Good video Ian. I agree having flown in the USA, we do have a habit of over complicating the GA flying in the UK. Your trip is a prime example of how GA can be used to work efficiently. All the best, Lee
starting my flighing lessons at biggin hill on some weeks , gonna be expensive but damn it i will be the very best pilot i ever meet one day , loved the vid and was a nice insight where i have wondered how having aviation in my skillset would be as i would love to take a day up in the sky when i feel like it
@TeeC efg , its biggin hills flying school and has been a while since i last went up as im late on getting my driving licence , once i can drive there ill be more happy to fly any day realy
@@FLYERTV The SkyEcho does look good and Flarm as well. We were debating if it was worthwhile using ADS-B in Paragliders following the new Farnborough CTA-8 (Class E+TMZ) if they start to accept ADS-B. That 1000ft extra makes all the difference when gliding. Saying that quite a few have managed the route down from the Cotswolds or Berkshire to the South Downs just keeping under the 4,500ft ceiling at that point. Nice video BTW thanks!
Hi Ian, I must say I laughed when you mentioned the landing fee for EGKB during the live stream last week - but as you say you did get a free can of coke and branded Hi-Viz, maybe it was £12 to land, £3 for the coke and £39 for the Hi-Viz! They are clearly doing everything possible to dissuade GA from using the field (we saw their attempt to evict tenants last year) and favour Private Jets/SETP's and Helicopters living up to their tagline "London's Dedicated Business Aviation Airport" for which an inflated landing fee is trivial compared to the cost per hour of flight, this is such a shame for a historic recognised airfield which I'm sure many of us would love to get in their logbook - actually in their AIP it states their airport regulations that Microlight Flying is prohibited (so presumably no Gyroplanes either) which is a further shame. In contrast I paid £18 to land at a very quiet Duxford last week which although clearly more expensive than the norm £5 - £12 for a Gyro/Microlight/SEP was and does contribute to the upkeep of the IWM at Duxford, the airfield has fantastic facilities, RFFS and an FIS from their ATC who were fantastic, I'm reallty looking forward to going back when the museum reopens in a few days.

Very enjoyable video, plenty of variety in there to stay interested throughout and some good info to pick up 👌👍
It's good to have a heavy workload flight from time to time. It keeps one's skills honed.
I enjoyed the video. Thank you.

You would have flown over my house on approach
What mount do you use for external mounting and what cam
Hi, nice video :). Little question: what is the little white box at your left? (Attached to the windshield). Thanks
It's a SkyEcho 2. In the UK it does ADS-B in and out, but I use it as a GPS source for my iPad and for seeing FLARM equipped traffic.
@@FLYERTV Great thanks very much for the info :)

More fool you for forking out £50+ to land at Pigging Hell......
What kind of AOA indicator is that on your dash?
It's the Bendix King KLR10
