Bob, the last couple decided on a GE set. A much better cleaner. If Speed Queen changed their software to have a more vigorous agitation, and it would be fine. At this point it doesn't clean.
It's ridiculous how small they are 3.2 cubic feet my Admiral cheap washable is 3.5 cubic feet they are overcharging garbage product and they only spin in 820 RPM
Just a modern update. Speed Queen revamped the 2018 design after so much negative feedback. I spoke with a commercial sales rep last week (May 2020), and they tried to push a Speed Queen HARD, despite me saying I was more interested in the Maytag (but still open to a sales pitch about a Speed Queen). Their ultimate answer was that they didn't have any Maytag commercial washer/dryer stacks in stock (despite their website listing having it in stock). I mentioned the review blacklisting controversy to the distributor, and I don't think I've heard so much verbal tap dancing since a presidential debate. I'll wait for a Maytag or find a different distributor for my business that does 8+ loads of laundry a day. I refuse to support companies that pull such shenanigans stifling reviews and punishing distributors for publishing honest reviews.
Thank You so much for thinking about the Satisfaction of your customers instead of filling your pockets, That's what make you a Trust Worthy and Honest Businessman!!! This Is Speed Queens Loss Not Yours!!! Sorry Speed Queen You GOOFED!!!
I'm sorry that the jerks at Speed Queen are treating you this way. You are an honest person, giving an honest review and the chips fall where they may. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy and appreciate your reviews. I have an 18 yrs old Kenmore basic washer that works great but, you never know when it might go out. I look forward to more of your reviews.
Wow those are moves that I’d never expect from speed queen. I mean, they were the ones that mocked those poor performance HE washers on their videos, in the first place. And now they come up with one of their own? The high water level on these basically just destroys the water high efficiency concept, to try to increase washing efficiency, so why design a washer like that in the first place? And not taking criticism that they deserve and demand that your videos get taken down because “they didn’t like it”, that’s just being childish. It’s just trying to hide truth from everyone. I commend you on your position. You were fair and DID NOT exaggerate on your review. And if anyone thinks differently, watch the videos without sound. They speak for themselves.
I really appreciate the time you (and several others) take to keep us informed .. based on your videos and knowledgable comments posted regarding Speed Queen's 2018 changes, I managed to find one of the few remaining 2017 models and snap it up. I'm sorry the company treated you so poorly ... were there any other decent top loaders out there, I would have passed on Speed Queen solely due to their attitude.
We suffered through 2 GE agitatorless top loaders in the last 8 years. Our new Speed Queen TR7 has been great so far. We've washed all types of loads. Typically we are washing large loads, selecting large loads for water capacity, and using heavy soil setting. Our results are so much better than our previous 2 top loaders. FYI, I race off-road motorcycles, and would never put heavily muddy clothes in any washer, as that would be washer abuse IMHO.
Thank you so much for putting up the videos. It makes me very pleased that my parents and I got the 2017 models. I know for a fact that if my parents and especially myself waited and got the 2018 model we all would be very angry because just watching the video I know things aren't getting clean, there is hardly any turnover. If something stays on top for the whole wash time it will not get clean. I have a 2001 Whirlpool direct drive right now and it has wonderful turnover on anything I put in that machine which means everything comes out spotless. But now I know that when the day comes for my parents and myself, when we install our 2017 Speed Queen machines our clothes will still come out clean like how they did with the old machines and we won't have to worry about dirty laundry for a long time. Hopefully someday Speed Queen will realize what they have done and will switch back to the pre 2018 models that have been proven to be so successful.
Matt Beeman he mentions the longevity about 5 times in this review and says what has been proven through several tests. This is the definition of an honest salesman.
It's amazing how many of us were praising this company and now the opposite has happened. Im sorry for what they did to you. You gave an honest review and they didn't like it....too bad on their part. Instead of taking constructive criticism they do the opposite and black list you. Speed Queen let us all down. We were their customers and spreading the word about how good they are...now they shafted us. Unless they change this...the speed Queen I own now will probably be the last. I think you will have a winner with the Maytag.....Kirk Rivas did a number of videos and that is one good washer.
@@jeromedavis8575 I think that shocked us all! It wasn’t fair too Eugene. On top of that, they remove negative reviews from their website. This is the brand everyone liked , everyone. I’ll stick with A Whirlpool Calypso Top Loader or a Maytag Neptune front loader that can kick ass as far as Cleaning performance!!
Sorry to hear Speed Queen got their panties in a knot, but thank you for posting an honest review and keeping your customer's best interests in mind. The wash action is terrible! I certainly would not want that piece of crap no matter how well it's built. I have a feeling Speed Queen is going to be regretting this new washer once more of these machines are purchased and more independent reviews are posted.
I appreciate the honesty. Very well spoken! I think videos like this save companies like Speed Queen a lot of trouble. I’d hate to see what the delicate cycle looks like! I can see what this machine is about and decide BEFORE I’m stuck with it and pissed off in every direction, talking trash about Speed Queen, Loraine and anyone else involved. Lol. They should be thankful for the honest review too. After all, It’s because of you I know the front loader is a Best Buy!
I wish we saw this video before we purchased our 2018 Speed Queen. We've had the 2018 SQ for the past 3 months. It was to replace a 1990s Kenmore that worked very well for us, but unfortunately we thought it wasn't worth it to repair (in hindsight, we should have with with the repair). We are a family of 4, with a toddler and a baby, and I can tell you that we are extremely frustrated with this new washer. In fact, I found this video when trawling through looking for solutions. The 2018 SQ does nothing for us. We don't even have very dirty clothes, just non-oily baby food, light dirt and soil from playing outside, and crumbs to wash off and it doesn't even do that properly. We're having to hand-wash stuff either before or after each wash. Stains that haven't been washed properly again and again have gotten moldy and we've had to discard bibs and articles of baby clothes that have lasted us 3 years and 2 other washing machines. We were lucky that we went to an excellent dealer that went out of their way to be helpful. They sent technicians over twice, the second time to upgrade the circuit board to the latest version 6 (didn't make a difference). We finally worked something out where they're going to replace our 2018 with a warehouse-damaged 2017 SQ after replacing the damaged panel, at no charge to us. From my conversation with the technician, the 2018 SQ has been problematic for numerous customers. The service manager, who has been assisting us for the past month, confirms this. Our dealer, who's been in business for over 50 years, will no longer sell Speed Queen due to their issues. To anyone reading this, don't make the same mistake we did. Stay far away from it.
We've had no issues with our 2019 TR7 so far. I don't know if SQ have changed the wash programs since the release of your model. As far as I know the mechanics are the same. If you look at Kirk Rivas' review with the dirty jeans, this washer does a fine job at removing the heavy stains. Some have commented that his machine appears more aggressive when agitating than the infamous earlier example reviewed by Lorain Furniture.
Hopefully, once Speed Queen gets enough flak for this flawed design from the public, they will come to their senses. They owe you a big apology. Maybe then they will remove you from their blacklist. Your honesty is greatly appreciated. From my point of view, you aren't denigrating Speed Queen in any way..you just pointed out the wash performance flaw not the brand in general...
BroccoliBeefed Yeah it is completely retarded....Especially when just about every washing machine video on TH-cam that relates to how awful or unreliable HE washers are, the comment section would almost always feature someone recommending and promoting a Speed Queen. Deservedly so...Up until now...This is like a huge slap in the face to everyone that cared enough to praise the former models...With their comments and all of the time and effort put into posting useful videos about how well the washer was constructed and washes. It all seems to have gone unappreciated.....
Wow. Speed Queen was one of the last that still made the "old fashion" type washers with the agitators that actually clean your clothes. It's truly sad. These new "low water" washers are junk. They don't clean your clothes.
I feel Speed Queen really babied out on THAT. They obviously can't take criticism very well. They took down all of their negative reviews on their website too. Really it's speed queen,'s fault.
Smurdle450 I was the last negative review, I called out their employees for lying in their 5 star reviews and 20 minutes later they removed all of the reviews.
I know what you are going through with S.Q. Not as a seller but as a customer... About 4 years ago I purchased the top of the line front load washer and dryer and from day 1 the Dryer was a major nightmare!!! the dryer would never shut off on any of the automatic cycles and after having the service man over 5 times in 2 weeks, he could not find anything wrong with the dryer and told me that it was my venting system... I told him no it's not, it's a new regulation vent and I had no problems with the other dryer that i had working with this vent... so i called speed Queen direct and they told me that they are going to go by what the service man says and left it at that!!! So i went and took the vent off the back of the dryer all together and ran a full load of clothes on a normal dry cycle and guess what??? the dryer still wouldn't shut off!!! So I called the store back again and they still wouldn't help me... After posting some nagitive remarks on face book about how S.Q wouldn't help me, they saw this and threatened me with legal action if I didn't remove the posts!!! I told them just contact the store where I purchased this from and instruct them to take this back and give me a full refund and you will never hear from me again!!! The next day I got a call from the store asking me what would be a good day for pick up??? You see it pays to stand your ground especially when your paying good money for something that doesn't work!!! Now Let's face it S.Q. this washer has very poor washing action and you need to do something to better improve it's cleaning or the brand name "SPEED QUEEN" will just be a memory to many of us customers!!! Wake up and smell the coffee will you???
Sorry that speed queen treated you this way. I do hope you keep your video up so people will be informed. I will not deal with a company that treats dealers this way for a honest review. You did a great job. Thank you so much. Just an update 3/27/19 we decided on Electrolux front load. We are very happy with our purchase. Thank you for this honest review or we would have purchased a speed queen. It seems very few are happy with the speed queens made after 2016.
Thank you for sharing this video of how the new 2018 top load Speed Queen washer work (or don't work as it turns out). I am more shocked that Speed Queen has canceled your dealership. I guess they don't want a Speed Queen customer to be informed on how the washers perform. Shame on them! This brand was on the top of my list to purchase to replace a 30-year old Maytag washer & dryer. Now, not so much. Looks like that I will continue to throw more replacement parts until they can't be found.
I am so sorry to hear what happened to you. It seems to be managing the sheets. They have some good movement. Thanks for doing the sheet wash test. Again I hope things go well for you.
Maytag washer model: MVWP575GW is the ONLY new washing machine worth anything at all! Speed Queen has gone into the gutter with their redesigned washers!! UPDATE: Speed Queen has REINTRODUCED the "classic" design Speed Queen washer! It is the model: TC5... so that is a great machine, same as the SQ washers were made for decades!
Wish I had listened to you before! I was trying to decide which Speed Queen washer to buy after my smelly, front load HE machine finally quit after 12 years of tolerating lousy cleaning. I knew I wanted a Speed Queen for it’s history, reliability and “made in the USA” claims. I went with the TR7 for it’s gentler treatment of clothes. I had 30 days to try it and was pretty happy with the gentle and quiet wash but I noticed that most of my tomato/grease type stains weren’t coming out clean where my old “hated” washer did better! Finally after a dinner party a 3” white stain of a mayonnaise/sugar based sauce on a navy tablecloth, I put it through a fairly aggressive cycle and it came out almost the same! I rewashed it and I could still see a dark grease stain. Luckily this all transpired before my 30 day trial was over, I had an amazing customer service driven appliance dealer who, without question, allowed me to change out my TR7 for a TC5.
I have the older style speed Queen. Probably purchased it in 2016 or 2017 and it's wonderful. Before this I had a cheap GE that was crap. It barley got the clothes wet it used so little water and the clothes came out dirty. After about 5 years it broke and the repair man said it was not worth fixing. When I asked him for recommendations he suggested Speed Queen. he said they were high quality and best of all serviceable if they did ever have a problem. This thing is basic, it has hot, medium and cold, about 5 load size setting and either delicate or regular. I adore it. It has an agitator and fills all the way up with water. Cleans clothes perfectly and is built like a tank. No bells and whistles and it was rather expensive, but I learned I really don't want a bunch of electronics on a washer to fail, I just want it to clean well. I don't care if it looks like a spaceship all new and sleek either. This thin works so well that when my sister was having problems with her set I purchased the same one and a dryer for her. She loves it too. I recommended them to people who are fed up with their front loading pieces of garbage. So sorry to hear that speed queen has switched to the new technology now and their machines are no longer any good. Why mess with a good thing. Sometimes the old ways are still the best ways.
Wow, I'm sorry to hear you are dealing with this. I commend you for standing your ground, however. Maybe they will re-evaluate their "new" design. lol Thank you for posting these videos though. I think it's great for people to see how machines work before they buy them.
I’m very sorry to hear that Speed Queen is behaving this way. It’s not your fault their new machines are not as good as their old ones. You were just telling the truth and we can clearly see that it barely washes the clothes. As soon as people start buying them, they will be disappointed for themselves. Speed Queen should be embracing your feedback instead of bullying you to try to silence you. Thank you for your videos, they are very informative and I appreciate them because I am in the market for a top load washer, but not a Speed Queen.
@ Cristy L , Speed Queen is bashing Lorrain because they spent an insane amount of money on this re-design and don't want to admit they've shot themselves in the foot. Seems really stupid. They could have made one hell of a washplate type top-loading model instead of this stupid contraption.
I think Speed Queen's new slogan should be "a premium clean with the perfect balance of tlc". We saw that in Kirk's dirt test. No beating of fibers, but showed dirt who's boss.
I saw the dirt test on Kirk's Speed Queen. Needless to say, I've officially decided to reconcile with Speed Queen and take back everything negative I said. Their slogan should be "a premium clean with the perfect balance of TLC". Kirk's video clearly showed that!
Wow that's insane and extremely disappointing behaviour from Alliance Laundry Systems. This machine is extremely well built, however the wash action is severely flawed and needs a redesign of the Agitator or the addition of vanes on the sides of the wash basket. I have not doubt that shortly after this machine reaches end users there will be very unhappy customers.
Hugh McVea , I know right? It doesn't even have vanes or washboard nubs on the outside of the tub. How much do they pay their engineers again? Engineers on meth apparently.
Furthermore, I got a message from Alliance saying that if I continued to speak negatively about their 2018 models on Social Media, they would take action to have my posts removed.
I am editing a video to post on my channel. I made a negative review on behalf of a friend on their website, it showed up, and then shortly after... it was gone. I got it all on video. They're definitely removing any negative reviews. That should be fraud.
And it gets better. Now they posted a reply on my Facebook page (most of it canned, like their engineers have been working on designing these 2018s for YEARS and whatnot.. and they said they're "only removing reviews from people who have not yet registered their machines." Yeah right. So, out of the entire SQ universe, there have only been *THREE PEOPLE* who purchased AND registered a 7, and all three had 5-star reviews, complete with written text that's already in SQ commercials.....
If they are accurate and honest reviews, SQ would have a hard time convincing YT/FB/IG/ETC to remove posts from any random person or even dealers. The only sites they can truly get posts removed from, are their own sites. They can of course terminate dealers if they don't like what dealers say (ala Lorain Furniture - crap move on SQ's part I must say). But average people posting their opinions on any subject is quite literally the "bread and butter" of social media sites. If they began censoring their users in that fashion, those social media sites would literally vanish in months - kind of like how SQ/Alliance is going to vanish from the consumer market very quickly. If SQ/Alliance were to produce comparable quality machines for the commercial market, they would be exiting the commercial marketplace just as rapidly if not faster because Commercial customers don't have time to wait around for SQ to decide to honor it's warranty and such. Their business of cleaning clothes in laundromats / etc would close up if the machines were all broken down because SQ made crap quality machines. We will have to wait and see, but my personal guess is that they will start marketing the 2018 consumer version to the commercial market very soon to CUT COSTS and INCREASE PROFITS.... We shall have to wait and see.
Wow, we just bought a speed queen on Tuesday and everything you just said is right. I wish we seen this 1st. And we watched a lot of videos because we got a GE 2 yr ago and we didn’t like it so we thought we would try this. This is sad because my boyfriend is a logger and we need some thing that cleans like the old one. Thanks for the truth.
We have one of these new machines at my job. It’s complete crap. We use it to wash rags and mops. And it does not clean them at all. We also have a cheap set that is in a separate building. I will walk all of my laundry to that set rather then wash my stuff in this washer. Why did they discontinue the front load? That was going to be my next washer. Very disappointed.
I do not like the wash action of this machine. Very poor. Like you stated, the clothes are just swishing around. I've always liked Speed Queen washers but I will not be buying this one. I prefer the 2017 model better. Thank you for being honest and making these videos.
So if you were buying a Top Load Washer, and you had your choice of currently manufactured Washers what would you buy? Whirlpool doesn't build the direct drive washer any more. If I were to buy a $400 washer and wash my Carhart's and Jeans on a regular basis, how long would this machine last? I don't want to replace my washer every 4 years either. What do you suggest?
I think speed queen should call you, apologize and offer you back your dealership considering they have realized their folly now and changed it for 2019.
My older Speed Queen does fabulous cleaning job. It is a TR5 with the very basic control panel. I find the more complicated the digital type panel, the more trouble. But thats just me, I am not an expert like you! God bless you for honesty but other companies pull these games too. Maytag is not the company it used to be either.
Thank you for refusing to be silenced. I bought one of the 2016 front loaders and have talked countless people into buying Alliance Machines. We had them on our horse farm and they were amazing. It's so disturbing that they have released such a product with what they are capable of. It's even more disturbing that they are treating dealer's like this and trying to hide reviews. It's obvious you care about what you sell and your customers satisfaction.
Since Speed Queen is now producing an obviously inferior product why would you want to be a dealer anyhow? The public will blame you and not Speed Queen for selling them the product. It seems to me they did you a favor.
I just bought and received my new 2017 Speed Queen this week, I did this because I wanted the older generation model and it’s truly a well built machine. It’s such a shame Speed Queen has sacrificed itself with this new model, such a shame that its hard working employees will suffer from this egregious decision. Now we must hope Speed Queen can stay liquid not only for their employees but for future parts production and availability.
If their sales drop from this POS machine, I won't be surprised if Alliance Laundry might decide to exit the consumer market all together, rather than fix the flaw. As for discontinuing the consumer front loaders, I wonder if they're discontinuing them, because they don't get enough sales from them. That's the only reason I can think of as to why they're discontinuing them. I won't be surprised if they eventually exit the consumer market completely.
That's a shame. I've had my Speed Queen front loader for about fourteen years and it's been flawless. Speed Queen has not been highly successful in marketing to the domestic market since wringer machines were the only machines available. They've withdrawn from the domestic market before. I selected the front loader with rear control panel so that I could select the second dryer in the lineup from the bottom bringing the total cost of the machine in line with the top front loading sets from mass market brands. An added benefit is that my laundry doesn't fall behind the machines when I'm folding laundry. Dropping the front loader from the domestic market is also a bonehead move because their front loader is the only machine that they can market internationally in every market. I think that Speed Queen needs to develop a new marketing plan along with the wash actions of their new top loader if Alliance has plans to be successful in domestic laundry. Currently I think that their shooting themselves in the foot.
Bruce Solomon I agree, it’s a shame they’re dropping the front load because it’s the most decent front load you can purchase. I just purchased one, it was delivered last week, it works great. I’ve done a ton of laundry, putting it to work. I’ve even washed a king size comforter, it cane out nice. Maybe they’ll will them back. I’m very glad I was able to get one before they discontinued them. Thank you for the awesome report.
It's one of the best purchases that I've made in my entire life along with my Kirby vacuum, Kitchenaid stand mixer and Toyota 4Runner. If I want to purchase something more robustly built I'll have to buy an anvil.
I bought my 2017 set just in time ..AWNE82SP and matching gas dryer.. love it !!! This new model minds well say GE on it, all the weird sounds , I do like the new look, but glad mine does not run and sound like this. There's an old saying, when something isn't broken , don't fix it. Now for the 2018 model in my mind , would of just been larger drum and bigger motor with crazy spin power , and a built in disable switch behind the mech. so opening the lid doesn't shut off the water. that should be your own choice .
Thank you for your videos, and you honest observations of this machine . It is sad that our Government has stuck their nose in our appliances and SQ was forced to comply and make a machine like this. Long live the legacy 2017 SQ machine. I would have to say I agree with you if I was getting a 2018 machine I would get a commercial Maytag.
At least one dealer has posted that the machines from 2017 and before MET all government requirements, and therefore SQ did NOT have to redesign the machines to meet the requirements. So if they didn't have to redesign the machine to meet the government requirements, WHY DID THEY COMPLETELY REDESIGN what many have stated for years WHAT WAS THE BEST TOP LOADER MACHINE ON THE MARKET? (Rhetorical) ANSWER: To REDUCE costs and INCREASE profits dramatically. Building the machines in the US is one of the primary reasons for the machines' cost being so high already, but as costs keep going up they cannot keep raising prices dramatically every year and still be able to sell the machines. So if they redesign the machines and eliminate the transmission entirely, and use cheaper motors and things of this nature suddenly their manufacuring/production costs drop significantly while prices go up reasonably. End result - more profits for SQ / Alliance, significantly lower customer satisfaction ratings, ultimately much lower sales volumes, and in due course SQ's complete removal from the consumer market...
Where's the evidence t hat the performance of this washer has anything to do with government regulations? Other companies seem to be making fine washers under the same regulations.
i just came across these as being the best built, but after a couple hours of research, i'm already looking at 2017 or earlier models. thanks for informing the rest of us. its sad how quickly i was turned on to speed queen only to find out that they have sold out already. too bad cause i was actually looking at spending more money than i usually do. kudos for telling tactfully to go pound sand.
my folks purchased a washer in 1975 don't recall the brand . they moved to a new home in 1996 the washer was working fine . so i surprised them with a maytag waher and dryer . when they moved . mom said she wanted the old washer so it went in the garage . 2 years later the washer started having issues after issues . eventually it started leaking water and they where told in needed a new tub . moving forward they replaced the new washer with the old one till this day . go figure
MrJRamal yes, in march that will be it , BUT you can still get it through on-premise speed queen laundry through a commercial dealer. Same machine with just a parts only warranty.
Agree …this Speed Queen model is built for lightly soiled and small loads .. if it would have been made to actually agitate both ways regular agitation and this swirl agitation it would be more efficient when it comes to cleaning clothes
Thank you for your honesty. Now, I just do not know what washing machine to buy. Can't any of them really clean! I am returning my new Maytag ..B765 (transparent top) cause, the deep wash give no water and the spin is too sensitive, it stops if the clothes arent well distributed, even when they are. Tell me sir, what should I buy that is efficient and reliable?
That garbage imitation of a Speed Queen agitates the same way as the crap-tacular $400 GE my grandmother bought, used once, and hated. She returned it, then went and BOUGHT A SPEED QUEEN TO REPLACE IT. "Why Speed Queen?" she ask when I told her about them, because they worked like a washer should, that's why. NOT ANYMORE!
The cowardliness of this company...demanding they take the videos down while also telling you they want to drop you. Hilarious, imagine being such a fragile snowflake that honest feedback elects this kind of action. I always had this thought in the back of my mind that this company was pretty stagnant and has trouble adjusting to the modern world, this video confirms it. In case you weren't aware, CNET has stated this washer is the worst they've ever reviewed and even referenced your review. So glad they're backing you up! Down with SpeedQueen! Thank you so much for being a ethical voice among the noise. If you ever decide to take on shipping across states, definitely let us know!
I have a Whirlpool HE Cabrio Washer and Dryer. I love my dryer but my washer goes off balance every load. Computer reads "UL" and stops, so I have to stay close and level my load on every wash. Is this an easy fix that my handy husband can fix? We have leveled the machine on the floor. It appears to be something inside the machine that is off and needs correcting.
Thanks for posting this video. Your don't get retailers with this level of honesty. You're doing a fantastic job considering the circumstances. Keep up the good work. You mentioned that you ordered a Maytag commercial. Is there a whirlpool equivalent? If there is, what are the differences (besides the logo) and is it available to order for residential use like the Maytag commercial? Thanks again for your hard work.
I am so frustrated. I need a good washer but my stairwell limits the size I can buy. Speed Queen is one of the few washers that will fit down my stairs; however, after listening to your commentary, I think I need a different machine. What washer would you recommend? Thanks for taking time to respond to my query. Krys
I'm not a conspiracy theorist either but we are basically being conditioned to hate top loaders and switch over to front load washers that use no visible water . Man I hope the Trump administration changes these DOE/EPA mandates. Slowly dictating what we can and can not use.
It may not be the President that would change it, but the reason Speed Queen changed is because of the Government mandates. If people don't like the way washer are being built today write your Representative, because it is the DOE that puts these mandates on the Manufacture.
Did you ever get the Speed Queen franchise back? The wash action looked pathetic. No rollover, items stayed around the agitator post. They should give this up and stay with the TC-5. Perhaps add more water level options on it. I don't think I'd have one of these even with a 100 year warranty.
today i recieived my new 2018 speed queen washing machine. After all the fake bad press i viewed on the internet, i was very afraid of having made a bad decision. I am glad to report that i am completely satisfied with this washing machine. The results were very good and the clothes were extremely clean ( almost cleaner than when i bought them ) . For my laundry, i chose large load ( dont overload it ), warm temp, and heavy duty cycle. If i compare the results with my old Maytag, there were absolutely no difference. I would not buy another brand of washing machine even if it was at half price.
After a month with my new 2018 speed queen, i am still very satisfied with it, i cant see any difference with my old Maytag. i always use warm water, heavy duty cycle, double rinse and a good quality detergent, and mostly i dont overload it. I have seen the new washing mechanism of 2018 Maytag, and i am not impressed at all. I always pre-treat heavy stains before washing ( have done that for 30 years ). So i guess i have bought a magical one because i am completely happy with my purchase at Gerard Poirier Meubles in Quebec ( beauce )
How many dealers can they pull? I live in a pretty populated area in a world famous area of the country and I have no idea of where to buy any speed queen product.. The action does look kinda wankey here. Do you think one tide pod is enough detergent?
Thank you for your video. I appreciate when people put reviews up. Suggestion, after throwing in the soap pod, put the camera back up to the control panel and show what options your are choosing, thus proving you are actually using the settings that are claimed. I believe you, just a suggestion. And by the way, my Whirpool washer is 10 years old. What brand do you suggest I buy?
I'd rather lose profit honestly than lie about a product that doesn't live up to its claims. Honesty will ALWAYS come out on top. Unexpectedly, for being straight out with customers.
I have a GE Profile top load washer from 2006 that allows me to adjust the water level (always set to max) and it has an agitator. I've never had an issue with it not cleaning. For 2018, what would be a comparable unit that can fill the tub all the way with water and cleans well?
If I can't find an old Speed Queen I guess I'll be getting the Maytag instead. Can you please help me with the Speed Queen model numbers? I know the TR3/5/7000 are garbage. Which other models should be avoided? Are the 2018 commercial machines also this new wash style, or are those ok still? Is the LWN432 the commercial version of the 2017 that everyone loves? Help!
Its really sad they did this. They had great washers because they did, but a lot of people praised them and trashed talked the HE models and everyone has their points of views so that’s fine but look what SQ ended up making.... and what they did and said too you was ridiculous. Nobody told them too make this design. Really sorry for this my friend.
Thats really good you look for your customer needs first. Because of not living in your area (I'm from Canada) otherwise I would go to your store and buy what ever you suggest. I called a store near to my house asking for the 2017 Speed Queen set and the salesman told me there is no more and also the warranty service is not what it used to be. He recommended strongly the Maytag Commercial Top Load set. The one you also recommend. I then went to the store today and he explained about the two Speed Queen 2018 sets he sold. The first set, service of repair within one month. The second set, buyers also had to call the service repair. He told me he always suggest to people buying the set of Speed Queen and he will see them 20 years later for another set. He cannot do this anymore. The store offers the Maytag Commercial Top Load set for over a year and a half. I didnt buy these today because I also want a freezer and they dont carry any in the showroom. I have to do my home work and look at the size I need and call him back for the order. This store does exist for the last 52 years so I do believe they can give a very good service. Also they are going to do the installation of the washer and dryer without any extra charge. Theres nothing hard about but when it is included, I'll take it. Again Eugene, your help and generosity are greatly appreciated. Thousand of thanks and god bless you and your family.
So what do you recommend instead? I've been in the market for a set of Speed Queens for about a year and now that I really need them, they're apparently not worth it. What do you suggest for a washer/dryer set? Top load, agitator is fine as that's all I've ever had.
Thanks for the heads up, but it's too late... Just ordered a pair of LGs that I'm guessing will be ok for 10 years...? WT1501CW and DLE1501W. I would have bought pre-2018 SQ's for twice as much money first thing tomorrow morning, but they won't sell them to me! The LGs are the exact opposite of what I wanted, but the price was right and they'll be here Friday...
Thank God... I've been sweating it all day fearing that I bought some junk. How's the dryer? Also... I'll definitely be subbed and looking for that video!
AWESOME. I only had about 1.5 hours to shop before the appliance sales seemingly everyone had yesterday ended TODAY so I hammered through the research as quick as I could and hoped for the best. I didn't even have time to look at pictures of them to even see what I bought until after I'd done it. Too busy reading. Sounds like I could have done a lot worse! I look forward to the reviews coming out!
Sometimes I think it's a little too smart for it's own good, and the songs they play are hilarious now but will probably become annoying in time, but I'm mostly very pleased with them.
Excellent video, thank you! They were excellent machines at one time, so disappointed in the new models. Shopping the new style washers has been a nightmare... machines that control themselves. Prefer to control the machine, not the vice versa. We just finished w-Maytag Centennial, an 'eco-friendly' nightmare from day one. Cannot change the water level if you decide to throw a few more items in, it will completely empty out and start over... If your lid is open & it has reached its fill level - you have a couple of seconds to close it or it will empty. Within the first 3 months the washer spin cycle was bouncing all over the place. So much more wrong with it - avoid it at all costs. Once reputable brands are no longer the go to. Any suggestions?
Are all Speed Queen front loaders going to be discontinued soon? Would you recommend model FF7 (the "top of their line") or is it a 2018 less powerful edition? I've had my very cheap Kenmore for 12 years and it is gasping its last breath after being repaired three times and I wanted to get a Speed Queen because I thought it would last longer without repair than I will but, of course, I don't want the new wimpy edition of the top loader that you reviewed. Thanks in advance if you have a chance to answer.
I would like to drop this here. CNET which is a serious website that evaluates some washers, and other technology related stuff, evaluated the new 2018 speedQueen and found the machine to be one of the worst performing washers it’s ever tested. And they do it pretty scientifically. They even mentioned Lorain’s channel on their article. Which only reinforces what we already knew. www.cnet.com/products/speed-queen-tr7-washing-machine/review/
We sell these, and he's absolutely right. They do not clean. We've already had to start buying back, and trading them out with other brands.
What are the machines SQ is being replaced with?
Bob, the last couple decided on a GE set. A much better cleaner. If Speed Queen changed their software to have a more vigorous agitation, and it would be fine. At this point it doesn't clean.
michele pierce they can keep it. I have a sq front loader and it’s great. When it’s time for a new one it won’t be this one
It's ridiculous how small they are 3.2 cubic feet my Admiral cheap washable is 3.5 cubic feet they are overcharging garbage product and they only spin in 820 RPM
What other brands do you suggest?
I’m going to buy appliances from his store as much as I can thanks to this move. Customers>profit!
I have to praise you for your honesty.Shame on you Speed Queen.
Ok and thanks for the reply! Maybe after suffering through the 2 GE washers, any washer would be better, but I'll keep you posted!
My 2023 TC-5 is working like a charm. Clothes are coming out super clean, it washes clothes FAST. Very happy with it so far.
Just got mine and I like it
I got the 2019 one
I posted on their facebook page that i will NEVER do business with them because of the way they treat their dealers. My comment got deleted.
you have to post on the revew part then they cant delete it
but why did you but the TR5
This is how Speed Queen celebrate 110 years of commercial laundry.
Speed queen screwed with the wrong TH-cam channel. Your videos are super educational.
If I lived in Cleveland, I'd buy from this guy. Honestly is so hard to find in sales people.
Speed queen done f**ked it up... and it's kinda childish they blacklisted him for a less than stellar review...
They're turning to that whirlpool treatment! Really? Speed Queen, you get what you deserve!
You are a hero as an honest businessman. Thank you for posting sir! Speed Queen should be thanking you and putting their engineers to work.
My husband came close to buying one,I'm so happy I found this video. Thank you! We are Farmers I have to have a powerful washer.
Some have commented that his machine appears more aggressive when agitating than the infamous earlier example reviewed by Lorain Furniture.
get the 2019 speed queen tc5000wn
that washer actually has a agitator that is not bolted to the tub :)
It should still be within warranty. Return it and get a different product. I've heard the 2019 is fixed, but I'd still buy something else.
@@frazzleface753Lucky YOU to have dodged the 2018 bullet!!
@Mike Bennett , I can't believe how retarded this is. Why in the world would SQ think this would be a good idea?
BroccoliBeefed
Yeah it is completely retarded....Especially when just about every washing machine video on TH-cam that relates to how awful or unreliable HE washers are, the comment section would almost always feature someone recommending and promoting a Speed Queen.
Truly agree with you, buddy.
This is what is in Speed Queen's current lineup:
The TR series, Note, TR=Trash Rated(my opinion)
The TC series,Note, TC= Totally Clean(my opinion)
The Speed Queen "home" washer division is FINISHED! Sad.....
Nice. NICE. Oh, speed queen, you done f**ked up your brand.
I say screw them! Screw GE! Screw Whirlpool/Maytag!
And your option is?
@@jeromedavis8575In other words, Screw American Appliances?
Sucks, Sucks, Sucks
Sorry that speed queen treated you this way. I do hope you keep your video up so people will be informed. I will not deal with a company that treats dealers this way for a honest review. You did a great job. Thank you so much.
Just an update 3/27/19 we decided on Electrolux front load. We are very happy with our purchase. Thank you for this honest review or we would have purchased a speed queen. It seems very few are happy with the speed queens made after 2016.
How dare they blacklist you just for giving a HONEST review of their new washer!! SQ have definatly gone downhill after this!!
You were correct in your assessment and had every right and were in fact right to speak up.
The older S Queens are FABULOUS @web Surfin. My newer Maytag was not half what my old one was. We sure have to choose carefully, don’t we??
Speed Queen, you gonna learn today! This will never get your drawers clean! PERIOD!!!!
Thank you for your honest review, you demonstrate integrity. These big companies don’t care about our really hard earned money.
And make it better!
No they won't or ask a higher price...
Screw Speed Queen! Absolutely unequivocally abysmal!
No wash plate those are a joke
They need to go back to the drawing board. I'm glad I bought a 2017 model back in May. I'm really proud of the machine I bought.
Excuse my language, but I am livid!
And you just know kids are really interested in this subject. Ha!
Definitely, and I will have it up by tonight. And you have my permission to do with it as you please :-)
Seems like you just don't like anything.
A sad day in Ripon, and no more front loaders, too. With this new top loader and no front loaders, Speed Queen drove the nails in the coffin.
Thanks for the posting and the honesty..Well appreciated.
How can I find the old version of this washer? Thanks for having the guts to be honest!!
Props to you for telling it straight! This earned my subscription. I'd like to see a ketchup test in the maytag commercial to compare.
It looks like the best thing it can do to the laundry is tangle it! LOVE your videos and the work you put into them.
@747captain 2023: That agitation is PATHETIC. It barely moves the water and yes it just tangles the clothes, they cannot clean properly like that!
@livey oone speed queen TC5 (Classic Clean)
@livey oone They basically went back to the pre-2018 design that actually worked, but ONLY with the TC5000WN model (also called the Classic).
I'm Curious what brand are you recommending that is better? based on build, wash system etc.
Does Speed Queen test the washers before sending out? The inside of mine was wet when it arrived, is this normal?
yes
My older Speed Queen does fabulous cleaning job. It is a TR5 with the very basic control panel. I find the more complicated the digital type panel, the more trouble. But thats just me, I am not an expert like you! God bless you for honesty but other companies pull these games too. Maytag is not the company it used to be either.
looks like its tangling too. or trying to.
If you don't mind saying, what's the difference in the dealers cost to the costumers cost?
Since Speed Queen is now producing an obviously inferior product why would you want to be a dealer anyhow? The public will blame you and not Speed Queen for selling them the product. It seems to me they did you a favor.
I just bought and received my new 2017 Speed Queen this week, I did this because I wanted the older generation model and it’s truly a well built machine. It’s such a shame Speed Queen has sacrificed itself with this new model, such a shame that its hard working employees will suffer from this egregious decision. Now we must hope Speed Queen can stay liquid not only for their employees but for future parts production and availability.
You're absolutely right.
I won't be surprised if they eventually exit the consumer market completely.
davenwin1973 Low sales is exactly why
I ment to say that (they're) shooting themselves in the foot. Sorry about the spelling error. I'm typing with my thumb only on my iPhone.
Time for me to find a newer used speed queen, store it in my barn for when my 2014 model dies in maybe 2040 or so
my folks purchased a washer in 1975 don't recall the brand . they moved to a new home in 1996 the washer was working fine . so i surprised them with a maytag waher and dryer . when they moved . mom said she wanted the old washer so it went in the garage . 2 years later the washer started having issues after issues . eventually it started leaking water and they where told in needed a new tub . moving forward they replaced the new washer with the old one till this day . go figure
Are you sure they will discontinue front load washers? On their websites they show new washers with the new control panel that this washer has.
MrJRamal yes, in march that will be it , BUT you can still get it through on-premise speed queen laundry through a commercial dealer. Same machine with just a parts only warranty.
Thanks I'm glad I got a Speed Queen last year.
Front loaders never rinse all the soap out compared to a top loader, that is why they need special soap that does not foam.
Love your honest reviews! What is the model # of this 2018 unit that you are panning?
That garbage imitation of a Speed Queen agitates the same way as the crap-tacular $400 GE my grandmother bought, used once, and hated. She returned it, then went and BOUGHT A SPEED QUEEN TO REPLACE IT. "Why Speed Queen?" she ask when I told her about them, because they worked like a washer should, that's why. NOT ANYMORE!
AWN > TR By a mile.
This is 2023 and he was very right about people hating this machine in 2019 I think they made some good changes.
Does anybody know yet how the 2019 machines will be? I’m just curious if Speed Queen will resort back to the old design.
Doubt it, but am hopeful.
MrEcm51 2017 style
Thanks for posting this video. Your don't get retailers with this level of honesty. You're doing a fantastic job considering the circumstances. Keep up the good work. You mentioned that you ordered a Maytag commercial. Is there a whirlpool equivalent? If there is, what are the differences (besides the logo) and is it available to order for residential use like the Maytag commercial? Thanks again for your hard work.
Emilio Griffin so basically Maytag is the flagship of Whirlpool's appliances? Is that what you're implying?
I am so frustrated. I need a good washer but my stairwell limits the size I can buy. Speed Queen is one of the few washers that will fit down my stairs; however, after listening to your commentary, I think I need a different machine. What washer would you recommend? Thanks for taking time to respond to my query. Krys
I like you review you care about your customers as I do I work on all .
Have my own Business for the last 28 years.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist either but we are basically being conditioned to hate top loaders and switch over to front load washers that use no visible water .
Man I hope the Trump administration changes these DOE/EPA mandates. Slowly dictating what we can and can not use.
People that think presidents change washing machines shouldn’t be allowed to vote
It may not be the President that would change it, but the reason Speed Queen changed is because of the Government mandates. If people don't like the way washer are being built today write your Representative, because it is the DOE that puts these mandates on the Manufacture.
Bnizzofashizzo
Is that directed at me ? That wasn't what I said. TRY READING WHAT I WROTE .
Bnizzofashizzo You’re not the brightest..
IF the government mandates are the case why does the brand new Maytag commercial washer exist?
This washer is good can’t complain
What series was this tc or tr ?
This the TR
How did you bypass the lid lock? I would like to see how my new machine is agitating!
@@danielthibodeau4838 What model number? Thank you.
What brand do you suggest I buy?
whats your feeling on the best mechanical washer out there
I'd rather lose profit honestly than lie about a product that doesn't live up to its claims.
Help!
The tr5 is not garbage, i own one.
Wow, glad I bought a Maytag top load. It maybe slow, but it cleans well. Definitely will cross any SpeedQueen products off my future lists.
How do you bypass the switch so you can see how your machine works when it is on, I believe I have a 2017 or 2016 model Speed Queen.
The first time the washer completed a load I about fell over laughing. I had no idea that modern Asian appliances ALL play little songs.
So what washer do you recommend? We were going to purchase the washer dryer set. We have HE and hate them. Thanks
Can you tell me if this was defective or is it just trash?
I would like to drop this here. CNET which is a serious website that evaluates some washers, and other technology related stuff, evaluated the new 2018 speedQueen and found the machine to be one of the worst performing washers it’s ever tested. And they do it pretty scientifically. They even mentioned Lorain’s channel on their article. Which only reinforces what we already knew.
www.cnet.com/products/speed-queen-tr7-washing-machine/review/
Cnet says every machine "does not remove stains"
CNET's final comment in the video says it all: (paraphrased) buy ANY Other machine other than the Speed Queen!!!
