire location of the houses and towns and you start to unlock more worlds that feel connected to one big open map and explore the entire undersea world and don't know what the bosses should be but I think spongebob should have a level up system where you start with the moves from bftbb and spongebob movie game move sets but the level up you are the stronger you get and have a level up system for patrick and sandy as well and have customs from the show, movie, and orginal as well and I think it would make more sense if you whacth the show like think about the locations that we haven't explore yet and the locations that we have been at but just one ep but in the game since it's a breath of the wild and bowser fury mix you can explore what ever you want and have side missions so in collusion it would be cool if someday we do get a spongebob game that takes more of a breath of the wild and bowser fury approach
And it's just someday but it would be cool if they decide to take more of a ambitious dreaction and make a spongebob breath of the wild and bowser fury approach game
And make more a action platformer with some rpg elements like the level up system and the combat system that doesn't overshadowed the platform aspect and it would be cool if they decide to take some 1 element from sonic which is the seven chaes emeralds and a super from in instead twisted to have the seven patty or seven different spactilay or something to do with neptune and that and would be a little bit fan seveicy if we get a super spongebob fighting the final boss of the game but maybe call it neptune spongebob or don't know what the name should be but again that is a fever dream that won't happend ant time soon
And mabey the secret level if you 100 percent the game is a big level taking place on land with spongebob still being able to breath on land and is a big award to hard core players that 100 percent the game and plus you get a super from of spongebob but not only him but have a super from for patrick and sandy as well for the big post game award
Plankton’s robotic revenge, even though its “lousy” I still had a wonderful time with it. It holds so much memories.
Same with me and Atlantis SquarePantis game, it always seems the lousy ones are the best remembered, I guess I didn't realize how lame it was back then lol.
SAME!!! i loved this game. as my grandma had an XB 360 at her house, this was the only non-Kinect game i can remember playing on it. and believe me, i played it a LOT.

It's nice to see someone talk about how good the Movie Game is.
A lot of people that recognize it’s existence talk about how good it is, including the rest of us. It’s SO MUCH greater than SpongeBob Heropants and Plankton’s Robotic Revenge, which in no way, would make it on Fawful’s Minion’s list of greatest SpongeBob games, including if he updated it. Even with the fact that he left the original mainstream Sonic the Hedgehog/Sonic Advance trilogy off his updated video of his favourite Sonic games in favour of Sonic Lost World, Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Forces. Which has too much fans aka Modern Purists of the Sonic fandom.

That there’s a great chance the woman in the left is going to be very famous for the much-more-explicit-than-imaginable film studio Frigid Fire Animation Arm. We both talked about being the founders/leaders/directors/lead actors of the studio in the wedding reception with her sister, the bride, Karita Kantola on the right.

A little fact I thought I'd share: during his time at blitz studios my dad actually worked on some of the animations for 'Creature from the Krusty Krab' which meant I had a copy of the game growing up - it was very nostalgic hearing it's name again and seeing snippets of gameplay
Love that game, vividly remember every dream section, fun times!

It's amazing how the top two games: Spongebob Squarepants The Movie, and Battle for Bikini Bottom were made by the same company. You can tell that company put the time and effort and soul into those games to make it feel like Spongebob.

Since Tim Conway's passed, I wonder if they'll at least archive his voice as a tribute for the remake.
@@Julayla If I'm not mistaken, the remake is just going to use archival recordings of all the characters except for possibly Mr. Krabs getting his real voice actor back.

truth or square on the wii was one of my favorites as a kid, and its still fun for me and my sister today. I remember late nights on the couch, watching my sister play the game at her leisurely pace as we recognize each level and its corresponding episodes. A year or two ago, we came back to the game just to see if my sister could "speedrun" it just to see if she still had that spark of being good at the game. We'd talk about our childhood, or spongebob, or whatever each level reminded us of as kids. it holds a special place in my heart solely for it being a random game our dad found for us to play like he did back then when all we would do is stay up past bedtime to play on our wii together. good times.

Revenge of the Flying Dutchman was available at my dentist to play at the waiting room. I also loved the music and I wish they made it available on iTunes.

@@jcfreak4ever1 I played it a couple of times. Even with how much it annoyed me I managed to have fun playing it. Don't get why it was listed as the worst Spongebob game, apart from maybe the music. Although there are workarounds to that if you don't spend the whole playthrough wearing the same thing.
Employee of the Month, Movie Game PC, and Lights Camera Pants PC were all great point-and-click adventure games, and I really wish we had more of those.
Spongebob is the perfect media for this sort of gameplay. And I haven't been able to find another game that captures the same style and charm.

The problem is that only the true 3D platform levels were really good and felt like a true adventure, and the rest of it just didn’t come close. Levels 1, 2, 4, and 8 are amazing and I wish the rest had their gameplay. Level 3 was too simplistic, 6 was frustrating, and 5, 7, and 9 were just plain boring.
I’m also a bit annoyed about how every level has a unique tone and genre based around it, _except_ 6 and 7. I wish that they had tweaked it so that they felt at least slightly tonally different.
The remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom will bring a stellar game to a whole new generation of kids.

It's mostly the art style from Spongebob's dream, the Alaskan Bull Worm and the mutated Krabby Patty which makes it look ugly.

Atlantis SquarePantis is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's nostalgic for me. However, nothing will top my two favorites, Battle for Bikini Bottom and Creature from The Krusty Krab.
Those are my favorites as well. I remember enjoying Battle for Bikini Bottom and Creature from The Krusty Krab just as much. They were both so unique and so darn fun to play! And Atlantis SquarePantis was fun as well, though not as good as the other two.

My favorite is actually an online flash game. I don't remember what it's called but you just make crabby patties. Very simple but super addicting. I remember playing it for hours when I was 15.
Damn, I played Plankton’s Robotic Revenge all the time when I was younger. I thought it was the coolest thing ever at the time. I don’t remember much, but I remember the button mashing. So much button mashing..

I kind of feel like "Revenge of the Flying Dutchman" got a bad rap. The controls were kind of a pain to learn, but I didn't feel it was any more of a fetch quest than Battle for Bikini Bottom. And I thought the environments were pretty good for what they were, even if the enemies were really repetitive. Of course that was a while ago. The only thing that I really hated was that bridge at the end of the put put game. Could not pass it no matter what I did.

Sonic Boom was glitchy as all hell due to it being ported to a system it wasn’t designed for. Spongebob Heropants was made for those systems, and it is the epitome of shovelware.
And Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, while mediocre, is basically Sonic 06.

I am a little silly but I really like how Strider stands out from a lot of reviewers on youtube. I love listening to his reviews of cartoons, foods and toys it's amazingly relaxing!
I kinda liked Atlantis Squarepantis to the point where I didn't want to do my homework just to play the game back in the day.
Yeah but..a kid would do ANYTHING other than homework. Sometimes, I would purposely give myself chores to do so I wouldn't have time to do homework.

In Atlantis Squarpantis there was a bonus game called germy warfare that literally could have been a stand alone browser game. It was perfectly difficult and interesting
Truth or Square was my childhood, so I'm glad it was in honorable mentions
The good thing is Squigglepants is available on the 3DS, and you don't need any add-ons. So it's the best way to experience the game nowdays. Not to mention that Warioware Gold is available there too, so you can play 2 great micro-game games on the console.

I'm absolutely shocked about inclusion Employee of the month, I have vivid memories of playing that game as a kid, and I came into this list figuring it'd get overlooked or ignored due to how old/simple it was so was pleasant surprise to see it. I lost in a decade and a half ago and never knew the name of it so maybe I'll have to see if a version exists somewhere for me to play for nostalgia
Really happy to see Creature from the Crusty Krab included as well, that game was a god damn acid trip but honestly one of the weirdest and most memorable gaming experiences I've had. When I heard the music you play inbetween mentions I knew IMMEDIATELY it was from this I honestly like the sound track better than BFB (though BFB is great too). Overall really good list, and I hope the movie game gets a remaster too.

Nonon Jakuzure Ik what he meant! I was just stating a fact about how the game had someone else voiced Mermaid Man regardless of the fact that Ernest Borgnine was alive at the time, so it wouldn't be that different if someone else voiced Mermaid Man again!

But no seriously, we have to deal with the death of two major voice actors (Squidward & Plankton) and the Patrick voice actor who left Nickelodeon. The English voice acting is still on the lucky side. Plus, the game didn't have ANYONE from the original cast.
Battle for Bikini Bottom was one of the best and most memorable games I could think of. Heck, even my dad remembers it because it was roughly the time when I was too young to understand gaming but I remember it very well (King Jellyfish and Jellyfish fields, ah).
As I got a little older, I had the PC game version and it honsetly wasn't that bad either. It was different and fun.
(I still remember the scene when Spongebob lost his pants while in the jungle looking for Gary and found a leopard, ripping it's fur and making himself a caveman robe, the situation was funny to me) I could be wrong because that was 15yrs ago since I've played it, but I swear that leopard scene was hilarious
I agree with the Top 2 in your list, the Spongbob movie game and Battle for Bikini Bottom are the best if not memorable gaming moments in my childhood.

Phantomstrider this list put a smile on my face. You really nailed it. They are cult classics.
I grew up with “Employee of the Month”, “Spongebob Square Pants movie game”, and “Lights Camera Action”.
And for better or for worse “Operation Krabby Patty”, “Atlantis Square Pantis”, and “Legend of the Golden Spatula” (Game Boy).
Sadly I never got a chance to play “Battle for the Bikini Bottom”.
Hopefully I’ll get the opportunity with the upcoming remake.
I happened to really like Revenge of the Flying Dutchman; I'd gotten pretty good at it once I'd played it quite a few times. lol I also played the SpongeBob Movie game and Battle For Bikini Bottom, too, both on Gameboy Advance. Out of those two, the SpongeBob Movie game was considerably harder than Battle For Bikini Bottom; you couldn't keep getting extra lives by replaying levels, and there was also a higher risk of dying cuz of that. I hated the level when all those fish bones were threatening to crush you as you made your way through the level... Still, all three give me a sense of nostalgia and I love that about them. Heck, in Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, I used the Mermaid Man costume as much as I possibly could cuz I love the theme music for it... I wish I could find an extended version of it here on YT. lol I loved using that outfit so I could hit baddies from a distance with water balls, and their sound effects were hilarious! XD
Battle of Bikini Bottom and Creature from The Krusty Krab are both my two favorites. I felt they were each very unique in their own way and were both such a blast!

A real answer: Look inside the window, beg desperately for a ride, jump in the car and have a blast. He's been known to feel excluded and start crying if he doesn't get to go on a family car ride. Not even popcorn can cheer him up when that happens. One of my dogs might have a SLIGHT obsession on family car rides... XD

I remember that I highly enjoyed playing it as a kid. I think if they were to take the story/gameplay and update the graphics/change up other sections
I replayed that game so damn much as a kid, I practically never got bored of it.

I played Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated just as a casual thing while I played Fallen Order on Jedi Grandmaster difficulty or whatever it was. When I finished Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, I was surprised at how fun it was (except the surfing levels).

I thought I’d point out something about SpongeBob SquigglePants that you missed.
The game wasn’t just released on the uDraw, believe it or not, but there’s also a 3DS port, as well.
The coolest thing about that game, aside from the different art styles the game utilizes for each chapter, which still look awesome every time, especially speaking as someone who loves art as much as you do, (Much respect to someone else who loves art, especially if it’s in different styles! Rock on!) is the soundtrack was actually composed by Jake Kaufman, believe it or not.
I actually couldn’t tell at first, but, no, that’s indeed him, and that’s really awesome!
He absolutely LOVES it when people remember him for that soundtrack, as it’s as obscure as the actual game.
I also noticed you didn’t talk about SuperSponge, which kinda surprised me, because, even early in it’s development, it had a LOT of prototype builds.
One of the first versions didn’t even have the voice actors doing any of their lines heard in the final release, and another earlier build actually gave you a traditional life meter, instead of the Sonic the Hedgehog gameplay style in the final version.
The GBA version actually had a few more days to be made, and that has it’s fair share of prototypes, too.
That version does have a life meter in the final release, as opposed to the console version.
Creature From The Krusty Krab, also known as my absolute favorite SpongeBob game of all time, has it’s own history to it, and it’s almost as bizarre as the game itself.
It’s working title was “SpongeBob: 40 Winks” at the time, which means they started developing the game with the dream/nightmare concept in mind.
I also noticed SpongeBob’s appearance in the game’s first chapter, Diesel Dreaming, kinda looked a bit strange to you at first, and, actually, there’s a reason for that.
The first reason is that Bikini Bottom is meant to be post-apocalyptic in that chapter.
The second reason, and, I know this from all the research I’ve done, is that, the bizarre art style the characters have in the racing segments is actually meant to be a direct reference to Rat Fink.
I never even knew that, but, no, it is actually true.
Plus, to be fair, the designers worked really hard on those designs, and they look good, in that way.
It was an artistic, stylistic choice.
Back to talking about artwork real quick, I always loved the different title cards for every chapter.
They all look really well done.
That’s why I’m always telling myself, “there was a lot of talent, hard work, and passion that went into these title cards. Whoever drew these must have a lot of passion for art in general.”
Also, Creature From The Krusty Krab was both a launch title for get Wii, and the very first SpongeBob game to be released in Japan.
That’s actually really cool, honestly.
I thought I’d point out that Creature From The Krusty Krab turns 15 over here (the original release date in North America was October 16, 2006) and I’m very excited about that!

Creature From The Krusty Krab is best played on the Wii for the giant plankton level, you get to swing your arms to punch, shake the nunchuck to stomp, and press a button while pointing to fire your eye laser and aim
I’m a huge Creature From The Krusty Krab fan, as this was the only game I remember was actually worth playing out of all my PlayStation 2 games during my childhood.
Throughout the whole video I was concerned you would rank this game as one of the worst, due to all the randomness, lack of plot, and of course, bad graphics. Which I call “Personality”
I know that this game can be very hard on the eyes, and at some points throughout the gameplay it can look like Squidwards nose in a close up shot.
I also know that some parts of the game can be boring and repetitive, such as playing as Giant Plankton and destroying buildings for items such as tickets, hearts, energy, etc.
Although because you ranked this game an “okay” I am fine with your opinions related to this game. As long as you keep it vague.
Because this game is my childhood, any insults made to it, or even talking in the wrong tone about it can make me hate you, and want to throw you into the void which is Patrick’s mind.
Overall, the only reason why I clicked this video was to hear about this game. And if you had said it was any worse than okay I would despise you, and if you said any better I would question your judgement, and mark you as “Unreliable”

I hear alot of people hate the Alaskan Bull Worm belly level, but I love many of the lines in the game, the style in certain areas are creative, and the music is great. I liked the game too

The nostalgia of watching some of these clips (mostly Lights, Camera, Pants, and Battle for Bikini Bottom) was amazing I can't wait for Rehydrated, and I wish I could go back and play Lights, Camera, Pants again

Personally I liked Operation: Krabby Patty, I always remembered playing it on my parents' old computer, especially the boating game. Admittedly, it was a bit buggy at times, but it worked pretty well. Don't ask me about the story or other gameplay, I can barely remember it and wish I could play it again someday for nostalgic purposes.

I personally wouldn't be surprised, the fact that we got a emulated, fixed Superman 64 just gives me the knowledge that there is an emulation of this game and possibly a upgraded, better version of it.

Having only played a couple of spongebob games I remember being like “battle for bikini bottom better be on this list, that game was basically my childhood.” Was very delighted to see it being number one
I like how all my 3 childhood Spongebob games are positive ranked/mentioned in this list. Makes me feel good to never have wasted lifetime for them.
Especially for the movie game, who is definitely my favorite Spongebob game.

vinnythewebsurfer Fawful’s Minion actually said that ROTFD is “the kind of game you need to grow up with in order to love”, and there’s merit to that. All the voice actors are there, the costumes are neat additions (especially the Mermaidman costume), and the worlds are neat to look at. While I haven’t played it myself, I can see what he means.
Michael Nelson oh it very much feels like the case. I’ve never been too experienced with other spongebob games until later on as a 20 year old but ROTFD was there for me as a kid. I loved the music, the costumes and I kinda had to disagree with with strider that it doesn’t feel like you’re in a spongebob world because to me, the levels like the beach and jellyfish fields and even the dark downtown felt very exciting to me even if it wasn’t a perfect 1-1 copy of the show locations and I used to be very captivated by the tension of seeing all my pals get kidnapped by the Flying Dutchman.
The mini golf part however is indeed the worse thing ever and I’ve seen that this games got quite the padding but I just can’t think of is an not being charming in its own way. I would’ve like a remake of this type of game and stuff like BFBB and the spongebob movie game indeed did a better job of being a good spongebob game.
I have terrible flashbacks of the game since it kept crashing and glitching at a certain level.
