In my high school’s musical this year, the lead was given to the director’s daughter who is a sophmore and had never sung or acted before instead of a senior who is going to college for vocal performance.
My lead role in high school was taken away from me because the newly elected mayor and respected local kindergarten teacher had a word with my music teacher about the “casting”. Her daughter got the role. 🙄
Nepotism comes from the mid to late 15th century Italy. The Borgia pope ordained his son as a cardinal and gave away lucrative positions in the church and was even accused of simony (buying or selling of something spiritual or closely connected with the spiritual, in this case, the title and position as pope) when he was ordained pope. He gave away positions to nephews and all sorts, giving rise to the term “nepotism” (the etymology being “nipote” (or nephew), then “nepotismo” (or the act of giving away a lucrative position because you were the nephew of someone important), which then was translated to French, as “népotisme” and anglicised as “nepotism”). Today, the act of nepotism means to award (mostly unearned or unfairly) positions which are lucrative and somewhat elusive because of family ties or even to award children of your friends or your friends themselves. It happens at all levels, as we’ve noted in this thread, and for this child singing, had she been born to anyone else, would never have had the chance to stand on the stage in the Hollywood Bowl, with her act backed up by professional actors, singers and musicians, who have accompanied some of the best performers of our time, all while denigrating those same people by wearing a ridiculous outfit more suited to a bedroom to keep toasty before bed than a stage in front of an audience paying a ridiculous sum to see world class performers, only to be hit with the singing talent of an average child with no training or talent. It’s not fair. And for her parents to give her a standing ovation and protect her from some of the criticism that every budding singer/actress/musician is subject to, in order to help them improve and drive them to practice and seek out assistance, is ridiculous. It isn’t North’s fault, but the child has an attitude and a certain air of superciliousness that is borne of her mother laughing off her behaviour and her father reinforcing it and acting as an example. I fear for her, she is going to be one mighty, unhappy and screwed up adult if she doesn’t get a reality check and start working for what she has instead of being handed every material thing she wants and everything she wants on a whim, like this performance. I feel for the kids with genuine talent; who are spending mornings and evenings before and after school, weekends and nights practicing to just get a role in a local production, let alone the Hollywood Bowl. 🙄 Life certainly isn’t very fair.
This wasn't North West's fault. It's the adults here. Her parents influenced (or most likely paid) people to hand her the role when she didn't work for it and did not earn it. I will not place any blame on a child because the accountability and responsibility lie with the adults. I'm sure other children worked themselves to their core to try to earn this role, only to have it handed off to someone who had zero experience.

it was an open casting role. So any child could audition. There are plenty of talented little girls who could have played the role of Simba with ease. In theater animals usually are played by either sex. Humans are vastly different.

I feel for the kids with genuine talent; who are spending mornings and evenings before and after school, weekends and nights practicing to just get a role in a local production, let alone the Hollywood Bowl. 🙄 Life certainly isn’t very fair.
What a slap in the face to the actual professionals of this production.
This wasn't North West's fault. It's the adults here. Her parents influenced (or most likely paid) people to hand her the role when she didn't work for it and did not earn it. I will not place any blame on a child because the accountability and responsibility lie with the adults. I'm sure other children worked themselves to their core to try to earn this role, only to have it handed off to someone who had zero experience.
t's a slap in the face to the entire orchestra in the background and trained dancers and singers.
Remember Simba Everything the light touches your parents bought to get you on stage
Lmaooo
😂😂😂😂😂
I see what you did there
Wow, Disney did you approve this??? Whats with the big bird outfit??
It wouldn’t have happened without Disneys approval.
@@crs1474 Exactly, like damn even Disney sold out to the Kardashians
She refused to wear the lion King costume.
@@tnf5438whatever fits your narrative😂😂
@@Kai28600 LOL what narrative?? You don't think Disney took a big payment because I don't know what show you just caught but what I saw was a nepo baby 🤣🤣
Bro be out there looking like sponge bob😂
Even if you’re defending her you need to ADMIT she’s NOT a singer. There’s 10 year olds who are SINGERS. Unfortunately she’s not one for them.
I’m shocked people didn’t get up and leave
Those tickets are extremely expensive is why
@@vocexseta for that exact reason. This is like miss lippys end of school year performance…NOT Hollywood bowl.
This broke eardrums.
Her screaming at the end would've made me cover my ears, get up and leave the place immediately. Watching this on my laptop is making my ears hurt already, holy shit.
Could she be worse?
Wow, I get that you don’t like her family and all, but wow. That’s a kid!!!!
@@1234siyarwho cares, that nepo kid isn’t talented. Another talented child should be there. Kids are not off limits if they want to be in a performance where people pay good money to see talent
@@faith1614 I am not disagreeing with another child should probably have gotten the role instead of her, but come on now, it’s a kid, if you don’t care about grown adults hating on kids, something is wrong with you, give the parents the blame, but a statement like “could she be worse” that’s low, and I will never respect anyone who treats kids like that! Disgusting 🤮
@@1234siyar I'd agree if this was her school play, but it isn't. This is the Big Time & deserving, talented child performers should get the opportunity, not a nepo-baby. Her parents are terrible for doing this to her.
@@1234siyar then she should be in a school play. This is a professional Disney production people pay a lot of money to see and professionals work all their lives to be cast in such high profile productions. It’s an insult to the other performers and to the audience to put this kid up there, not to mention the many talented kids in every city in the world who have grown up taking dancing, singing and drama lessons which this kid obviously hasn’t.
This sounds like a chicken choking 💀
All their family got ZERO tallent
kanye had talent until vultures dropped now you can say what you want about him
@@SammySamSams yeah man his past works were definitely good like no lie he got talent
The only talent Northwest has is being rude. Being spoiled and posing for pictures that is it.
Cringe of the year
I don't understand her costume. It doesn't look anything like a lion cub.
Why is she playing a boy lion anyways?
She looks more like Big Bird 🤦♀️
it was an open casting role. So any child could audition. There are plenty of talented little girls who could have played the role of Simba with ease. In theater animals usually are played by either sex. Humans are vastly different.
as a stage actor - this hurts me.
It's giving JoJo singing traitor in the car 😭
She's awful. sounds like someone killing a crow while a pigeon screams in horror
😂, I wanted to say that, but thanks... I needed more enthusiasm and pazzz
I wasn’t brave enough, so thank you 🫢😂
😮😢😢😅😅
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Shameful. She wasn’t prepared and this performance proves that nepotism helped her get the part over more qualified children.
I hate how this world is.
Yea bruh yall slow for thinkin shorty is gonna end up like a Ye as opposed to her mom dukes 😂 a Kardashian trickin out they own daughter is crazy work i cant lie
Kim’s raising northwest to be just as bad as her - it’s not Northwest fault necessarily it’s her mother
If there was a standing ovation it's because the number ended.
I mean this is obvious nepotism but damn why is everyone dressed so amazing she’s out in a hoodie shorts and slippers? Plus that last high note was a choice. Props to her ginding the courage and getting on stage doing this alot of young kids can’t but it’s sad to see how much talented kids could’ve had this role and they lost it cuz they didn’t have famous parents.
Apparently it’s her own outfit they let her wear 🤦🏼♀️
I think they were trying to minimize body shaming. She's not a dancer.
@@ewest8638 you think? you just make that up or what?
She refused to wear the lion King costume
@@BirdTalk13proof?
I feel so bad for her. What were her parents thinking yo.
NOT KIND parenting !! This is freaking SABOTAGE
Maybe it’s something she wanted to do. But ya they didn’t have to let her. She’s a kid though and people are acting really overboard about this.
@Weeks25 oh I don’t think it’s norths fault AT ALL . She probably just thought she was going to do something fun/cool !
I'd imagine her Beyonce-obsessed mama was seething watching Blue Ivy on the Renaissance tour. I think this was Kim's answer to that...
Don't feel bad for her. She's not a nice person, even at 10.
Cruel to set up a child for failure and bullying.
There's a special place waiting in hell for every decision-making "adult" in the room who committed this crime against that poor little girl.
Thought this was a make a wish kid 😂
STOP
😂😂😂😂
Yeah, she is. She makes her wishes come true with money 😅
@@blissfulluxurylife North West uses Temu?
honestly same
Damn. Maybe Kris will get her a singing coach
REAL 💀
I mean shouldn’t it be Kanye or Kim? Like Kris is just being a grandma with a gazillion grandkids. Also Kanye has connections he couldn’t have got this poor kid some singing lessons with someone at the studio?
She needs more than a singing coach. I mean she needs a whole career change or I dunno education first
Waste of money. That whole family lacks talent.
Someone call Veruca Salt… homegirl is coming for her crown 👑 👑👑
One thing she didn't inherit from her dad is rhythm
This is the first time I thought my little sis could sing better💀✋
when she went “just can’t WAAAAAAAAÆEEEEEEEITTT” AHHHHH THAT HURT
I came here ready to defend her after I saw a video talking about this performance. Their version was muted and I thought "it can't be that bad" but, NOW I understand...😂
She's got the Kanye brain
I don’t know if this is a lion king or a dog show
😂
You ought to QUIT! 😂😂😂😂
“She’s a child” is not an excuse. She should have her enrolled to a school to improve her so called “talent” #practicemakesperfect
Awful, it's hard to watch
This is embarrassing for her, us and the poor professionals working their ass off and then a child gets picked form the audience to jump on and SHOUT 🤯
Im still at the Hollywood Bowl, waiting for North to start singing...
If we ever had a reason to block a celebrity this is a good one.
North West has Kim's talent
Kanye can't sing either. He can rap but he is not a singer.
This is absurd and surreal. Were the producers bribed?
This is so stupid coming from someone who actually does this kinda stuff, kids like me train in dance, vocal coaches, acting classes, improve for years. And to see someone who has little to no experience in this is just crazy.
Money can't buy class nor talent.
No. Nope. No. A. Her “costume” is ridiculous. B. I feel bad for the talented actors who had to put up with this “choice”. C. I feel bad for the talented children who got passed up after all their hard work to learn to sing and dance just so North can put on this stupid yellow hoodie and sing off key and walk around the stage. D. Im really getting tired of seeing rich kids of celebrities being forced down our throats as entertainers when they are not ready to be. E. Im sick altogether of the Kardashians.
North’s bad performance and tacky costume brought down the entire show. I feel bad for the talented characters because their performances were so downplayed.
It’s because she picked the outfit. Nobody can tell north west. “No” she was in charge.
This was absolutely shockingly bad. The children who lost out on this deserve compensation
The people who paid money to see this garbage deserve compensation
Omg I feel so bad for her, her parents should’ve said something and not lied to her like it’s hurting her kid not kim
Man was willing to sit in a queue round the block for your drunk taco bell order and still had to deal with you shit talking him the whole time 😂 Damn I'd have cancelled too
Can we give it up to the background artists because they truly gave it their all. At the very least, they were afforded an opportunity to shine 🥹🙏🏼
With some lessons, I'm sure she could be great. But it's obvious she's had no professional training. I don't blame her. I blame her parents for setting her up for failure.
So as a country, we kicked out the British Royalty, but replaced them with Reality TV royalty. Same, same, but different name. Unearned entitlement.
Ummmm…you live in England or something because we have never gave a fuck about the Royal family. They messy too with all those pedo and incest.
Exactly. Celebrities are the new aristocracy.
what an insult to the rest of the cast and orchestra
This was awful all the way around. Terrible singing, if that what you call it. The costume choice was out of play and direct insult to other actors. I’ll never pay or attend to see North West perform.
The entire REST of the cast is KILLING it, tho! Love to all those dancers and the pit 💕
I also loved the ensemble in this part. Some of the dance moves and interactions made me think of the original Cats.
@@littlesongbird1 I thought the same thing!
Can we talk about those beautiful costumes too the costume designers snapped
The Kardashian Blood is strong on this one
Read a report that said the audience gave a standing ovation and were entertained. I think they just did that because they knew it was finally over
That's how I imagine myself when I sing in the shower and I do a concert all out of tune but in my imagination I'm the best hahaha
🤣🤣🤣
Cmon guys she’s only 10! That being said some kids just need to be told they are crap at something so nobody ever has to listen to the sound of a dying cat crying for help. Girl you was dreadful 😂
😂
Props to the cast and orchestra for adjusting to match her, however unprepared she is
You feel the band was freaking piss off loll
I feel like if north put more effort into dancing and her costume, she would work well. The problem is instead, she just walked around the stage with pajamas on. Waste of a performance.
Add singing to it and you're on the right track
If I didn’t know this was Lion King I would have no idea what her costume is supposed to be.
It says a lot, when my husband asked from the other room "are you listening to a school play or something?"
Don' tell craps. That never happened
I don't want to make fun of her, she's just a kid after all, but I will make fun of her parents who thought this would be a good idea.
Before understanding the whole set-up .. I thought this was a bad summer camp variety show.
Kris is in the audience thinking she'll have to someday hope she makes a bootleg tape.
