The times, they are a "changin" and since Resolve 19 there is another way to do Noise Reduction. With Temporal Noise, I stick to "3 frames" and Motion "Better". However I turn on the Hightlight Mask and then hit A/B to Highlight Difference. This gives me a Grey Viewing Area Box. I then move the Temporal Threshold sliders ever so slowly. I keep moving the slider until I see changes in the grey viewing area. When I can just about make out what it is that the clip should look like then I stop moving the slider. I then turn off the Mask to reveal the clip. And the Temporal Threshold is accurately set. Now for the new exciting update for Spacial Noise Reduction. Since Resolve 19, there is a new mode called "UltraNR". Just select it, click the Analyze button and let Resolve do all the work from there. Don't fiddle with any boxes or settings. Resolve is really good at working out the Spatial NR. With these two techneques you will have Noise Reduction "Dialled in" in seconds with really good results, far better than eyeballing it yourself.
Thanks for the video. I think that even if you "set" the noise reduction note first, after you set up the parameters, might be a good idea to turn it off for smoother playback.
Thank you for watching! Comment your thoughts, subscribe, and color grade!
Thank you Mr Aparicio
