  • After a thorough clean, I decided I needed to revisit the headlights and do it properly this time, I bought a kit off Amazon but even that didn't totally work, until I found a aerosol clear coat specifically designed for headlights, which, after a full sand-back and polish, left these headlights looking brand new! I can't recommend the E-TECH headlight clear coat enough!
    Here is the eBay link to where I bought the clear coat: www.ebay.com/itm/123821292309
    E-TECH also make a full restoration kit, including the clear coat which I would buy if doing this again, you can find it here: www.amazon.co.uk/BITS4REASONS...

    The Ford part number for the rear light clips is: 1231405 you can get them here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284347254215

      Love to hear it, thank you my friend. I hope you enjoy the car! Mine have gone foggy again, I would suggest perhaps trying out a different clearcoat. There is a 2k clear for headlights by Spraymax, that’s what I plan to try next time. But do be carful if you use 2k products as they are nasty, you need to wear a respirator to spray with them 👍🏻

    13:05 do you plan to do a video on the bumper sag by the lights? I had a quick look at mine and it would seem if you apply outward force where the black clip meets the floor pan underneath the radiator cage it lifts the bumper up eliminating the gap by the light.

    I really struggled with this clear coat, if you follow the directions to spray 8 to 12 inches away it goes on dry and cloudy, you have to keep it 4 inches away to get a wet coat, but even then I ended up with some hazy streaks. The headlights looked better before applying it.

      I got exactly same problem, how did u sorted?

    • @norm4260
      @norm4260 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hardytch8264 I bought a selection of sanding pads 800/1000/1500/2000/2500 to use with my random orbital polishers. I went over the lights til they were clear and shiny. Then covered them with a thin layer of Gtechniq C4, which is meant as a back to black plastic restorer but it also works as a UV blocker on headlights. It's been 6 months since applying it and they haven't yellowed yet. I read to steer clear of lacquering the lights because it can peel and cause bigger issues!

    A good headlight restoration well done!! I can't understand why it was necessary to remove the headlights? If you follow the instructions there's no spatter and of course the correct speed on the drill head, Tapeing the headlight is a must do to protect the paintwork,Dry sanding produces better results overall, I find grit size first P500 this removes the damaged surface that is exposed to the sun (ultraviolet radiation) Use a blower to remove dust from headlight + Only light pressure on the drill head remember to overlap side to side action and up and down, Change grit pad to P800 and continue as before, Then Spray lens with water glass cleaner starting from top to bottom let the liquid run down the lens, Wipe down using a clean micro cloth, When the lens is dry buff with polish making sure a higher speed is used keeping the polishing head moving, Again use a clean micro cloth to remove any dust before spraying a clear coat leave to dry a second coat maybe needed depending on product selected, 👍🇬🇧🤔

    Hows the E-tech lacquer holding up? Looking at re-doing my headlights again as they have started to go hazy again after a year or so (I used the auto glym kit which is sand and polish only)
