Love this song so much! Did it ever get to # 1 on the charts? It's a fantastic song with that Bo Didley influence. So immensely talented and both very handsome to boot!
This song hit the charts in October, 1964. I was a DJ back then, on KXLF in Butte, MT. It was a 5KW day and night signal that had listeners all over the Rockies. Playing this song as a DJ was like a shot of energy. I was backstage with the Brothers in '66 and it was a thrill to meet them.
By all accounts, really nice guys, too. One of Graham Nash's fondest memories is talking with the Everlys after their show in Manchester in the late 50s, I think. They were very kind and approachable. Nash still has that ticket in his wallet to this day. He said that show, and talking with Phil and Don, changed his life.
The group was highly influential on the music of the generation that followed it. Many of the top acts of the 1960s were heavily influenced by the close-harmony singing and acoustic guitar playing of the Everly Brothers, including the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Bee Gees, and Simon & Garfunkel. In 2015, Rolling Stone ranked the Everly Brothers No. 1 on its list of the 20 Greatest Duos of All Time.[1] They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class of 1986, and into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001. Don was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2019, earning the organization's first Iconic Riff Award for his distinctive rhythm guitar intro to the Everlys' massive 1957 hit “Wake Up Little Susie”.[2]
I couldn't have been any older than 9 at the time but another memory that comes to my mind when I listen to that song is my grandparents were also living up in butte MT. AL
Just found this post and want to thank you for it and the excellent write up on the lives of the Everly Brothers! I've always loved their recordings and it's just good to know they were able to get together after all the troubles, thanks again!
Info on Everly Brothers releases was so poor in the UK in the Mid/late 60's, I only found out about the LP when a radio DJ said 'from the album of the same name'.

I am 73 years old and I have loved these two guys since I was 7 years old. RIP Phil and Don. I still love you.
My mother's 74, and she still owns the original 45
Don Everly was one of the greatest rhythm guitarists in rock 'n' roll. His right hand is a friggin' metronome!
Check his rhythm on CLAUDETTE. Funky as hell.

Reminds me a little of Gene Pitney. He was darn cute too and could he sing!
Their never gone. Phil&Don will always be in my heart.
The great Everly Brothers. Now this is rock and roll
There'll never be another duo like them!
Wonderful Everlys, a mighty stomper
One of my favorite Everyly Brothers tunes!

The bryants wrote their songs not many by them
Thanks for this post man. 👍👍👍
estos chiquillos son geniales con respecto a los acordes , que lastima no haber vivido esa época
Immer wieder immer wieder Everly
They are both cute. I thought they were twins. Loved their music but didn't know anything about their personal lives.
Don Everly's daughter Erin Everly married Axl Rose
Fab track
I`m in love with Phil...
That is my man
GREAT

It was even worse in the 70s but Uk was still one of the best countries to find EB records I can tell you !
Very, very true 👍🇬🇧👍
@@MeFloody Holland was there too ! unfortunately the worse countries were France (where I live) , Spain and Italy...
This song breaks out like Secretariat !
Era muito legal essa dupla harmônica antológica fantástico
Yes
Incredible energy. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss did a nice job with it, but this is pure dynamite.
They look like twin but are two years apart with Don being the oldest.
I pray for Don Everly soul
Don is Gone 7/22/2021
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss brought me here
Don and Phil were to America what Chad and Jeremy and Peter and Gordon were to Britain
The Beatles say they were influenced by the Everly's . It appears that the Everly's were influenced some by the Beatles too!
Would’ve loved to hear John & Paul cover this gem!!!
@@paulreese3071 the Beatles actually had covered one of the everly's unreleased songs (until 1984) on one of their early records; called *_chains_*
Is it me or do they really look like their third brother is Joe Pesci?
I think its you.
Definitely not just you!
Phil looks like Joe Pesci
Yikes Stripes!
