Nice detailed video, much appreciated! Really useful listening to the 'two pilot' interaction where options exist, but both are right. When are the tee-shirts coming out with the new catchphrase 'Let's have a chat about it' :-) (Features in your pre-take off briefings and needs more of them I reckon!) Did you swerve the engine failure question by responding to Farnborough, or is that on the cutting room floor? Great stuff.
Out of curiosity. Why do u do your checks on the runway? I know its a very quiet air strip but is there no a tiny risk that another aircraft approaches without knowing your are there?
Doing them on the runway isn’t common practice however there was good reason, on this occasion. Due to a slightly performance limiting take-off Martin felt it was more appropriate to do the final checks just before we departed as there was less of a risk of something changing with the long backtrack. We were clearly visible on the threshold and it is the responsibility of arriving aircraft to ensure the runway is clear before they land. They could’ve done this through using the radio frequency or flying an overhead join or runway inspection.
I am an American pilot, but really looking forward to doing my first bit of UK flying next month. I'll be flying with Echelon too.
Your RT is so smooth :) Very nice video, it was like being in the back seat.
