you flew thru installing the jets, and for those of us that are following along, that was a stop and figure it out moment, you also mentioned setting the float height and abra-cadabra! it's its done. that would have been helpful in a video series like this. Thank you for making this video, because it was helpful for the most part, but you skipped a few things.
this is by far the best rebuild video out there.. a month I have been watching videos of this process and the algorithm just now brought it up. thank you.
If the big seals are coming up short by heating them with a low setting heat gun it will make them grow. Or heat the carb bowl / cover some to the temp that makes the seal fit
l ordered a new Carb the seat will not seat the needle , love your video remember all to drain carb at end of season , !! will be the best for any toy USE Premium fuel also
the orginal carb on my bike has 172S main and 45 pilot jet , the needle not sure what number didnt check , now the new carb l ordered will come preset with main jet 170/pilot jet 48 not sure of needle # , should this preset jetting be ok or should l go with the orginal factory jettting thanks
These carb uploads are really going to help me build the fcr from my yz426f i took apart about a year ago haha. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us 🫡
@NW Moto Garage Have a question for you. In the mid body there's 2 small brass pipes. What are they for because i dropped my mid body and one of them snapped off.?
@@tomatoknuckles oh no…. Not good, not good at all. Those help the fuel find it’s way to the top through a vacuum, they are really only air tubes so you might get away with it? I would say you have nothing to loose now so reinstall and see what happens. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART is coming back here to let me know how it goes. But if you need a new carb, I have actually had outstanding luck with the Amazon FCR carbs for only about $150. Tuned and ran just the same as OEM
@NW Moto Garage Thanks for the quick reply man. I was thinking they had something to do with the hot start and choke but makes sense that they deliver fuel. Im going to epoxy it on and give it a try if it doesn't work ill take your advice and get that carb. Thanks again 👍
Maybe I missed it, but what did you use for your "deep clean"? My carb has that same green all over and pretty gummy. Evaporust safe to submerge in...no seals of course. Also, my 4 screws to reattach the float bowl side seem to be too short to grab threads. I even got new OEM screws and same deal. Ideas? Great vids!
@@nwmotogarage He's not joking. Carbs have always felt like a magical creature and you just broke it down bit by bit to the point where I feel like I have a map in my head. Thank you for the great content!
That is a really good warning about the drain plug. I'm constantly taking that thing off to change jets but never though to check it for warping. Definitely doing that next rejetting.
Where did you adjust the float height? My 08 CRF450R owners manual says 6mm but the shop manual says 8mm. Just looking for a source of truth. I will say that 7mm is just about parallel. Split the difference?
I’ve resorted to this. 06 crf250r and rebuilt everything except the mid body and the needle for the main jet. Bike only runs when all the way lean on the fuel setting and choked. It’s not making sense at all so I think this is the issue
Disappointed in my rebuild kit. Did not come with any mid body rubber gaskets and was missing that small brass pilot jet at the beginning of your first video. Do you have a link for the kit you have here?
Not his opinion but mine, but definitely worth it... Still need to blow trough with compressed air but especially to make the carb shiny again it is great
Hey I just found this video, I have the same carb but my vacuum release plate doesn’t seat on the carb slide, the bottom of it won’t seal, it’s causing my throttle to get stuck at 3/4 throttle, would a new seal fix it?
Unfortunately the road race version of the FCR also has problems. But the bigger issue is nobody makes a replacement for the centre body o ring gasket. If you do know where I can get them please leave a comment.
Mannn I stripped the second tiny allen, last thing I needed to get before I could fully rebuild my midbody. Spend hours yesterday trying to get it out and now am to the point where it’s impossible. Can you tell me what the smaller gasket under the loop influences? My bike currently doesn’t wanna idle. I’ve tried every size pilot jet and ultrasonic cleaned. Midbody is my last hope for the carb and I stripped the last bolt I needed😢 hoping replacing the other gaskets I can get at and giving it a clean could be the difference still tho🙏🏻
Unfortunately I can’t tell you exactly what it does for sure, most likely accelerator pump but if any extra fuel or air is leaking through those seals it will effect your idle.
Boy you are so COMMITTED!! I wish TH-cam did what Facebook does with “Top Fans” you would earn that badge for sure! Speaking of, have you seen my Facebook page?
Great video ive got the same carb. My bike won’t idle on its own so I was told to clean carb and jets. I’ve put it back together and now my bike won’t start anyone no?
First thing first is to remove the carb again and double check that all of your work you did is still correct, slide plate is correct, your fuel screw has the o-ring on it. Then Reinstall and make sure the hot start and choke isn’t cracked.
Let’s see the grease and all parts I picked up from RockyMountain ATV MC. Free 3 day shipping is hard to beat. The grease is a Seal Grease by RaceTech and the kits are by All Balls Racing. Thanks! Glad you could use the info!
is there any way to save the seat for the inlet needle jet , or can one purchase the seat for inlet needle for float, looks like its pressed in , l see the seat has a little damage and will not seal so fuel comes out the over flow tube with float adjusted to 8mm ,thanks for any tips or ideas for my issue yamaha YZ 450 F think a 03 or 04 model year
Best bet is to purchase a new needle and hope that fixes it. Those are pressed in and I don’t see a part number for it. You might have to find just the smallest rotary polisher and polish that brass. The tips of those needles are rubber so they are pretty forgiving.
@@michaelcotgrave8487 unfortunately not, the only way is to buy used or new. I have had good luck with Amazon carbs. They tune the same way and function normally for only $170-180
