Thanks Charlie, you did a good job of showing the advantages on this tent. It’s impressive for sure. It’s also obvious that you have some camping experience in you background. I have in the past helped on a camp for 200 people and it’s incredible how some people roll up with a tent (or half a tent) and no experience at all, and then blame the tent. If you’re going to camp at least put the thing up in the garden beforehand so you know how it goes up, and can be taken down! This one - like most - was no trouble at all as you showed. Have a good trip to France, and enjoy yourself! I’ll be motorcycling to Derbyshire in July in a tiny tent.. and I’m 76 y.o. Keep doing the YT thing, and thanks again. Les
Thank you for this video. An other thing good with this tent (hope you didn't said it in the video...) is that you set up the outter tent first. So, if it's raining, the bedroom inner tent stay dry.
Reviews often fail to show how versatile this tent is. It's nice that you showed how easy it is to use the doors as awnings. Also, with doors on three sides, you can almost always set it up to deal with wind, sun and rain, whichever direction they come from. I carry a cheap 7' x 11' poly tarp to use as a ground cloth. Keeps the tent out of the dir/mud, makes it cozier inside, and gives me a clean surface to pack the tent. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
It's feckin' huge... 1. There's no way I'm carrying that on my bike 2. I don't need a tent that big when I'm bike camping 3. Why do you need to park your bike in a tent? Isn't your bike waterproof? 4. My Decathlon blackout tent, sleeping bag, ground mat, and chair all fit in a bag that size... Sorry, not meaning to be pissy... I'm just amazed how these guys seem to have got so much traction from social media for a product that makes no sense to me . But besides giving out about the tent, I'm enjoying your channel, I'm off to Spain today, so enjoying your French trip!
When camping for 2 nights or more the extra space is great, and very welcome if it chucks it down. The pack size and weight are virtually the same as my Eurohike Avon 3 tent, but the LR is much better to use and quicker to pitch. I have a Decathlon 2 seconds blackout tent for 1 nighters which is brilliant.
I totally agree! Most motorcycles are fairly water-resistant, why cover it? Or just take a lightweight cover if you are really that fussy! I bet that moto-tent wouldn't last five minutes in a strong wind! Ride safe. Love and peace.
This is a good tent for the older rider especially for a long trip worth a look at ,you just want to get it up before it starts to rain you got room to move ,bad weather you could be stuck in one area for two days ,and don’t look to big on the bike
hmmmm.....tent or travelodge.... nope, its defo a travelodge 😀😀😀Great review and its a nice tent but i'll wimp out and stick to more....... em........ homely comforts 😁 Its an age thing
Great review, I have had mine for a year now & just come back from a trip to Switzerland, the South of France & back via the Gorge du Tarn. I am 6' 2", 59yrs & like you need to stand up for comfort - especially putting my jeans on ! The only thing I have done is made my own extra full size "groundsheet footprint" as this helps keep the rest totally dry & I can then roll it up in a dry sack to stop it touching the folded tent. The only thing you forgot to mention was the little pockets for the guy ropes to keep them in one place. It really is a great tent & when biking, we need to make sure we get a good night's sleep. Have fun in France 😊
Looks like a great, well thought out product. Some comments….re the awning I would just angle the pole to create a run-off for water, and my daughter has a blackout tent so the interior stays dark and early sunrises are not a problem… not sure if this is the same. Good review 😊
Ive had the tent for over a year now Charlie and it is the best always put your bike in leaning away from you as you mentioned Get it tucked away towards the corner and there’s enough room to get your seat in aswell if it’s raining You won’t go back to putting your pants on lying down again I always take it with me camping on the bike I don’t find the size or weight a problem Happy camping 🏕️ yo you 👍
Good review, Charlie. At first, when I’d seen these tents, I thought they were a bit over the top, but your review has shown me what a versatile bit of kit this thing is.
I think it's a brilliant tent Charlie very well thought out with hook's & extra pocket's , the main thing for me is room for your bike & the ability to stand up to get dressed , take care & ride safe
If you breakdown you can remove tent from bike and stand it on end as a warning triangle. Great video so many options on how to use it. I will consider this tent when i need a new one.
I just done 8 days Nc 500 in a tent Charlie, & tbh that’s the one thing I won’t do again ,I’m 54, no more multi tenting for me , I think you should revisit your tour of France & either go for a much more compact tent “ light weight “ or go the b&b hotel route. Best of luck to you anyway, all the best . Neil.
Good review, thanks Charlie. If I was in the market for a new tent, this would be the one, but I made the decision last winter that I'm giving up camping. After 60 continuous years, I've paid my dues. Air BnB from now on.
I can see the appeal and cost savings in camping while touring on a bike, but I like my creature comforts, cheap hotels of which there are plenty in France from my travels there. But hey, we're all different, the World would be a boring place if we were all the same, so good on you for taking it on. That review was extensive with a lot of good inforamtion, so although I don't camp, you kept my attention till the end, maybe it's your character or personality not the content, but anyway, enjoy your French trip. I'm looking forward to see where you go and recoginisng the areas that I've travelled.
Looks the perfect tent for the biker, I use Vango and two person tent for one night or three person for 2nights plus. I am 57 with medical issues but still love a bit of camping sleeping in a hiking tent with my dog in the garden tonight. Always look forward to your videos young one 😊😊
2 wks of putting up that tent everyday, you will be doing it with your eyes closed😂, good luck in France, lovely roads, beautiful scenery, I need to get back over there❤
Lol,I am 70 and just bought a scooter,adv150.i am gonna start camping in my jeep, hubby doesnt want to go anywhere,so I guess I am on my own.son works, but he camps, daughter works but never leaves her room.i love the lone rider videos and his tent.just subbed you
Another great video. You make creating these videos look easy. We do not camp, only hotels and resorts but your video is very informative. Thanks again for great video.
This tent looks really good, well thought out and spacious! I have cycle toured a great deal and sometimes wished for a larger tent but was limited by weight and size especially when cycling up big hills. A great review, thank you!
Nice tent, but £££££, just arrived back from a moto camp with my Son, used my HiGear Aura 3, you can stand up in the awning and bedroom, cost around £150, you echoed my thoughts on low tents I'm now 51 and can't be doing with all the kneeling down and crouching, thanks for sharing.
I think that tent is really well thought out, being able to put the bike beside you is super, you did a great job putting it up and down and proved how easy it was.... Bravo Charlie.... Harry 😎
Brilliant tent, very practical for rider camping , watch a few of the lone rider vids , great tent 👍, off to Wales with 9 other guys this weekend, all the devils areas and dams, cheers ,Mitch 👍
Great review. Like you I’m to old (61) to be crawling about all the time lol. I use the Redverz acatama tent which is very similar to the lone rider and I absolutely love it. When camping with mates my tent always ends up being the place everyone comes too if it’s raining and have comfortably had 5 sitting inside and still had room to put a brew on 👍🏼
I’m looking forward to hearing your opinion on this tent after France as that will be a better review to see if it is worth the money. Well demonstrated Charlie! Stay safe !
Look forward to you in your foreign travels testing the tent/garage for real, gonna be interesting, I carry a bike cover with me as nothing worse than a wet bike in the morning.
Now this is what I call a review...good job Charlie👍 I'm tempted already. About the trip to France...the offer is still on to sleep at our place there is always a couch waiting for you. It is not that far away from France., so feel free free to shout out. Grts Danny
I'd consider this tent as an EDC in the car along with my "emergency bag" containing "survival equipment". I'm not allowed a bike these days, my son is afraid I'll fall off, very annoying for a pensioner!
You're only fifty and already tired of climbing in and out of your tent? I'm almost 63 and still doing that :) I must admit the souplesse is mostly gone.... But you know what they say: use it or loose it!! Hope you enjoy your new tent. I hope to visit Snowdonia this summer. So if you see a heavily loaded Bandit GSF1250 with a Dutch license plate, come and say hello!!
Old age is a bugger eh Charley But it's better than the alternative 😉 How many of us have tried to put our pants on in a tent in the middle of the night for a wee and fallen flat on our arses 😂 Nice review and I'm sure you will be able to put it up and down blindfolded after a week 👍 Safe riding matey ❤
It's an old gits tip from a not so much a gentleman, I take an empty milk carton , into the tent with me, it's within easy reach, a bit of a fumble, and instant comfort ! Another good thing ,if it's cold a bit of relief with a hot water bottle! Crude , yes certainly is, but it's not so practical for the Ladies tho!
Really versatile tent Charlie and quick and easy to set up. Regarding the porch area, instead of shortening the poles why not angle them outwards and adjust the guy ropes accordingly. Great video and looking forward to your France tour.
Red Light and Sleep Inertia Sleep inertia-that hard-to-shake groggy feeling upon waking up-is another common side effect of chronic sleep deprivation, and one that red light has been shown to alleviate, according to a study published by a sleep research journal. In this experiment, participants received red light while they were sleeping and upon waking, via red-light masks and goggles. During the three weeks of treatment, most participants reported experiencing more restful sleep, and feeling more alert upon walking. They also performed better on cognitive tests.
Hi Charlie. Looks like a great tent! Be careful with the RE rear rack. I think your bike is an E4, so I’m not sure if it has the most recent, reinforced rack? The older ones are notorious for snapping under load. Hitchcocks do a great replacement rack, bigger and stronger. Also, may I suggest handguards or that you take some spare levers? If you drop the bike the levers will be the first thing that breaks, which will be a bad, bad day. Enjoy France 😊🍷.
Yes, yes, yes..... when you announced the coming of this tent review, I was then literally on thhe look out for a new tent, so deceided to await this video be4 buyin a new one. You've spold it to me... BUT, my cruiser bike is 8.3 feet in length. Have I got room to get it in the garage part and still close both flaps..., I wonder!?
Hi Charlie, Great vid of the tent! I have just purchased through your link! I do have the other lone rider tent but its too small and not great for my back. Lets hope this will be better, thank you.
From what I can see, no vents have been counted. On this tent, ventilation of moist air should be done by wind getting under the cover at the ground and out again at the ground. What if there is no wind? You can open a door. What if it rains? Looking at professional tent makers, one of the main focuses is to get out condensation. Then you have to have a ventilation opening at the top of the tent. Otherwise, it was nice demo of the tent and its facilities and possibilities
I don't know I think that the pack size is pretty darn big, maybe too big for a bike tent. I use a French army tent (2 man) and if its wet an army basha sheet for the bike. Both pack away very small.
Great review Charlie - it looks a very well thought out tent. Having a bag big enough to put it back into is always a good idea. Some manufacturers provide a bag which has only barely enough room to stuff and force the tent back into it. Not sure about the Lone Rider's very red sleeping area interior though: I would prefer a more neutral shade myself.
Looks a great tent you made it look easy well done the awning part collecting water maybe just lower the poles by just pulling the bottom of them to the garage part should lower it a little good luck enjoying the vids x
Really enjoyed your review of the lone rider tent ⛺ it's looks perfect a bit high priced but I guess you get what you pay for . Thanks for sharing your experience 😊
I was looking at getting the wing man of the road tents but as I am also 50 years old the hight is a bit low . But I like the canvas materials and build . Have you you seen them ? I would be interested in your opinions on them 🤔
@@bmwgsblackgus7636 yes! I have tried one, and in my humble opinion, NO. They're like getting into a coffin! My friend tried one, used it 3 times and sold it. Heavy, cumbersome, tiny and claustrophobic. If you can sleep as soon as your eyes close, and not move all night, then maybe, but for me, no no no. I could barely stand it for 10 mins!
My thoughts too 😕 shame tho I liked the tent . I think it's a lone rider tent for me . I'll get one from that code you got . Helps your channel and helps you making these brilliant videos 😃👍
Hello Charlie, followed you from day one and love how you and your channel are progressing, just one minor comment if I may, when you play music I find I am reaching for the volume down button on my laptop as its quite loud then turning the volume back up when you are talking is there anyway of balancing the volume a bit please 😊
I think that it is still very impressive that you are still willing to sleep in a tent! I love the garage feature. You're going to France?!!!! That is awesome! Are you bringing Roger?
Great review of the tent. I think it is good if you are staying for more than one night at campsites and touring around from that base, or if you are travelling with a friend or a group. You plan to move every day, are you travelling with a friend? If you are planning to travel alone then do you feel comfortable leaving a £460 tent strapped to the bike when you go into services, or walk around an attraction en-route?
@restdayrider I have the large pacsafe and awaiting the medium size as the large is awkward to use without it springing back and it pulls the hairs out of your arms when contacting .
Charlie, quite a thorough first impression review and look forward to your end of season thoughts. I have an almost identical tent size wise, a Vango tourisimo 200 which has a 2 berth sleeping compartment and bike garage. I bought it in 2014 for £140 (Go Outdoors sale), should have been over £300 so after 9 years pretty comparable price! I have never put my bike inside and use the extra space as a lounge area. I am classed as disabled but I prefer the term limited and these styles of tent suit me to a “T”. The one thing my tent has that lone rider has not is the Vango tension band system that gives an increased rigidity in strong winds! We are all a bit different so these tents will suit some and not others, I bought a slummit ghobi3 thinking to make putting up and packing away quicker but it isn’t! I’m going to sell the slummit and stick to my Vango!
I get the have to stand up. I’m 42 BUT I was in the army also, soo my knees, back and feet are feeling 60. I am SOOO close on biting the bullet on this. I have been looking at some alternatives but…. We will see. Xmas is coming soon. 😂
This is the best tent/motorbike or cycle I've seen so far
Thanks Charlie, you did a good job of showing the advantages on this tent. It’s impressive for sure. It’s also obvious that you have some camping experience in you background. The garage can be used for another person, bathing or potty or cooking! So versatile!nice to pack up on a dry bike
I've never done lone camping before and this video has got the ball rolling. Thank you.
Great to hear! 😊
Thank you for this video.

One of the best reviews of the Moto tent 👍👍👍
Glad you think so! 😊
Excellent review of this very versatile tent. I can appreciate being able to stand up in a tent and this one does the job. 😊👍🏍
hmmmm.....tent or travelodge.... nope, its defo a travelodge 😀😀😀Great review and its a nice tent but i'll wimp out and stick to more....... em........ homely comforts 😁 Its an age thing
Great video again Sweetheart .. Try reviewing "LoneRider" ADV Tent. I think you'll Love It 😂❤
Great review, I have had mine for a year now & just come back from a trip to Switzerland, the South of France & back via the Gorge du Tarn. I am 6' 2", 59yrs & like you need to stand up for comfort - especially putting my jeans on ! Good to hear it's held up well to touring. 😊
Great video Charlie, thanks for sharing it. 👍👍
Well..I've just done it,bought the interceptor, had a great test ride, loved it bought it.
Awesome!!! 😎
@@restdayrider it actually felt tiny riding it after the strom, but my smile was a mile wide.
Greetings from down under. Always interesting and informative and great soundtrack. Thankyou.
Looks like a great, well thought out product. Some comments….re the awning I would just angle the pole to create a run-off for water, and my daughter has a blackout tent so the interior stays dark and early sunrises are not a problem… not sure if this is the same. Good review 😊
Good review.
S.O.S. side of ground cloth tarpaulin would be better as larger white lettering on a day-glow safety orange field. But love the tent.
Excellent and very comprehensive and instructional video Charlie, hope it brings you lots of joy and ease of use in your forthcoming tour. Take care
Good review Charlie. You have an amazing garden.
Ive had the tent for over a year now Charlie and it is the best
always put your bike in leaning away from you as you mentioned
Get it tucked away towards the corner and there’s enough room to get your seat in aswell if it’s raining
You won’t go back to putting your pants on lying down again
I always take it with me camping on the bike
I don’t find the size or weight a problem
Happy camping 🏕️ yo you 👍
Good to know you're loving it after a year Mick. 😊
Good review, Charlie. At first, when I’d seen these tents, I thought they were a bit over the top, but your review has shown me what a versatile bit of kit this thing is.
That's great Phillip, I'm glad that comes across as that's how I feel about it 😀
I think it's a brilliant tent Charlie very well thought out with hook's & extra pocket's , the main thing for me is room for your bike & the ability to stand up to get dressed , take care & ride safe
Exactly what I prioritise! 😊
Neil.
I may have added in one or two hotel nights, just to re-group. 😊
Good review, thanks Charlie. If I was in the market for a new tent, this would be the one, but I made the decision last winter that I'm giving up camping. After 60 continuous years, I've paid my dues. Air BnB from now on.
I have 9 to go. 😊
Excellent review Charlie. Looks a cracking tent! 👍
I can see the appeal and cost savings in camping while touring on a bike, but I like my creature comforts, cheap hotels of which there are plenty in France from my travels there. But hey, we're all different, the World would be a boring place if we were all the same, so good on you for taking it on. I may, or may not, have booked one or two nights in a hotel on my way round as a treat. 😊
A another enjoyable and informative vlog Charlie ❤❤
Re the awning poles. Next time try crossing them in an X pattern, you can tie them at the intersection. That will bring the top height down.
A great review! Thanks…
Yes, if you lean the bike towards the outside you got more room to play as well as it being a tad safer:-)
What a great setup.
Great review, thank you. I love well thought out design and gear
Same! I don't mind paying for quality stuff that actually does the job!
Looks the perfect tent for the biker, I use Vango and two person tent for one night or three person for 2nights plus.
I am 57 with medical issues but still love a bit of camping sleeping in a hiking tent with my dog in the garden tonight.
Always look forward to your videos young one 😊😊
Very cool piece of kit Charlie, tents have come a long way since my day😉

Gotta say Charlie am well impressed with that tent I will definitely look into it thanks for the review 👍🏻🍺
Awesome, ask any questions and I'll give you an honest answer. And don't forget to use the link if you do go it. 😊
Nice vid Charlie, my previous comments suggested Hollywood beckons, now its QVC I reckon...lol..keep em coming

Great Review Charlie!, Love the flexability of this tent, being able to house the bike is great! Thank you, good luck in France!

This tent looks really good, well thought out and spacious! I have cycle toured a great deal and sometimes wished for a larger tent but was limited by weight and size especially when cycling up big hills. A great review, thank you!

Nice one Charlie, looks like a decent bit of kit...
nice review, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I think you could go wild camping in your back garden Charlie looking at the size of it😅
Nicely put together that Charlie, I liked the invitation of a rear entry ......lol
Well I wanted to cover all options for all audiences. 😊

Brilliant tent, very practical for rider camping , watch a few of the lone rider vids , great tent 👍, off to Wales with 9 other guys this weekend, all the devils areas and dams, cheers ,Mitch 👍
Sound amazing Mitch, have loads of fun and stay safe!
If you put the poles for the awning at an angle, crossed over or towards the tent you'd not damage the shock cord by shortening them
Great review. Like you I’m to old (61) to be crawling about all the time lol. I use the Redverz acatama tent which is very similar to the lone rider and I absolutely love it. Sliding your pole till it hits the end 😂
"Just slide your pole in and you don't have to fanny around" I like your thinking, LOL.
😂
I’m looking forward to hearing your opinion on this tent after France as that will be a better review to see if it is worth the money. Well demonstrated Charlie! Stay safe !

At 51 you need to be able to to stand to put your pants on. Hilarious 😱😲🥴 Good on you and wishing you success in everything you do.

Really versatile tent Charlie and quick and easy to set up. Regarding the porch area, instead of shortening the poles why not angle them outwards and adjust the guy ropes accordingly. Great video and looking forward to your France tour.
Good Tip! 😊
Great review Charlie!
This is the best review I’ve seen on this tent and makes me want it more. But I just can’t justify paying that much for a tent 😢
I understand that totally, glad you liked the review. 😊
great review...... cavalier solitaire Charlie
Thanks for the video... it looks a good tent .. but I'm 6ft 4... im looking at the sleeping area and it looks quite small for a lanky one
To be fair, sleeping solo you would just go diagonally if you were much over 6'2 , still room! 😊
@@restdayrider thank you
Most enlightening and entertaining product review! Good piece of equipment too: By the looks...!'
Lovely stuff!
It is....but why is the inner tent red? Something less ‘bright ‘ to wake up to perhaps.
So, apparently red is one of the perfect colours for the in-between waking and sleeping stage. It certainly wasn't ' in your face ' wake up for me. 😊

I have worked out there will only be 5.8kg on the rack itself, the rest will be on the seat and across the panniers. 😊
Nice.
I would say yes! I have seen pics of people with cruisers in the garage, they just go in at a slight angle. There was so much space it's ridiculous! 😊
If you do decide to go for it, please use the link, it all helps! 😊
Really like this one. I don't like the gyro camera thing at the start makes feeling sick. . Your doing brill .
Sorry about that!
Good review!!
Hi Charlie, Great vid of the tent! I have just purchased through your link! I do have the other lone rider tent but its too small and not great for my back. Lets hope this will be better, thank you.
Ah that's brilliant! I really do like it, and I think at some stage comfort has to come first!
Apparently the red is something to do with the sleep / wake cycle adjustment and actually assists easing one to the other. 😊
Looks a great tent you made it look easy well done the awning part collecting water maybe just lower the poles by just pulling the bottom of them to the garage part should lower it a little good luck enjoying the vids x
Good tip! 😊
Really enjoyed your review of the lone rider tent ⛺ it's looks perfect a bit high priced but I guess you get what you pay for . Thanks for sharing your experience 😊
It really is made of good stuff, I think it is indeed one of the 'get what you pay for' scenarios.
Nice one 👍
there are pockets where the guy lines attach to store them in when packing away
I missed that trick!
Yup! 2 weeks of touring about on Roger. 😍
That is some tent! I have found that a bad tent means bad sleep.
thought you were younger, loving the pleats
Great review on a nice looking bit of kit, Just wonder how it would stand up to the gale force winds we get on the West of Scotland.
I'll soon find out! Maaaaaybe doing the NC500 soon. 😊
@@restdayrider Come up within the next two weeks. The weather is superb.
I shall be in France enjoying their sun in the next 2 weeks, but hopefully August will still be nice in Scotland. 😊
Might you make it to the ABR festival, be good to see you there.👍🏻
Sadly not this year, I'm in France, but definitely next year! 😊
It's a valid point, I have a Pacsafe mesh net and padlock for my bags on the bike. 😊
@restdayrider I have the large pacsafe and awaiting the medium size as the large is awkward to use without it springing back and it pulls the hairs out of your arms when contacting
.
