This bi-42 unit developed a manifold water leak due to years of neglecting maintenance. This is the main reason we see this problem develop. We upgrade the filter manifold to a new style in this video and show a glimpse of the repair.
I would not tackle this job DIY style but if you need in depth instructions, a nice instruction manual is given with the part when purchased through your authorized parts distributor.
This particular job was done in Bergen county, NJ. The manifold housing warped due to heat and began a slow leak. The filter may never have been changed since 2009 when the machine was installed, we do not know.
Keeping your condenser clean will prevent this and most sub zero unit now do not have an issue like this as the manifold was upgraded over the years.

Same thing happened to mine but no leaks at all until I went to change the filter. As soon as I push the filter in, it clicks on and floods out. Tried 2 new filters and went through a lot of towels. Wish you guys were in MA, this is exactly what I need!
