    How I build some simple standard wings.
    They are super easy to build out of cheap materials and the attachment is invisible.
    Hope this helps! ♥
    Materials:
    -Aluminium PVC pipe (needs to be a bit flexible/(heat)bendable)
    -Worbla Finest Art (Roughly half of a XS sheet (5€) is enough)
    -EVA Foam / carpboard (as core material)
    -Hot glue
    -Velcro tape
    -Plastic foil / Laminate Wood Floor Underlay / Acoustic White Foam (German name is 'Trittschalldämmung')
    Tools:
    -Hot Air Gun
    -Scissor
    -Hot glue gun
    -Jigsaw (for cutting the pipe)

    Oooo, I've been planning an Aziraphale/Crowley cosplay for a while and this gives me several great ideas and a base for their wings! I love watching time lapses. My only question is about the base, I see that it's foam covered in warbla (right?) with velcro (industrial strength I'm thinking) but how did u attach the wings to the cosplay its self? A harness of some kind?

    • @seme
      @seme  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Glad it helps ❤️ You're right so far, and it's good velcro but not industrial actually. The bigger and heavier the wings, the stronger the attachment needs to be. In this case, they are so lightweight, the attachment plate alone, without an additional harnish or so on can be sewn to the back of the costume without dropping it physically

    so they are just attached with velcro? and, do you think ay other materials than worbla would work? I want to make these, but in a bit of a different style so I want to understand them the best I can.

    • @seme
      @seme  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, only velcro. This works only when they are small and lightweight enough though. The base covered in worbla can be built in many different ways. You just need to make sure it's stable enough and the veclro is super fix on it. Even sewing velcro to fabric would work if the farbic wraps around something stiff and stable.

I’m not sure if I have it in my country, are there any replacements? It’s just a hard thing to keep the wings straight?

    • @seme
      @seme  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! :) It's a thermoplastic material, it's soft and moldable when heated up and sturdy and hard when it cooled down again. Also it keeps its shape afterwards. The thicker the layers, the more sturdy the result. You can actually replace this with different materials/techniques, it just worked best for me since it comes in very handy. If you search for 'Worbla Finest Art', you should find many shops that ship worldwide who sell it.

      The foam in the video is spray painted! But you need to use not-too-toxic paint for it, I used graffiti spray paint and nowadays I'd use airbrush colours.

    I think the best part about these wings it that because there is very little framework and hard material, you're less liking to hit someone with them, and bumping into something won't immediately break them.

    • @seme
      @seme  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually you can throw them on the ground and nothing would happen and yeah, they are soft and can't hurt someone XD

      @@seme I'll definitely keep that in mind when I make my next set. Just finished a pair for a convention and I used acrylic based spraypaint which is great for going over foam because it's not harsh like oil based, but it's not very flexible. Any movement makes it crack and its kinda flaky.
