    Your channel is saving my life. In 3 days in and you’ve already pointed out so many wrongs I’ve done with my goldendoodle. I have my hands full- he’s only 6 weeks old and I feel like he needed more time with mom and mates

    Our dogs are in crates when we travel with them. One of our dogs will dig at the bedding in the crate if we humans are thoughtless and don't warm up the car before leaving. She doesn't like the cold bedding. She doesn't do this in warmer weather of if we've warmed the car up in the colder weather.

    My bischon/poodle 11 lbs does not like to snuggle
    With me in bed or on my lap?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not all dogs like to snuggle. But I'm sure there are other things you can do together that build your bond. Have you tried decompression walks or fun enrichment activities?

    Good to know zoomies after a bath are normal.

    The very first time we put our 9 week old puppy in the new crate, she pooped and peed in it. I had set it up as a nice bedroom with blankets and toys but she only used it as a bathroom.
    She's very wild and torments my other two dogs so I wanted the crate to keep her away from them and so that she didn't have full run of the house when we were out. Now I'm thinking of returning it. 😢

      Hi Bella,
      I know it’s probably extremely frustrating to deal with these issues, just wanted to provide some encouragement on sticking with it, it’s a 9 week old puppy and is still learning.
      She has a video called introducing a “puppy to a dog”and she goes over some of your issues. Really good video.
      Good luck with your newest member! Give her a chance ❤

    I've seen them all. The only thing is I consider her a strong-willed pup. She does everything when she get's ready! Shell be 4 in Sept.

    Love your channel, completely disagree with your explanation of pancaking. In my experience it's the dog saying "I don't want to go where were headed" and that probably means back home. It can also mean "I want to go over there and you want me to go this way" and it's a way of refusing your leadership on the walk. "Either we sit here or you carry me" is also a reason for pancaking. Has nothing to do with being overwhelmed, obviously a dog will lay down due to any sort of negative situation but when you're walking and they pancake, you can easily unpancake by leading them in the direction they want to go. If they don't want to go anywhere, carry them home or take a nap on the spot.

      @HowToTrainADreamDog  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In our experience pancaking means "I don't want to go there" or "I'm too overwhelmed to continue". Either way it's time to listen to the dog and either change your direction or try a new method. We don't recommend picking up the dog, as you take away the dog's ability to communicate his feelings about where you're going.

    We see Trace digging in his beds, pushing with his front feet. Why is he doing this? It looks like he is having fun. Another thing he does is bite on his beds. We ended taking them up and learned he just prefers a blanket on the floor.

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Trace was probably just getting comfortable or maybe even playing with this bed. It's good that you took it away if he was biting it.

    Help! I have a two year-old Heinz 57 female I adopted from a rescue. She and her brother were dropped off at the Mexico American border with their eyes closed. They were split up as puppies and she is now two.
    The second one is 16 months old she came from a shelter and was about to be euthanized. She just finished a litter of pups at 14 months old. She is trained and so smart and just a doll never barks nothing.
    The third one is a Rescue failure yes I failed. She is three months old now a female Chihuahua totally potty trained, and everything. I tried to put her in except a crate. She’d climb over baby gates metal gates. It didn’t matter she just slipped right over it the other two dogs play in the backyard quite rough And she has now picked up that behavior. They send her rolling and she gets back up and goes at it again, two of the three walk on a leash the one that was found at the border does not she’s very leery, but has since now come around when she wants to She has no play skills because of no litter. she plays really rough and also barks and barks and barks when she plays so much so that a neighbor has said something to me twice and I have tried everything and nothing has worked. My Vet said good luck because that’s her way of communicating when she’s playing I need to get all three of them under control and trained when I’m working without one the other two come and interrupt. Everything I’ve gotten accomplished is all wiped away again oh and here’s a good one number one has taught number three to sit on the end of my bed. Look at herself in the mirror in my bathroom and bark. I need some help.

      It sounds like you would really benefit from having a trainer come to your home to work with you and your pup. Unfortunately, the training industry is not well regulated and you have to do your research to make sure the trainer you work with uses fear free and positive methods based in behavioral science. Credentials to look for in a trainer would be Fear Free Certified, CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed) and/or CBCC-KA (Certified Behavior Consultant Canine-Knowledge Assessed.) Here is a directory that might be helpful:
      www.ccpdt.org/dog-owners/certified-dog-trainer-directory/
      Or one other option in case you need more resources:

    My puppy will dig before taking a nap, so I know that when I see her starting to dig on a towel or the rug, that she needs to go for a nap really soon.

    Michelle maybe is a silly question but what time is the best for start training my 3 months old Golden Retriever is my first time N I don’t know if I do mornings when he’s so full of energy or I can do and afternoons 🫣🤷🏻‍♀️🫶🐾🐾🐾 thank you so much 🙏

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's best to do training in very short periods in the middle of the wake window, when your pup isn't full of energy but isn't getting too tired either. Her wake window should be no longer than 1.5 to 2 hours at this age. After that period she'll need another nap and then the cycle repeats! Try to fit in a short training session into each wake window.
