Try looking for "Jelly Shoes", that's what we 80's kids called them. I found a similar pair at Walmart. They have translucency and glitter and are fun for the Summer.
Tip: put the pins horizontally over the line you want the seam to be so you can sew over them withouthaving to stop replace them all the time. It's like the add symbol: + horizontal resembles the pin and vertical resembles the to-be-seam. Make sure that the pins are really perpendicular to the seam or they will get inbetween the mechanism that pushes your fabric under the foot of the sewing machine. Hope this is useful! Edit: When you use this method, pins without the little knobby thing are the best to use becuase they can get in the way.
I actually never recommend sewing over pins. It causes your machine to eventually go out of alignment and you'll spend more money later on down the road getting it tuned up.
Jelly shoes thankfully can also be made out of hot glue look up a tutorial on making a hot glue phone case and you can do the same with your foot obviously you would have to make a little bit more of a heat protection between your foot and the plastic mostly because hot glue is well hot. Phone seem to work best for the heat resistant and I just mailed it a piece of foam over my foot and then put the plastic over that then I crisscrossed all kinds of hot glue on the top and around followed the line of a shoe. A sandal shape can also be made out of it but I tend to do the top half and then the bottom half separate and glue them together after their off my foot and cooled.

TnT Cosplay has good quality EVA foam in a bunch of thicknesses, smooth on both sides. If you want to go cheaper you can get EVA foam floor mats from a hardware store, they're almost always textured on the one side but if it's not going to be seen it doesn't matter.
