First saw them live in 1987. I still have the scar on my knee from having to jump off the stage when a security guard spotted me trying to grab Bernard's set list off the floor. Totally worth it!
Was on an inflatable in the wavepool at Wet'n'Wild in Florida, age 12, with my first ever pair of sunglasses on. This started blasting out with the wave machine. August 1989. I've never felt that cool ever since.
Bernard’s vocals are so clear in this mix. Really gives it more feeling. Up to the listener if that’s a good thing! Love the subtly modified drum beat too.
NEW ORDER FOREVER!
Blue Monday still "slaps", as they say these days. Had this at my friend's wedding and the place lost their shit, everyone was dancing, pogo-ing, losing it. KIller tune NO!
This may well be Blue Monday 1988 (Dub), track 2 from the edition of 6000 of the CD-Video single, which you can only view the videoclip with a Laserdisc player. It's 7'27".
wow what a great way to start friday 13th but now we know how they acquired the 1995 remix vocal. But heres the thing right!...which came first, did Michael do this version, and then they got Quincey to remix and shorten this??? cos if they had left it alone, and even shorten Michaels version it would have been better and coulda went to No.1
I'm very sad because in Spain, the bad insurance company Mutua Madrileña used Blue Monday as soundtrack in its last campaign for tv and radio ads and now I hate this wonderful song (of course I hate Mutua so much more)
Recently, the Hungarian TV and radio adverts for the German discount store Aldi are using the rhythm section of Blue Monday (while an uncannily enthusiastic and quick voice lists all the discounted items that can be had this week). I'm hoping the band gets a few pounds off of this...
I believe this is the only song from the early 80s that is still “relevant” and modern sounding today. I don’t quite think New Order realized what they were doing when they made this song just as a stand in so they didn’t have to do encores…… This will forever be my all time favorite song. Released on my mother’s birthday when I was 10 years old. ❤
I remember reading Peter Hooks book about his time recording in New Order, how Bernard would always lower his bass in the mix, seems like that's happening again and no one seems to care about the muting of such an integral part of the song (I know it's a remix, but still, they've lost a lot of the soul in this mix).
I would agree. I feel this version feels too toned down. My favorite version of this song is when the bass is kicking and the synth drops in. That’s the only way this song should be in my humble opinion.
Huge NO fan, but this is a remix I don't find exciting to finally get to hear in addition to what we already have. If it's not significantly different what's the point in owning it, regardless of how good it is.

Michael Johnson is the quiet genius 'engineer' at the core heart of the groups studio recordings. Thank you Michael !
Yeah, worked with Pink Floyd and of course Joy Division.
@fadedge he's got credits on loads of records. Factory in house at points. Stockholm Monsters, Railway Children etc
@@andrewhurst9823 great times...
@@andrewhurst9823 trying to remember were i've heard you before? JDC?

My 8 year old grandson has just heard this and danced all the way to the end
He had his first new order experience welcome to the club may he hear many more tunes to dance to 👍
No matter the mix or style, this song is a classic!!
QUINCY JONES: R.I.P.!
🔅Always remember: throw all your vinyl at the undead, except for this one. 📀
Still listening to NO in 2024
Me too

For the rest of my life
Same
Always and forever!

Listening in the Ozarks, Missouri. ❤
This made me feel like I did in ‘83 as a 13 year old hearing BM for the first time! Magic!!! ❤😊

Love the subtly modified drum beat too.
That's a great mix
10 minutes ago? Thanks, algorithm
For me was the most scaldinghot breakdance tune way back🤭
Still topcision today~

Since 1988 my favorite band... miss you #peterhook
Still got this 12’🕺🕺✌🏻😎
Greetings from Berlin, Germany!
I was expecting a bit of Countdown at the start...haha, excellent remix.
I like how you can still hear the Salford.
Nouvelle version d’un morceau mythique intemporel !
Best remix of the Countdown timer music ever.
Superb!
Happy Friday !!!🖤🔥🎶🎶🎹
The vocals are incredible here
Little snippets of The Beach in there too.
Black Friday 2024
Yes!
Amazing.
Drum track is similar enough to feel familiar but just different enough to mess with your expectations in the best way.
pretty sick
I can hear it again and again...
Still dancing to this awesome music in 2024! 🕺🎶😄

There seems to be a remix of Blue Monday for every day of the year. What more could you want?
I have at least 250 versions and remixes of it…. Yea I may be a little obsessed. Lol
Blue Monday still "slaps", as they say these days. Had this at my friend's wedding and the place lost their shit, everyone was dancing, pogo-ing, losing it. KIller tune NO!
So much better without all the Qwest SFX dubs. Nice and clear.
yeah and all those chipmunks.
🎵🎶🎹👏👏👏 🎵🎶
How could this version be unreleased for so long? I'm sure Rhino had the bottom of the New Order barrel scraped clean ages ago...
Listening in Southern Oklahoma! 😉🥲😮👌🤨
how i love the 80s blue Monday is my favorite song

Naw, it's a different mix

🇵🇱 Poland 🇵🇱 👍 👌 ✌️ 💪 👊 🇵🇱 Poland 🇵🇱
Na balada s80✌️💯

Podia fazer em video esta versao.

Interesting but can't get used to the vocals. Also, the beat lacks the drive of other versions. Still great to hear it it.
Probably mastered to suit ear buds, and YT LUFS averages might have done a number on it.
I agree
has anyone played this at 1.25 😅
This is original
21th Century's classical music

I Love listen New Order include in publicity like Mutua Madrileña. Thanks New Order, Mutua or whatever use good music❤
and now ? swifty?
Pero vente a la Mutua 🤣

😂 Okay, now get over it! 😂 💽📡🎸🎹🎼🎤
This reminds me of the 90s remixes of 1963 in that I pretty much can’t even tell it’s anything new. At least I’m not out $10 this time.
I wonder whether this vocal was planned to be used on BM '88 and dropped in favour of the original vocal line?
Hence it was never released....
oh sheet
Does anybody have reliable info as to when those new vocals were recorded?
1988. But then they decided to go with the original vocals for the commercial release

Not a fan of the alternate vocals
Is this a recent remix? What’s with the vocal take? It sounds like modern Barney, not 1988 Barney, and with no effects… it’s too raw for the song.
I’ve been a fan since 83 and I completely agree with you. The vocals stick out.
This is a lesser known 88 version, but I can't explain the lyrics.
In headphones the vocals sound far better than the original.
I would agree. I feel this version feels too toned down. My favorite version of this song is when the bass is kicking and the synth drops in. That’s the only way this song should be in my humble opinion.

If this is a 1988 remix, why is it using the vocals from the 1995 remixes?
First
Does not do the song justice.
horrible mix
