This was an EXCELLENT presentation. The speaker spoke well, left out unnecessary rambling, no stupid jokes to endure. He gave every detail. I wish I were in Cleveland to buy the washer today
I’ve owned this washer and dryer set for about a year 1/2. I have a family of five and we wash a full load daily. This set is absolutely amazing. It’s simple and washes clothes to pristine cleanliness. Forget the bells and whistles of other products that look good but are inefficient.
Bought this washer 5 years ago based on this video. It has performed well! Only gripe is this thing rocks all over the place if I wash more than 2-3 towels on any of the more aggressive wash cycles.
We bought this washer a few months ago. We Can’t Believe the difference in our clean clothes. You commented about the spin and extra to send we have an extra rinse on ours plus we are so impressed with the spin. Maybe 10 minutes in the dryer and the clothes are dry. We threw in a queen size comforter and it handles it no problem with lots of room left. We also have never had it lose balance. What a great machine. We couldn’t be happier. Friends of mine bought the lg. she is extremely disappointed she didn’t buy the Maytag. Plus plus plus a great washer. I could go on and on. Thanks
Roxy 9001a ... Thanks for the great comments !!! May I see know where you bought you Maytag mvwp575gw washer ? Was a store like Lowe's or Home Depot or was it from Loraine Appliance ?
We purchased this washer dryer set 2 weeks ago. We are extremely happy with both the washer and dryer. The washer has a deep tub that handles pkenty of clothes. Both units are very easy to use. The dryer has a light and an easy to remove and replace lint filter. We haven't bought any new washer or dryer since the late 90s. We hit the jackpot with these appliances. Good job Maytag!
I bought this washer because of you. It was just installed and I'm going to do my first load of laundry. So excited!! Thank you so much for your reviews!
Lorain Furniture ... Thank you, I will! I truly appreciate you. I have washed 5 bulky loads, 2 being my work uniforms (4 piece, 5.11 dispatcher uniforms), everything came out great and in a short time! It was well worth me having this pair shipped to Southern California!
I had my set delivered and installed today. I am in love!!!! I am washing load number 3 and I am just amazed how well and how fast this washer washes. There are only 3 things I do not like: it doesn't fill with the lid up, Normal cycle water is lukewarm when choosing hot, and there is no water level selection. My tub is different than the one in your video. My clothes are clean and smell great. I am so accustomed to my old LG toploader taking almost 2 hours to wash a load. This washer finishes a load in about 45 minutes or so with the Extra Rinse option selected. I love it. And the dryer is great too. It's a little smaller than my LG dryer but it dries great. As far as the extraction of the clothes in the washer, Maytag must have upped the spin speed I think. After washing a load of darks that included 2 huge bath towels, I spun the clothes in my clothes spinner that spins 3200 rpms, and not that much water came out. I am very impressed and very happy. Will not be trading this set in.
I bought this washer a couple weeks ago, in large part due to this review and your Speed Queen vs. Maytag review video. I love it! So much better than my terrible old FP washer that couldn't take a load of towels without getting out of balance. Thanks!
@@mjdub Thanks for the fast response !!! So glad to know that you are happy with the Maytag vwmp575wg washer !!! May I please know where you found the washer or which store sold you the washer ?
Based on your reviews we purchased the Maytag Commercial washer and dryer to replace our still "working" LG HE pair. The difference is remarkable. No more 1 -2 hour wash times and constant UE (Uneven Load) error codes. No more clothes coming out of the washer with some areas still dry. The Maytag Commercial thoroughly cleans clothes with a run time under 40 minutes! I was worried that the slower spin speed would be an issue, but the clothes come out just damp. The dryer is also excellent. Thank you so much for helping us with this purchase. By the way, we bought them from ABC Warehouse (appliance chain in Michigan and northern Ohio) for $899 each and 5 year full parts & labor warranty.
I bought the washer/dryer pair and they just arrived today. Already, I've run three loads. Based on the limited use, I'm very happy! I ran the first load (of kitchen towels) on NORMAL with the extra RINSE option. It actually gave me a deep water wash and two deep water rinses. I ran it on WARM; however it wasn't very warm. The next load was cotton bed sheets. I washed them on HOT and I selected the BULKY cycle. As far as I could tell, it filled completely with HOT water, rather than a mix. That cycle time was about 37 minutes (including fills). I added fabric softener to the dispenser and it worked as it should. The last load I ran was a load of whites on NORMAL with no options. This time, NORMAL with no options gave me a half tub with the spray rinse. I also added bleach to the wash and they came out very clean. I added fabric softener to the dispenser too. I was surprised to find that the softener got saturated through the load. The cycle lasted about 28 minutes (including fills). Just for grins, I ran the whites through RINSE & SPIN. It filled completely. The washer is fast, thorough, and quiet. The dryer works flawlessly too! With only three loads under my belt, I am very HAPPY. I would post my own video review, but I can't match Eugene's star power! LOL!
@@cherylq7183 Maytag hasn't existed on it's own or had an independent engineering office since 2006 when Whirlpool Corporation bought the company. They closed Maytag's offices and factory in Newton, Iowa. The original company doesn't exist, this machine was designed by Whirlpool in Benton Harbor, MI and built at their factory in Clyde, Ohio.
Found this video from Wirecutter, have never heard of Speed Queen until I read that. Sounds like it used to be great. They really messed up with their response to you, speaks volumes about the company I guess. Thanks for the reviews, this looks like a good one. 👍
I know you like this washer but it is by far the loudest washing machine I have ever heard in my life and it's going back for that reason. I can here this machine all over the house, and I have a large house. Put this on the delicate cycle and it makes noise like something you never expected to hear out of a washing machine. Especially after paying over $800 for it. I also had to spend 40 bucks on anti hammering valves because when this is filling up, it is constantly changing from hot to cold. When it does that, it creates an enormous amount of pressure in the line and the pipes rattle throughout my house. Good washer if you have a separate building to put it in.
I recently purchased the Maytag 575 and matching dryer. I am really happy with them. I have no problem with the spin speed, and my genes and towels have no excess water. They dried in 45 minutes on "Hot".
I take it back. For a really big load, I had to put the "Drain and Spin" cycle on for about 5 minutes to get the remaining water out, before throwing the clothes into the dryer.
I have a 30 year old Maytag Model LA412 that was made before the government got involved and it has been a great machine and while it still works sometimes it doesn't agitate so I have to fiddle with it. I have been looking at new machines but have noticed quite a few complaints about how little water they use and don't always get the clothes clean. I came across this video and am really impressed with this machine even though it has less capacity than I had wanted. I do like the fact that it fills up with water. I am seriously considering buying this machine on the recommendation of this video but seeing as I live in Texas I won't be able to buy it at Lorain Furniture and Appliance but our Lowe's store has it available. Thanks for a great video.
@@LorainFurnitureandAppliance I have replaced the belts and I have replaced the glide kit for the motor but every once and awhile when I go to use it it will fill up with water and when its time to agitate nothing happens but the motor is running because it starts squealing and burning the belt. If I set it to spin before I put in any clothes that usually helps but not always. I just wish I knew what was causing it not to agitate right away and if it wasn't cost prohibitive I would fix it. I originally bought that machine because I was so impressed with the transmission. They had a cut away transmission at the dealer and the simplicity of it sold me. I have certainly got my moneys worth out of it but like I say I don't know how to fix it and am not sure there is still anybody out there that worked on these old machines.
Thanks for the great video :) I really miss my old Maytag, but it appears you can't get anything quite like the old ones; this comes pretty close. If anyone is worried about the "rough" washing re delicates, like, say a silk shirt, you can put them in a mesh laundry bag. I read reviews on the Speed Queen and no one likes the new one, and it's really hard to find an older one. I thought what Speed Queen did to you was really crappy; I'm glad that video is still up! It definitely took Speed Queen out of the running
Pretty impressive. You can always just use the rinse and spin option if you want a second rinse, and people who have machines like this tend to be pretty hands on about laundry anyway, so this shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Nice video!
I was torn between the Maytag and the Speed Queen. Based on your reviews, I went with the Speed Queen. I like the faster agitation of the Speed Queen and believe the SQ will be a little gentler on clothes. Thanks for all your hard work posting your videos.
@Mike Bingham When Speed Queen blacklisted this YT channel for giving an honest review on their 2018 model my respect for Speed Queen went down the drain.
Just got this washer. Clothes come out much cleaner .Wash load done in 30 minutes!! I've died and gone to heaven!! My other washer didnt last and took 3 times as long to finish a load. Can't be happier and plan to keep it until it breaks down and then buy the parts to fix it.😁😁😁
I have this machine and LOVE IT! I wash our queen comforter in it with no problems!! Love the simple controls. My only gripe is that it needs a water level function.
I have to agree with you about the extraction. I washed a large load of bright colors with two large bath towels. It took 55 minutes to dry the load on the More Dry setting. I will time the drying time after spin-drying the load to see if it makes a big difference.
Just got my new Maytag Commercial washer broke it on the first wash. i got a 2nd and it was broke from the start. i got a third but it was a speed queen classic works great
FYI people, do NOT buy this machine from Lowe's (Model #MVWP576KW) which only has a ONE YEAR warranty, not the 5 offered by Maytag. Yet it looks exactly the same….. Shop carefully.
Exhibit A and B Contrary to your comment @7:38 sec. At 0:20 sec.... IT does HAVE an EXTRA RINSE option. Not only that, it has a soak option. If you forget, you can just set it to rinse and spin when it's done.
The inside of this unit reminds me of GE Profile top load washer I've had since 2006. It's also 3.5 cuft, but has digital controls and allows you to manually set the water level (5 settings).
I've had this washer for 4 years now, and it is making a loud clicking buzzing sound before rhe motor starts to rotate the tub. Repair tech came last week and replaced the pulley and belt, but 3 days later it was still doing it. They came out today, but it doesn't do the sound when they are here. They are going to replace the motor last week. Please see the videos of it on my YT channel if you might know what rhe peoblem is. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. My old old Kenmore broke and I was at the appliance store trying to decide on a washer. I had initially thought I would buy a speed queen but I saw so many bad reviews of the 2018 speed queens - this video helped me make my decision .. my new Maytag will be here on Friday :-)
I have a 37 year old Maytag which seems like this new one. It has two water levels & two wash options. It has never had a service call & has the original belt. I almost bought a new one but the nice sales lady at Loews said, “don’t do it. The old Maytags were the best”. John Toronto Canada
I have this exact washer but mine has the extra rinse and presoak options. They must have added that to the newer version. I purchased it with the matching dryer and have had it for a month now. I'm hoping it will last a long time. The set was a little over $2,000. One thing I noticed was that it makes some humming and whirring noises that my previous washer didn't make.
I have this machine and LOVE IT!! It's one of the quietest washers I've ever owned. I had a centiennal washer before this one and that one was LOUD and if you had an off-balanced load it sounded like a bar room brawl!! If your in the market I highly suggest this unit.
Don Mckinney can you tell me if this washer when it's filing up for wash or rinse does it pause then fill pause then fill ... till the tub is completely full? I picked up a less expensive Maytag model takes forever to fill and is constantly pausing
No echoe-this machine doesn't do that and it washes loads faster than my old centennial. I know what your referring to about the pausing ! My old unit would do that but Maytag went back to their roots and got it right on this machine. I highly recommend it if your in the market for a new washer. You won't be sorry!
Does it continue to fill when the lid is raised? On my old Speed Queen, the fill would stop with the lid raised. That was always frustrating because I like to use liquid fabric softener. When the fill stops, it's hard to capture water to top off the fabric softener dispenser.
Don Mckinney any issues with locking ? I stupidly bought the non-commercial 4.2 Maytag I've been having issues with the locking mechanism since I purchased it . On the final spin it locks and stays locked along with the done button three or four times trying to lift the lid eventually unlocks . Early this morning he forgot he left a load of laundry in the washer from last night all of a sudden he heard a click when he was in the kitchen looked over and the washer had locked itself it had not been in use for about 7 to 8 hours . There have been other times to that if the laundry was forgotten about it locks itself back up . Other issues I've noticed is it's just not cleaning the clothes if I don't rinse it a second time they just don't smell or look clean at all
JM Being that u have a baby in cloth diapers, do u use hot water setting? Have u checked to see how hot water gets? I have read it gets lukewarm only. Does it even get warm???
I waited in the Chat line on the Maytag website for over an hour. I was wanting to find out if this machine has the option to run a warm rinse. They said it does, which pleased me very much! Just thought I'd pass that along in case anyone else out there likes to use a warm rinse.
Thank you so much for this review and your Speed Queen reviews as well. My repairman recommended that I purchase a Speed Queen. I was about to make that mistake, but thankfully I saw your reviews first. I appreciate you filming this machine washing various types of clothing, and even the comforter. Each video has been incredibly helpful! Half of my washes are delicate/hand wash cycles. It would be helpful if you would also film a delicate wash cycle, and perhaps review the fabric softener dispenser function as well. My reservations in purchasing this washer are: 1) Not knowing how it does on a delicate cycle, 2) Not knowing how well the fabric softener dispenser works, 3) Not having an option for less water with a delicate cycle, since many delicate loads (of mine at least) are just 1-2 items of clothing. But in spite of these unknowns, it does seem like it's the ONLY washer out there that actually washes clothes.
I have been watching your videos for a long time and wanted to get this maytag 575 u reviewed. But havent been able to locate it anywhere! Lowes has the newer 576 model. Can u do a review on that one asap. I too wanted to see the 575 in the delicate cycle. When u do the reviews, can u please tell us if there is a way to keep lid open so we can see the different agitation on different cycles at home? My last top loader, GE profile, had a magnet which was easy to remove for this purpose. Also, i believe in one of the videos for the 575 u said that u really could not get hot water. Cant u just set water temp by the faucet that connects to hose?
Do you think the complaints I read about wet clothes are actually just normal operation for this unit? Personally I don't care if they dry a little longer. I'm asking to clarify for others that saw that as the only common theme in complaints.
nice job on your reviews. have totally changed my direction on type of machines. great summary on the sq machines. searching out your reviews on youtube on other machines. thank for your honesty and time to put these together. wish your store was in my state.
Seems to be a nice machine. I am considering this or the front load LG that you reviewed sorry I forgot the model number but I recall it has like spray jets on it. Does this clean as well as the LG that I am talking about in your opinion. Prefer to purchase USA made appliances when possible and this now looks like this good be the one for me being I am not sold on the 2018 SQ washers now.
I want this but the lid lock might be a deal breaker. Not even that it locks during spin (fine) but that the washer will not run all with the lid open. It won't fill, wash, rinse or anything. I always like to check my soap situation and I like to make sure I have enough water for the clothes. Especially since this is new and I would not be used to water level like I am on mine. I find this very bad.
After 2 years of use, I started to notice the Deep Fill is about 2" less water than it use to be. Also, this week when the water drain pump is activated, it is making a very LOUD sound, but still drains. Since it's still under warranty, I have a tech coming out in 2 weeks
@@LorainFurnitureandAppliance The repair man came out on Tuesday and since they washer and dryer are in a small downstairs bathroom (townhouse) he had a real had time getting to the bump motor. When he took off the pipes, there was two rusting safety pins that were caught in the pump's blades. So he removed them, put it back together and it drained without the loud sound that started 2 weeks ago. He had a replacement pump motor with him, but I guess if it's not really damaged or not working, they won't replace it, since it was two pins caught in there.
@@LorainFurnitureandAppliance Also, when asking about the water level, he checked Normal where it fills half, and the other Deep Water where I said it looked about 1-2" less than it was new. He said there's a weight sensor, and even though you have it on deep water, it will adjust by the weight. (I think that isn't true). But I told him washing towels, you can see I needs a bit more water.
My Speed queen did that too...all of a sudden, half tub fill. I've been adding water for years. Then the water level knob, that allowed you to add water fell off, broke off, not just the knob, the metal broke, so I had to use a hose to add water. Then the gentle cycle stopped doing anything, then the soak cycle, then the transmission stop agitating correctly, especially with heavy items, now the rinse cycle takes about 15 minutes to fill and the rinse lasts about a minute. I have to turn it to wash to get the clothes rinsed. The washer is a 2016 and it hasn't worked like it should for at least 4 years. I'm looking for something better👍
@@fauguy23 No it isn't true. The deciding factor for water level is Full on The Mixed, Delicate, Powerwash, and Bulky cycles, and 1/2 tub for Normal. The new MVWP585 Model does sense but only on normal. The machine Fills about a half inch to an inch from the very top of the basket on the Powerwash, Delicate, and Mixed cycles and fills all the way full on Bulky/Towels. If it doesn't fill all the way up on Bulky/Towels then the pressure sensor has either come out of adjustment or it is broken. It shouldn't be broken that new because if it was the machine would overfill and flood
I bought a GE extra capacity washer at the local big box store and from day one it never worked right. I called warranty service after two years of frustration. They tell me to call a local repairman since the small town I live in doesn't have a service tech available. The 'repairman' I call comes out and says "yea, you do have a problem, I'll order parts and we'll have this fixed in a week." Fast forward six months and many calls later and still no second service call to repair my machine. I ended up ordering and installing the parts myself and even tho I took the hit for the cost of the parts the machine works perfectly now and I love how clean it gets my laundry. That's the only reason I kept the machine was because you can't beat a good top loader that gets laundry clean.
I don't worry about drying speed as I tend to dry my clothes outdoors on a line anyways if the weather is good...which could be why I've went through two washers in the last 20+ years as opposed to one dryer, lol.
Just wanted to let everyone know there is a 575 model sold at independent stores and a 576 model sold only at Lowe's. Prices are similar, and the unit is identical (according to a call to Maytag), but the 575 has the 5 year parts and labor warranty with hoses included. The 576 is just a 1 year warranty (so would have to buy the extended Lowe's warranty) and does not comes with hoses. So for me, I'd rather go with the 575.
FAUguy23 I’m so torn, I want the 575 from ABC Warehouse but it could take weeks to ship. I need the washer ASAP as our front loader has mold issues and Lowe’s can have it here this week.
@@tiffanyguldi7564 Any other local shops that sell the 575? I went with it because the washer and dryer was 800 instead of 850 at Lowe's, and didn't have to spend another $250 for warranty.
Just had this wash and dry delivered. On the third wash I left the lid open so it could soak longer than the presoak cycle provides. The cycle apparently kept going and the machine drained the water. I closed the lid during that cycle and the machine did not go into spin just kept making a draining sound. Not sure I should do another load. Another issue is the extreme vibration in the spin cycle. Also, the dryer tub turns but no heat. The washer is taller than the dryer by a half inch. I have both units level and on solid level floor, the legs on the washer are on the lowest setting, the dryer is on a higher leg setting. Maybe I should return these units.
That's very kind of you to reply. Appreciate it. I did another load on hot water, it gave warm water. The spin cycle went into tub banging mode. Something is broken or missing in the tub attachment. I wanted as simple a washer as possible. Not sure I want to have this fixed. I agree, both units should have been tested before the guys left. Thanks again.
Remember "The Lonely Maytag Repairman." It's no joke. Maytag makes great washers. I had one repaired to replace another I would not have bought (it lasted about 2 years). I got an old Maytag repaired to replace it. The repairman told me he loved the older top-loaders. The front loaders have to fight gravity too much and break down. He said I had one of the last ones made with all metal inside. I do a lot of laundry and I've been using it for 10 years. K.I.S.S.
Thanks for the video. Is this still your go-to machine for a no frills top-load washer? And when you mentioned that it won't clean a queen-sized comforter, is there a washer that you can recommend that can? Preferably a king-sized or am I out of luck? Thanks for the content. I appreciate your honesty in the videos.
I like this machine but there are not load levels. just regular and deep. Also, I would like to get rid of the lid lock so it can fill when its open, any ideas on how to disable it or override it?
Can you please explain what the difference is between this model and the Maytag commercial mvwp576kw, besides the fact that the 576kw is 4 cubic feet whereas the other is 3.5? Any difference in performance at all? Thanks!
Eugene, I love your reviews! Thank you! One question my husband is making me ask is “Can you wash small entrance rugs, or bath rugs in this washer?” I can’t buy a new washer until I have this answered and I HATE my washer. It’s a Maytag that is one you absolutely do not recommend. Yes I bought it for the name and the history Maytag has. Never again! Thank you again! Shelli
You should never wash any rubber backed rugs in any washer, the rubber bits detach and clog the washer. That said, you can wash any reaonably flexible rug in this washer, I would use the delicate or bulky cycle.
My 2011 Samsung front loader lasted 7 years before first problem (Drain pump)! Time to get rid of them, I'm sure its first of many more problems to come.
How does this washer compare with the older Speed Queen's top loaders? Are there any other model top loaders that would be comparable to the older Speed Queen's?
thank you so much for your reviews. I have had the worst luck with front loaders over the past 15 years, constantly repairing them, and staining my cloths, I never want another one! I am switching back to top loaders with an agitator. Bought a GE 3 weeks ago but it spits out the fabric softener all over and stains my cloths, then after its done spinning it drips fabric softener down the agitator and into the bottom of the tub. I have tried using less and less FS, but it does the same, so its going back to Lowes in 2 days. I went to another store to purchase a speed queen but he highly recommended this maytag instead. AFter watching your 2018 vs 2017 speed queen and this video I am sold on the maytag. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video and save us the frustration of buying a poor quality machine that needs repair every 6 months.
i am on my second ge top load with agitaor your problem is a lot better than what happens in a couple months trust me ha ha I am on my second one in 2 years after fighting with them over and over and threatening to go to attorney general it does great water level and great wash but is not reliable it breaks constantly bells rings constantly cant turn them off rings while washing etc which it shouldn't do be so happy you returned it!!!!!! I have no idea what I am going to buy next but I am sick of buying washers that dont work! or dont clean and now speed queen is off the list too. Unfortunately my 2 sisters got the 2017 model and love them I am to late ha ha
mo I am waiting for mine to break again I still have warranty and going to use them for all I can. The maytag looks pretty good but I do not like it does not have levels to adjust big turn off for me. I keep hoping speed queen changes their washer for 2019 fingers crossed. If nto I don't know what I am going to do grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
Well, I decided to see if others have the same issues we face. We have a family of 8 and chose this washer for our needs. We average just under 3 loads a day. We should have the repair manual out about once a month. This time he said the transmission is bad. We have the cheap plastic parts frequently strip and the tub doesn't spin. This time the clothes are coming out extremely dirty and I watched the agitator not work. We are thankful for the 5 year warranty and should be using it more frequently. I doubt anyone could start a business selling a machine that has been so unreliable. I wonder how many other thumbs down are due to similar experiences.
We have an older washer, It has this old style whirlpool Heavy duty sorta look, Works really well, about 30 years old from what I know, One complaint i have is the fact that the agitator needs to be replace, but apart form that its a really good mechanic, also what I mean by replace I mean the 4 rubber things that turn the agitator. Also my washer takes 10 minutes to finish a normal load, and 14 minutes for the heavy duty option,
Can you set the dial to 'drain and spin' at the end of a normal cycle to spin the clothes again? It might be helpful in cases of heavier clothes that require a second spin to help them dry. Thanks
You can but I'm not sure if this is an issue with my new machine but it turns the water on for a brief moment when you select that cycle, So trying to wring the clothes out more, it adds water first, pretty stupid. Other than that I really like this washer, it washes just like my old maytag which lasted me 18 years. Not bad.
Just got the Whirlpool non vended commercial version of this. So far so good. These commercial machines have the best wash action of all the vmw machines. Why couldn't Whirlpool have made them all like that ?
The lack of adjustable water levels would be the no go for me. I rarely wash extra large loads so I would have to fill the tub to the top on a medium or small size load. Using the normal cycle, it fills half way but does not give a deep rinse only spray rinses. I like to add softener so that’s also a no go.Other than those negatives for me it does have excellent washing ability and looks well built. There is a market for this, I’m sure you will sell plenty of these. Good luck and happy delivery’s.
How do you know the normal cycle is only a spray rinse? Was it mentioned in the video and I missed it? I agree, it ducks there are t more water level options. That’s the most important feature for me. If you could choose the level I would definitely buy this.
Hi. I’m wondering which LG washer you are referring to in several of your videos, that you rate so well? And which direct drive washer are you referring to as well? I’m really appreciating all your videos as seeing washers in action is what you can’t see in a store!!! And what a difference seeing that makes!!! Can’t believe how pathetic these HE washers are, just barely wetting the few clothes in a “load” and they just SIT there, with just the drum spinning on some models!! There must be a lot of people walking around in dirty clothes these days! 🙁🙄 I live far from you in Montreal Canada, so I can’t buy a machine from you, but thanks so much for all your videos! They are really helping me to decide which machines I don’t want, and hopefully deciding on the one I will actually buy! (Do you do tests on dishwashers and fridges as well? I need those too!)
Hey where did you buy this model bc there are two different models of the same identical set. But this one has a 5 yr warranty and the other one does not.
Now that's a washer that washes clothes!!! the only thing that gets me is that why would people want a bigger tub then this??? People don't you understand that a bigger tub is not always good??? it only means that you would be allowed to fill it with more clothes and water which in turn has to put more strain on the motor causing it to break down or burn out all the more faster!!! When I was buying my washer, the salesman showed me a machine that would fit 14 pairs of jeans in one load and I told him yeah maybe dry but what happens when they all get wet? isn't that going to be kind of a strain on the motor??? and his reply was simply "Well" so I rest my case...
Robert Przybylowicz Agreed 100% Robert. This washer has fine capacity. Whirlpool showed that they hadn't completely forgotten how to build a decent washer with great wash action . It looks like Whirlpool is marketing these through independent dealers like speed queen does. Other places this is a special order.
I, guess more to load up to wash and more kg means more duvet size to put. I, think 🤔 that one of their reason & another more load to put more clothes to be washed easier etc. There Pros/Cons to everything.
I bought this washer and it only lasted 6 months before the repairman was needed. After 6 return visits and having to go to the laundromat for two months, we finally convinced Maytag to replace it. So we're starting over with a new one. We're still out hundreds of dollars for laundromat expenses. Fingers crossed!
@Michele T Started off with a strange squeaking noise during high speed spin that went on for about 10 wash cycles. Like a bearing was starting to go out but it was intermittent. Then, the washer just stopped working completely. Left us with a load of soaking wet clothes. First thing he changed was a capacitor. But the one he put in was not for a "commercial" washer and was too small to handle it so it failed. Then he ordred the correct one and it then it still wouldn't work at all. At least with the weaker capacitor it ran for a load. After the weak capacitor failed, it was a search for the real problem. He changed the wiring harness twice, why, I still don't know. Changed the control board and still wouldn't run. These things aren't that complicated of a machine so the last thing was to change the motor and that's when I pulled the plug. After that and six visits, I just demanded a new machine. So far so good but time will tell. I hope you have better luck than we did. Like you, when it works, it's an amazing washer! Funny, how we call something amazing that works like they did in the 60s-80's! Good luck!
Are u sure that the model was the maytag mvwp575gw or the newer version of their commercial washer? Asking because I havent been able to find this 575gw model for a long time now! If it is that model, where were u able to purchase it?
Hey I just wanted to let you know, I watched this review and based on it, I bought this washer and the matching dryer. That was almost a year ago. I love this washer. It does an incredible job, and I love its simplicity. There haven't been any problems. I was at my parents' house a few weeks ago and my mom just got the latest Samsung. You had to choose the fabric type and the water level and the cycle. It was ridiculously over complicated. I bet mine outlasts hers by double, at least.
If you select "hot" and any of the deep fill cycles, will it fill the entire tub to the brim with tap hot water (140 degrees In my case), or will it regulate it to a lower temp?
I intended to buy a new SQ based on a previous ownership experience, but after reading the reviews on the 2018 model I passed. I then tried to find a 2017 model and was not successful. I ended up buying this model instead. I'm still waiting for it to arrive. A couple of questions: Does it fill all the way? I had a GE model that advertised a large capacity but much of it was unusable because it didn't fill completely. My second question is about the motor. Is it manufactured in the United States? Who builds the motor? Really enjoy your videos!
I ordered the washer/dryer pair from an online retailer and it turned out to be a comedy of errors. The customer service was poor! So I canceled the order yesterday and called a local independent dealer. They had the pair in stock so I purchased from them. I paid a little more, but it was worth it it. They delivered the next day (which is today) at no additional charge, moved the old GEs into the garage, set up the new Maytags, leveled both units and stayed to ensure that they went through their paces as they should. The service is well worth the slight additional cost. You get what you pay for. I really appreciate the service the small local independent provided!
Just bought the Maytag MVWP575GW because of this video. Couple nobs, hit the start button, go...as it should be. Only thing, I hate that I can't watch my clothes as the agitation stops when you open the lid. Since this is a new washer, I want to see how well I loaded it, turnover and suds. Guess I could monkey with the latch thing but we'll see i guess. Other than that, it is exactly what I wanted.
I would love to see how the digital panel Maytag commercial washer does with agitating the clothes. It looks different in the tub and the agitator. Have you tried that one?
@@Indydi Uh, there were plenty of king sized beds back in the seventies. I lived through that era. Maybe you're believing what people write on facebook.
Thank you for this and all of your other review videos. They really helped us in the process of selecting a new washing machine. We ended up choosing this one. Question though-how were you able to get the machine to run with the top open? We like to load while the water is running and rinse out our detergent cap under the running water. We tried using a magnet, but that didn’t work. Any tips would be appreciated!!
There is a lid lock at the bottom right of the tub, plus there is a piece at the top of the lid which locks it down during spin. You have to remove that piece at the top of the lid, there is only 2 screws, unscrew them and put it in the lid lock and bam! Now you can open the lid at any point in the cycle and it won't stop. Even during the fill cycles.
This was an EXCELLENT presentation. The speaker spoke well, left out unnecessary rambling, no stupid jokes to endure. He gave every detail. I wish I were in Cleveland to buy the washer today
I have had this set for 4 years now. No issues what so ever, just clean and fresh clothes.
I’ve owned this washer and dryer set for about a year 1/2. I have a family of five and we wash a full load daily. This set is absolutely amazing. It’s simple and washes clothes to pristine cleanliness. Forget the bells and whistles of other products that look good but are inefficient.
I have this washer also and I love it! It washes so well!
Honestly it's also nice that's made in Ohio. (Washer at least)
My old 37 year old Whirlpool still does a good wash job.
@The Dime May I please know, do you still like the Maytag washer and may I please know where you bought it ?
hi! I need to buy a new washer for our family and am looking at this one. how loud is it?
Bought this washer 5 years ago based on this video. It has performed well! Only gripe is this thing rocks all over the place if I wash more than 2-3 towels on any of the more aggressive wash cycles.
I washed my king size comforter in my MVWP575GW. Still works fine.
Livin on the edge, lol.
If you fold it like an accordion, you might have more room.
Really? That's the main hesitation for me. We have three king sized beds in our house!
We bought this washer a few months ago. We
Can’t
Believe the difference in our clean clothes.
7:37 No Extra Rinse option? The knob on the far right shows it has Extra Rinse at 0:08.
What is the model # of the dryer? Going shopping tomorrow!
So you have had this Maytag washer for several months now do you still like it? Does it still do a good job for you? Thanks
@@022851 Don't buy!!! Read my story.
Laci Greystone I got all the shirts out of my drawer to REwash them!! My 5.11s get dry cleaned.
@@Ohp880 I hope your shirts are getting clean like mine! I'm still going strong after these 3 years. I love my washer and dryer!
Thanks!
Hi Michael Winton !!!
May I please ask if you still like your Maytag MVWP575GW washer ?
@@brendame yes I do! So happy with it
@@mjdub Thanks for the fast response !!!
I called you and you told me about this machine . I had never heard of it.
I love it. It's so normal!
Thanks for your advice!
Hi Mary Johnson !!! May I please know, do you still like your washer ?
LOL!
Which model dryer did you buy? Gas or Electric?
Hi Bill Ivans !!! May I please know if you still like your Maytag MVWP575GW?
Kudos to Whirlpool ! You guys did well with this ! Wash action simply doesn't get any better.....new respect for the VMW platform.
Bravo, Whirlpool! I'm certainly impressed. This is definitely better than the new SQ. Thanks for the honest review, Eugene.
This is Maytag not whirlpool
@@cherylq7183 Maytag hasn't existed on it's own or had an independent engineering office since 2006 when Whirlpool Corporation bought the company. They closed Maytag's offices and factory in Newton, Iowa. The original company doesn't exist, this machine was designed by Whirlpool in Benton Harbor, MI and built at their factory in Clyde, Ohio.
@@cherylq7183don't spout ignorance. Maytag has been owned by whirlpool since 2006
Found this video from Wirecutter, have never heard of Speed Queen until I read that.
I love this washer. Very durable with an old school flavor and efficiency. Thumbs up for Maytag 👍👍👍
Great video , explanation of features and close ups Eugene !!
Lee Mullen you should really consider fixing what you have
@@LorainFurnitureandAppliance I have replaced the belts and I have replaced the glide kit for the motor but every once and awhile when I go to use it it will fill up with water and when its time to agitate nothing happens but the motor is running because it starts squealing and burning the belt.
Great review!! The washer has the best washing action I have seen in awhile. I like the commercial look.
What did they do to him
The new model TC5000 is a revision of the old model and reintroduces all that was good with Speed Queen.
You made the right decision. Speed Queen is the KING of Washers in AMERICA!!! Period!!!!
Does your spread have padding or is it flat? I have one with padding that I can't wash. Thanks
@@taramiller3236 It's kinda puffy. It's a tight fit, but the machine does a good job of agitating it.

I have to agree with you about the extraction. I washed a large load of bright colors with two large bath towels. It took 55 minutes to dry the load on the More Dry setting. I will time the drying time after spin-drying the load to see if it makes a big difference.

@@Thedonsmoney25823 you must be a very special person to have such strong feelings about a washer. 😆
FYI people, do NOT buy this machine from Lowe's (Model #MVWP576KW) which only has a ONE YEAR warranty, not the 5 offered by Maytag. Yet it looks exactly the same….. Shop carefully.
The style number is different. You have to get the G model not the K model to get the 5 year which is not sold in big box stores
Just FYI the cycles that aren’t deep fill have a rinse spin only not a deep fill rinse.
You know what. This is going to be my first washing machine.
No sir it'll stop filling if you open the lid.
Other issues I've noticed is it's just not cleaning the clothes if I don't rinse it a second time they just don't smell or look clean at all
very nice review i;d say this one is the go to for buyng a new machune
We just ordered this. Large family with a baby in cloth diapers. Thank you so much for the video!
I was wondering about that. Thank you!
@@LorainFurnitureandAppliance Thank you!
It doesnt imo, you can have a bigger load with this and get clothes clean, and it dries in the same time as a HE full load - just my two cents.
My old washer is still running. But when it dies I will be getting one of these, been on my list for a while.
nice job on your reviews. have totally changed my direction on type of machines. great summary on the sq machines. searching out your reviews on youtube on other machines. thank for your honesty and time to put these together. wish your store was in my state.
Gary, did you ever get an answer to your question? I was thinking the same thing.
Keep us posted please
You have to buy the hoses!?!

if you want your machine to last don't over load it,over loading wears the parts inside the agitator and it will not spin
Great Video. You sold me. Would you deliver to Massachusetts ? : ) Finally a Washer that is Old School. Water and Roll over. Perfect.
how do you feel about the GTW685BSLWS?
Thanks for the video. Is this still your go-to machine for a no frills top-load washer? And when you mentioned that it won't clean a queen-sized comforter, is there a washer that you can recommend that can? Preferably a king-sized or am I out of luck? Thanks for the content. I appreciate your honesty in the videos.
You need a front loader or Top Loader with an impeller. The agitator takes up room. That is why you go to a Laundromat for a Comforter.
The problem I have with my Maytag top loader is that after a while it starts making noise in the spin cycle no matter how I arrange the clothes
Appreciate the video. We're coping with frustrations of the beasts of high efficiency and this looks like a good escape route
Your videos are awesome!! Thanks for the great commentary too!
Did you get this maytag?
mo I am waiting for mine to break again I still have warranty and going to use them for all I can. The maytag looks pretty good but I do not like it does not have levels to adjust big turn off for me. I keep hoping speed queen changes their washer for 2019 fingers crossed. If nto I don't know what I am going to do grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
Yes I didn't realize that I couldn't pick a load size. Isn't that so odd?
How are you keeping the lid open on the washer as you wash your clothes
Thats what I want to know
Better than the new Speed Queen!
This one is also belt drive. That's disappointing.
speed queen will go out of business. new regs and competition.
I agree I think the new speed queen sucks more than my washer as u see on my videos
@@Ihavetruth22 honestly I don't think regulations are the issue if this washer can get it right
Check out the new (May, 2019) new Speed Queen "Classic" TC5000WN model.
Thanks for sharing this clip Video. It is useful for who want to buy new washing machine.
Hi! Will this machine fit a king sized bed comforter?
you always do an excellent presentation
Katie S he said on the deep water cycles it fills for the rinses but on normal cycle it’s only spray rinses.
Did you listen to the same video I did? He said normal cycle has half tub wash fill and half tub rinse fill. No mention of spray rinse on normal.
How can I cancel the lid lock permanently? Please help.
One thing I really like about this machine is that it has the Maytag performa agitation
would have beeb nice if they added a glass top to this one so you could see like the GE washers with the agitators in them.very good washer.
Will a king-size comforter fit in this?
I live far from you in Montreal Canada, so I can’t buy a machine from you, but thanks so much for all your videos! They are really helping me to decide which machines I don’t want, and hopefully deciding on the one I will actually buy!
(Do you do tests on dishwashers and fridges as well? I need those too!)
Hi, next to this, what would be your next best top load agitator washer?
Hey where did you buy this model bc there are two different models of the same identical set. But this one has a 5 yr warranty and the other one does not.
You mentioned a direct drive washer that you tested before. Please can I have the link to that video? Thanks.
It has a Welling motor. Yes, this washer is assembled in USA, but Welling is a Chinese company. Is it any good? Will they last like the direct drives?
That's what I want to know.
Robert Przybylowicz
Agreed 100% Robert.

Can you wash Queen size Comforters in this machine?
I know this is a 1 year old comment but no top load washer can wash a queen size comforter
Ge has a 4 cb ft classic washer, I think its the biggest classic washer and it's got a basin with agitation bumps too.
Hi Michael Stahl !!! May I please know, do you still like your Maytag MVWP575GW?
I would love to see how the digital panel Maytag commercial washer does with agitating the clothes. It looks different in the tub and the agitator. Have you tried that one?
When you say the capacity is puny, keep in mind that a few decades ago, that size was considered super capacity. It's perfectly fine for many.
Back then, people didn't have king sized beds.
Yes, please please show us how to do this!
@@AnnaAnna-dg1yd yes please show us
There is a lid lock at the bottom right of the tub, plus there is a piece at the top of the lid which locks it down during spin. You have to remove that piece at the top of the lid, there is only 2 screws, unscrew them and put it in the lid lock and bam! Now you can open the lid at any point in the cycle and it won't stop. Even during the fill cycles.
