Yes, these tips will work for all ages of dogs. However, if your dog is older and has had a lot of time establishing habits of unwanted behavior, you'll have to be extra patient and extra consistent with the training. You'll also need to put steps in place to prevent the old habit entirely.
If you’re looking for more info on building a good schedule for your puppy, you’ll love this video! th-cam.com/video/nXYESHToN28/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RdvNFAfrvG0P-j6r

Neuter surgery + adolescence might make it seem like he forgot all his skills. But he's still got them, he just needs a refresher. Take a few steps back on training, work on it every day and you'll get there!

I am wondering about decompression walks. Is it OK to carry your new puppy to a nearby area for some fun sniffing? Could I first do a 1 minute training? And then let him sniff and explore 5 minutes. Then carry him back home?
We don't recommend carrying him. This is often uncomfortable for the dog and doesn't allow him to adjust to the environment at his own pace. You might accidentally be pushing him too close to something scary (even a smell). If there's no where near your home to do some quiet sniffing, you can take him in the car and even do it from the car.

We are moving toward the higher levels of sleep. For night time he gets up every 3 hours to potty and goes to sleep about 8:30 and gets up at 7:00. I do notice when it is time for a nap he is more bitey and harder to focus.
My puppy is only 6 weeks old when we took him home the other day is it to early to train him because of his young age ? We are trying to get him used to his environment but we’re already overwhelmed because we want to do the best thing for our puppy.
It's never too early to get started but due to his young age he will need you to be extra patient! This video can help you, even if he's a bit younger than 8 weeks. Just go slow and watch his body language for signals that he needs a different activity! th-cam.com/video/DoRDuTxQTHo/w-d-xo.html
It's not always realistic to ask the dog to share the toys with another dog. Most of the time we recommend that each dog have their own and be given their own space to enjoy their toy or treat or chew. If you're seeing resource guarding (growling when a human or other dog approaches) this video can give you some good tips. If you're enrolled in our training program we have more resources to help if you have two dogs, and also more tips on resource guarding. th-cam.com/video/avLVCXm1XLo/w-d-xo.html
I brought home my 7 1/2 week old puppy 4 days ago! We just started crate training today and she went right in and laid down. She is taking her first nap in her crate with the crate door closed. Is this okay if I eventually want to leave her in the crate while at work and have her sleep in it at night. I want the crate to be a happy place for her and I so far she has not cried or whined to get out! Thanks
You're doing all the right things by helping her love the crate with the door closed. As long as she's not panicking, it's great that you are closing the door. Eventually you can definitely leave her in the crate when you go to work. You'll just have to work up to the length of time you will be gone. She's probably not ready for more than an hour or two in the crate at a time just yet due to her small bladder.
I really don’t understand how im supposed to take my 6 week year old puppy outside instead of using pee pads. I live in a second story apartment. I want to put puppy pads outside on my balcony is that recommended? I want him to get used to being outside and not use the bathroom inside since it doesn’t teach them the right way.
You can easily put a tray of grass on your balcony. That will help him know that outside - on the grass - is the place for potty. This video can also help you! th-cam.com/video/IEFzbvmZzSw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=a2-5MDxamubNfQhB

I like your content BUT the never ending requests for comments on all sorts of topics gets really tiring and makes me want to go elsewhere. We understand that increases your income from the TH-cam algorithm but over and over again?
I see this as trying to learn more what works, what doesn't and what works the best. To expand the knowledge base. Plus, people in comments that are commenting are most likely interested in other people experiences. People love to talk about their successes (and their failures also). We are all learning. And, I am happy, and I do not mind for sure, when I see how all that useful sharing-knowledge stuff is monetized 😊

It sounds like the two dogs are not ready to be together, or maybe they can be together in very short timeframes. Once you start to notice the other dog become uncomfortable that's the time to end the session. That might mean only a few minutes of play but that's what's best for both of them. You can look for a puppy playmate for your golden, who might have a more similar play style.

Thanks for watching! 🐶 How is puppy training going for you? Did you learn anything in this video?
5 months golden retriever. His favorite reinforcements are:
1 - Play or attention
2 - Treats
3 - Toys (unless it is a toy that promotes #1 like a ball or flirt pole)
4 - Kibble
Usually I use treats indoors for training but definitely attention, pets or play is what he looks outside either from other people, dogs or me.
It's great that you know his hierarchy of reinforcements!
