FAQ ANSWERS: The beat markers are there for you to time the clips of your choice to whatever length you want. I only showed a short example but if you continue to add clips and do the same techniques I show you on every one of your clips, you will get a complete edit. As long as you trim the compound to the markers you set, the speed ramping will fit within that time frame when adjusting the spline in the fusion window. The speed ramp curve is up to your own creative decision, but the S curve and boomerang curve I show in the video are the two most common curves. ALSO: I made the beat markers ON the actual song resulting in not seeing it in the spline window. If you want to see the markers in the fusion page while adjusting the spline, then make the markers on the timeline level instead of on the song, then you'll be able to see them in fusion :)
I'm glad you didn't title this "EASY" NEW WAY.... Because this is complicated AF!! This is literally Level 9000 Advanced Davinci techniques so I hope your subscribers are experienced users or even experts at Davinci! For folks like me, I imagine I could spend some time with this and learn most of it but it's so complicated I would be beholden to coming back to this video if I ever wanted to repeat this process. Practice will obviously make us perfect but man, this ish is probably the most complicated Davinci tutorial I've ever seen! Lol But hey, thanks a ton for putting this out there. I know how much goes into these videos. I also like how you don't dink around explaining ish that people should already know. You're wham, bam, bam, wham and I appreciate that!
We finally got a Fusion remap video, I've been using this method for years🔥 One thing I'll add is that if you're syncing your velocity points on a beat, I find it way easier to add the beat markers onto the actual timeline instead of in the audio clips. That way, you can see the markers in the Spline editor inside of Fusion and add keyframes where those markers are. Great video! Edit: I didn't see that there was more to your pinned comment. Sorry for repeating what you said 😅
This is the best speed ramp tut for DaVinci on the internet. This is way better and more flexible than the edit page speed ramp stuff that you see all the time.
Hello, I hope you are well. I like your work, it is beautiful, but I wanted to ask how to change the appearance of the software, because I find the black super beautiful.
thanks for this guide, its really awesome, but I have one question. How do you see your marked beats to use it on your speed ramp points on the spline in the Fusion Tab? greetings
Great video, I had learned this way recently, I defiantly got some tips from you that I think I was doing wrong. Two things that I struggle with. When I use tracker, it is not always as smooth as I would like, I was surprised to see the amount of movement in your clip still work out for tracker. I think I learned something about how I was centering the clip vs you so I hope that helps. As for your Time Stretcher, how do you avoid it slowing down too much? I have an issue with this and then the footage looks a little stuttery like it was slowed too much. Also, how do you go faster? Sometimes I feel I need the speed part of the ramp to be faster. Does this have to do with the long amount of frames that you include in the ramp but not in the clip selection?
If you want to match beat cut just go into the fair light page and switch it to by tempo instead of frames. Set the BPM and bing bang boom now your editing to the beat
what are your timeline settings? and do you keep the video speed at 100% or do you slow it down to 50% for example when you shoot 60fps on a 30fps timeline. :D I think I always fuck this one up hahah, great video btw!
Am I missing something? I don’t see how you are timing the speed ramps, with the beats. I also have no idea what the ‘d’ then copy the blur, and ‘d’ again was all about. I found this all a little confusing sorry.
You have to put the markers on the timeline, not on the music track, then you can see the markers in fusion spline. Only thing that's getting tricky in the spline section, selecting the actual keyframe won't work all the time, you'll have to move the marker a bit. Hope that helps ✌
at about 3:08 he sets his clip to the beat and then trims it to 4 beats. the "d" is to disable the adjustment clip because its hard on your processor, so to disable and then reenable it. Hope that helps!
I say in the video that using motion blur sucks up a lot of your computers resources so I deactivate it until Im ready for the final render. And as far as timing the speed ramps, Im really confused what you don't understand as all you have to do is make sure you line up the clip and clip length to the beat markers, trim, and it matches up.
I've read all the comments and no one seems to have an answer, unfortunately. How do you ensure you don't dip below your timeline FPS and get staccato-like playback? The other method you reach you has more control to make sure you don't.
Hey brother awesome video! You just saved us editors a loooot of the time now we don't have to move back and forth between AE and DVR just to fine tune that ramp! I had a question though! I see you using the Rectified Audio Wave forms in your editing timeline and I get it! Makes hella easier to mark out beats and see the audio levels more visually! I just couldn't figure out on how so set it as default for every project! Can you help me out here? Much Appreciated Brother! Love from India!🖐❤
Great Video!!! And a happy new year ✌🏼One question: Can you show us in a separate video, which curves in the Spline Editor are still possible for this technique and whether you can then save this Fusion tree as a macro (drfx file or similar) for other projects, so that you don't always have to start all the speed ramps from scratch when you start another project?
Nice work. Call me when BM gets XML and AAF speedramp metadata to transfer across to Fusion's far superior spline editor. Seriously, just merge the Resolve and Fusion apps properly into something of beauty BM, instead of a stuttery playback live-switching jankfest of workarounds. You can do it: I want to believe you care about the Finishing market.
Sorry but how is this easier than the standard speedramping method? It's like 1000 more steps lol Nice to show another way though and it sure has it's use cases
you right man, I wonder what it must have been like before if this method is the easiest? lol It took him 8:11 minutes to explain, you can already see that it was difficult. Davinci Resolve could create a more intuitive and practical way to quickly use speedramps
Actually there's an easier way to do that. 1) First of all take and adjustment clip and make it a Reference composition. 2) In that clip use the Planar Tracker instead of the normal one so that you can zoom crop automatically. 3) Afterwards use a Transform node and use the Anim Curves modifier so that you dont have to do the curves manually. 4) Just select Custom, make keyframes for the zoom in only, Easing and select circ in and out, which is exactly what you did manually. 5) Then check the Mirror box and you have a perfectly mirrored animation that works in conjunction with the length of the clip automatically, however much you stretch it. You can then link the reference composition to any adjustment clip and have clones of this effect that you can change globally each time.
I have used both techniques quite extensively and both have flaws. The classic way sucks for boomerangs or at least it is a bit clumsy and has bugs from time to time, also it is not as great to form a nice organic easing curve with the spline. The „new“ way via fusion sucks because you can‘t actually see the beat markers while working on the keyframes and splines, you can‘t set the exact percentage for slowmo / fps and also it is more tideous to initially set up for each clip.
@@JamieFennTrue, but then you can’t touch the audio anymore without „loosing“ the markers. It’s possible but if clients (as a freelancer, not a content creator) do the classic last minute switcheroo… let’s say it is not efficient.
The intro was the final result of the technique I showed you. I just briefly showed you how to do it on one clip as it's the exactly same process for every clip you use.
I figured this out few months ago, then i wondered why nobody was making tutorials on this way of speed ramping. I almost learned AE for speed ramping then figured this way and left AE again.

Thank you man I appreciate it!
Great Video Jamie, been waiting for this for a long time. Gonna have a fun time now in davinci with new gear and these new tips🔥🙏🏼
My dude!! Thank you so so much. Have fun man. This is honestly the very best way to get those speed ramps we love so much. Cheers!
This one looks good and will take more than one watch to understand fully. 👍🏻
Glad you like it! It's a bit tricky!
Great tutorial 💯
Appreciate it 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Oh useful tips, use music remixer to isolate the drums to make it easier to put in the markers
That's a great idea!
been lookingg for an alternative way to work with the speed ever since switching from premieres velocity flow. This is great thanks!
Glad I could help!
Looks amazing! gonna try it soon..
You'll love it!
Great video! If you create your beat markers on the timeline instead of the clip they will show up in the spline editor and is very helpful!

I'm glad you agree that it's much more flexible. And thank you for the kind words!
Thx for your video, dude. Your tutorial will be really useful to me! 🔥
This is an amazing way to do speed ramps! Retime UI on edit page is a lot more tedious!
I agree, the retime UI is a bit clunky.
je moze komplikovanije, ovo mi deluje dosta jednostavno :)

Any difference if we make the stablized clip fusion instead of compound clip ?

Theres a lot of factors when It comes to being smooth. If you watch the video I linked at the end of this one It should answer all of your questions.
Would it be possible to get some practice footage to follow along with in the next tutorial?
Stock footage is available in the description!
Отличный контент как всегда!!! Только почему ты не показал цветокоррекцию???
Best video out!
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏼

Appreciate your helpful videos! I liked your keyboard. Could you please tell me its name? Is it LOFREE Flow84?
Yup!!
Quality content as always my man!
Appreciate it!
Thank you so much! Will this work with clips shot at 30fps or does it have to be shot in 60fps?
Works on all fps.

It stabilizes the footage.

@ Okay, thanks for the info. Then you always have to build them yourself. But a video showing a few more curves in the Spline Editor would be cool
@@wildone8602 Honestly I showed you the two most commonly used ones. Anything besides that will be personal taste.
What's the point to make markers? You didn't sync them with points on the curve
When you cut the clip to the markers of your choice, anything you do within the spline editor will be to that exact length

I just showed a quick example. Continue doing the same steps for the first clip and match it up to the beat markers until you’re done.
@JamieFenn I thought you were going to show how to combine the speed "spurts" in fusion - spline with these markers
🤘🙏❤️
Marking the beats sounds like a perfect AI task…
