I’m a student at PSU and I saw the cars backed up here too. The snow’s been fun for me cuz I don’t drive, but my heart goes out to everyone who got stuck in traffic today. I hope you guys get out of there. ❤
It is now 1101 and I 5 is still at a standstill my granddaughter has been stuck in I5 along with 3 busses full of school kids for 6 hours.
Some of the worst drivers in the whole USA. No chains, no traction tires, no experience, either. A lot of them think 4 wheel drive means you can drive as fast as you want, which is true, but you can’t stop very fast, so we call it 4 wheel slide
Portland, sand in your trunk adds weight and can be used on the road if you need some traction material. I've also been known to keep Non-Clumping Clay Cat Litter and some Blue Heat in my trunk. Stay off freeways or any road that has a bridge under or over the road. Feel your pain though - it's Minus 7 here in Denver.
Large Zip ties make snow tires for about 10 miles before ya have to replace the ones that broke.
Appreciate the snow survival advice - if you are from Denver, it’s a good bet you know what you’re talking about👊.
I am born and raised in Portland Oregon and we’ve been dealing with the same mess for a decade. They don’t care about the people I just came back home. I was stuck in it for 4 to 5 hours buses got stuck. People got stuck, but they want your taxes.
The ice and snow want your taxes
Good thing everyone can buy chains.
I thought trimet buses carried drop-down chains. But maybe only under specific conditions 🤷🏼♂️ with the storm/conditions being far under-estimated in the weather forecasts, everybody was prepped at a lesser level. Ive been stranded by buses during snow/ice storms, too. Hope your feet are dry and warm now.
Drop down chains are useless if every other vehicle on the road are slipping and sliding getting stuck 😂
once again portland is woefully un prepared and people are sitting on 26 for 4 or more hours
It usually takes 10 minutes to walk, but today it takes 2 hours to drive home, and some colleagues even need 4 hours or more. This snow is really the biggest in this decade. Many cars skid on the road. Fortunately, some enthusiastic people came out Help, thanks again for the help of those enthusiastic people!
Girl in the lower left at the beginning looks OVER IT. lol
The upper NW just amazes me. 3 snow flakes and they are paralyzed.
Let’s face it you dropped the ball on this one. Even the weather app didn’t call for snow all day. Don’t mess with Mother Nature
Mine said it was going to snow a couple days ago. I prepared for it. Had groceries delivered, made sure everything was charged, got my lanterns out, everything.
My 3 weather apps on my phone showed snow most of the day Monday in the metro area, Portland prepared for a dusting instead of expecting the worst & hoping for the best😂
I remember seeing the news saying a light dusting of snow and then turning to rain.
I’m in Tillamook and it’s snowing so much!
Montreal, Quebec does not shut down as much as Portland, Oregon does.
Portland learn how to drive and equip your cars. There were so many abandoned cars on the road and on ramps. Thank goodness for a good samaritan that helped back down cars an on ramp! So grateful for her or else I'd still be on the road.
Wow, poor Portland having issues with snow who cares you know why because the Portland police department and I think the sheriffs department radio traffics encrypted so every day citizens and news media can’t find out what’s going on with the weather conditions around Portland if people are stuck in it and where to travel where not to travel they have to rely on tweets and Instagram from Portland PD to find out what’s going on now maybe the fire department is not encrypted totally but it would be nice. It would be nice if Portland PD could have their dispatch channel unencrypted to wear ass people, ordinary citizens and the news media to find out what’s going on during disaster as weather situation’s
Snow is starting to fall and stick down south in salem.
Hey, no rioting in Portland tonight. Hahahaha, just takes snow.
Yep...
Man think he can just predict the weather with his electronic tools...
God's like, no, I don't think so.
I'm still in charge, and you are not.
Keep your day job.
There hasn’t been rioting in Portland for years now
2 inches of snow cripples Portland 😂 unbelievable how many people were stranded, it’s been a saying for years expect the worst and hope for the best, in this case PBoT fail
I5 is a stand still going north
Are you commenting from traffic?
Are you safe at your destination??
