You are a true inspiration. I am a 63 year old training for my first triathlon. I will sart with a sprint, but having grown up in Kona, Ironman is in thhe back of my mind. Thanks for the video posts here. They keep me motivated.
This year I did only 4 training rides outside. All my other rides were on zwift. This is my second year on triathlon and I could be o top 10 on a very competitive 70.3 here in Brazil. Indoor training is the way to go
Really love the positive and motivational attitude you guys manage to transfer in your content. Often Iam too lazy to train, get a coffe, sit down and watch one of your videos and then finally manage to get myself to the pool.
It's nice seeing a professional athlete do a cannon ball. I honestly believe you are two of the kindest people. I just wanted to tell you good luck and congratulations. I wish you both all the best...
I totally get that, living in/near a major city, indoor makes the most sense especially for biking!! NYC has 45 pound/20kg public bikes that definitely count as a workout, but as for speed/really pushing, indoor it is!! Love the outtake with Pickle :D
Congratulations on your win. Thank you for sharing the benefits of indoor training. I am just learning this myself and my Christmas present is a new upgraded trainer.
Love all of your videos, Holly does a wonderful job… She needs to update the intro at the end instead of you taking the tape at the 70.3, update it to you taking the tape and Kona as the world champion. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family… Looking forward to seeing what’s next for you. Cheers
This the first video I’ve ever watches of Charles Barclay. It was very fun, and im looking forward to keeping an eye on this channel. I’m going to see a few more videos
More Pickle!!! love the training videos - doing most of my prep for a running race on a treadmill. I am definitely getting stronger and faster. would love a tour of the pain cave!
Great Video again Lucy, thank you! It would be great if you were doing a 'I reached my main goal, how do I stay motivated' video. I think these insides will help a lot of people. It will definitely help me.
I honestly would have thought that it’s the other way around 😂. I find myself having to drag myself to go ride outdoors when indoor cycling is so much more fun and time efficient. On the trainer I can spend the time going fitness while gaming on the console, watching shows, getting work done on a laptop etc. can’t do these outdoors. Plus, the weather is always better indoors too
Very inspiring! Would love to see more of the pain cave, have taken some ideas into my own cave already, love to see what others are doing. I really like indoor training especially in winter UK. Much less hassle, easier to fit into my working day, great way to keep going.
As someone who runs only (5 miles to 1/2 Mar')- many think I'm nuts with most of my training indoors (treadmill/stair-climber) ! It's nice to know that one of the longest races on earth can be won off the back of indoor work !! Fair to say however, your indoor volume requires an extraordinary level of focus and determination. Your mind and body are made of special stuff !!
@@laurenpickens996 A powerful tool in a runners training-toolbox... Hits the CV system HARD (if you go after it) with low impact to tendons/joints... Just don't hold onto the rails like many do !!
Non competitive rider here, but spending the entire 2023 doing almost nothing but riding structured rides indoors and gym work has done wonders for my fitness. Ride just north of 6-7 hrs weekly, and my FTP went up by around a quarter. Plus, it’s way more time efficient and enjoyable than riding outdoors since I can just catch up on all the shows I’m missing or do work on the laptop during the z2 rides. Makes me wonder why more ppl don’t just do indoor training. outdoor rides now is now a chore I see as necessary to check that my bike still works.
TH-cam also becomes world Champion content. Amazing 💪 I also Train a lot indoor, because of two Little Kids, i go on zwift when they went to bed. Thanks for your good words that it will Pay out!!!
Always interesting , I really enjoy watching your videos and getting more inside on your way of training and how things are working out. I for myself prefer Rouvy to Zwift, as the routes are more realistic and it makes for me more enjoyable riding them rather than some virtual landscapes, but that is my personal opinion and feeling. For sure Zwift has a broader audience and thus offers other advantages, but as a triathlete, I am used to training alone and thus can accept the fact that on those virtual training session, I have less people around. Further not training the running on a treadmill (no space and budget to add this to my pain cave) I only need a platform which offers cycling, but I do not need it to offer running as well.
In me when I was my first Ironman here in Philippines 🇵🇭 indoor training was very nice list accident idea for those first timer in Ironman triathlon be waist every training.
Amazing video and congrats on Kona win! Incredible to watch. Do you change your training zones inside vs outside? How do you plan race pace targets if zones differ :)
Oh! Pain Cave Tour. I swear I thought you said Pancake tour. I thought I was under a rock. 😂😂 I’m training for a super sprint triathlon indoors as well. So convenient for my schedule.
Great content, we enjoyed this and following your journey. Your role modeling helps me get through touch indoor sessions. Do you ever find a noticeable difference in wattage/time for indoor steady state riding to outdoor riding?
Hi Lucy, such an inspiration to watch🤩. How do you distribute your time on Zwift riding between race bike and TT bike and the different positions on the bikes? Do you follow a strict plan or guideline, eg. doing all hard work on race bike and the endurance work on TT? Do you have an advice to us age groupers on how to distribute?
Congrats, was an amazing race to watch. With regards to indoors, do you think the treadmill is easier than outdoors and therefore not as beneficial? Do you use a motorized or self driven?
yes, I'm curious too if Lucy has had to cont. all the restrictions that she shared in a video a year or two ago. She had to cut out gluten and eggs, and maybe even dairy! 😭
Yes love the inside watching it while doing a 3 hours block following by hour run. Do 95 % on zwift coming from a rowing background it is very similar then the ergometer. To bad that for Ironman you need to but in thé hours 😂
Thx for the insights. I am wondering if the Blue led light has a reason for the training or just for fun ? Please Show the future for your Training room.
Firstly - Amazing to see you get that Kona win - Amazing to see someone from Essex as the best in the world! Quick question, do you have any recommendations for an at home treadmill that will work with Zwift but not break the bank?
Would love to join you and the crew for group activities on Zwift but I'm struggling to find team charles-barclay club or do we just follow you? Thanks 😊
I started to run not too long ago. I run mostly on the treadmill. Some very "supportive" people always can't forget to mention that treadmill running is easier than outdoors running. What do think about it? Assuming i live in a flat area and the weather is mild.
Do you find treadmill running transfers well to road running then (probs obviously)? Or do you have adjustments (like slight incline I've heard from some coaches)?
I'm looking for the new cube litening c:68 teamline 2023, I fell in love with this bike, but I can't find it anywhere in size 50, please help, where can I get this model, I'm going crazy
For the swimming, Lucy how should training completely in the pool make up for openwater skill and technique? There are not many open water places that I can go.
One thing people must never forget, indoor training can be some of the best training for mental and physical fitness, but does you 0 good if you crash because you have no technical skill. Make sure you get outside occasionally and work on those technical skills. Also, Lucy said it best at the start, know your course as well.

The mental toughness of indoor training is super underrated
I think no one underrates it
What? Underrated for whom??
@@andrecrispim3209 do people Even rate it at all? 🧐
and there’s “underrated” guy…
but wow people are finally realizing how stupid that guy is?
hope for humanity!!!! Lol
very true...try sitting on a bike inside for 4 hours lololol
Just goes to show how good indoor training can be. Even more so for those of us who have to fit training around work and other commitments.
Definitely- for most people it’s a not ideal alternative but LCB uses it to her advantage!
The lvl of perfection holly makes the videos is insane. The soundtracks always on point. She kill it every time 🤯😱
Agreed!

Lucy Charles Barclay. Ironman World Champion!!! . Absolutely brilliant performance Lucy, we watched the whole race willing you on.❤❤❤.
Holly is amazing, i love those workout montages

Love to see that sweet sweet breaking the WC tape moment up on your pain cave walls! Still so stoked for Team CB! PS, keep it up Holly!!
Love to see you both basking in and reflecting on your championship
It’s so good to see a pro rider using indoor training successfully…….interesting content as ever…cheers!
Congratulations on your win. Thank you for sharing the benefits of indoor training. I am just learning this myself and my Christmas present is a new upgraded trainer.
Thanks for some motivation for the coming months of dark early morning indoor workouts! 😀
Go Team Charles!!!, best ever, cheers from Mexico

I just moved to a big city and I don't really feel safe running or cycling nearby, so it's good to know you can make a lot of progress indoors!
Can you give us a tour of the pain cave. Keep up with good work Team Charles Barclay.
this was really inspiring just wow!!

Would love a bts video on Holly's process of producing the channel
Congrats on being World-a-Champion!
yes, please show all the special details of your pain cave !
In Zwift in the pain cave right, such an inspiration to watch these videos. Gives me the push to get ready for IM 70.3 Mallorca
Another fantastic video, well done to the team . Are you doing a film on your goals for next year ???💪

The link to join our Zwift club and find out about group rides is in the description of this video 😊

i genuinely dont think i could spend that much time working out inside, mad respect thats another level of toughness
will you do super league triathlon now? seeing as indoor stuff has given you a massive boost
So inspiring! ❤

What is the stand to put your front wheel in?
Awesome indoor training studio is that your garage converted?
For the swimming, Lucy how should training completely in the pool make up for openwater skill and technique? There are not many open water places that I can go.
If i put the treadmill on a good incline, high enough to notice a decent resistance, will it help with my fitness improving ?? 10k training
Good news: I do Zwift as well
Bad news: I don't do 20h/week
Is your treadmill the self-powered one or the normal one?
Can you talk about how to train indoors? Mostly intervals?
Would you mind sharing your Tredmils brand?
4:06 Hear that, Zwift? She broke ya.
(Time for a software update!)
I thought using the treadmill doesn't exactly translate to running? I find the tready so much easier but running outside still hard.
what wahoo kicker do you have?
What is the bike setup here?
