G1 Megatron has forever been my favorite Megatron design, but the IDW one is a close second. Basically keeps the essential details and adds a nice coat of black over it.
I actually love that IDW gave him a larger nose. idk it just seems like it fits with his larger build and gives him a distinct face where you can still tell it's him even if he gets reformatted over and over.
This Megatron appeared in Revenge Of The Decepticons, after he was defeated in the All Hail Megatron story arc. His armor is made of ore-13, and armed with a rail gun capable of destroying a city.
Hope a Transformers show in the near future uses this design as the main one for Megs. That railgun is great-looking. Remember, it’s not a stabby, it’s a shooty.

The idea of those cereals is pretty great, because I love sugary cereals and I don't eat them because they are not good, but I hate the art on the boxes. As for the translucent plastic, I would say that it comes down to how harsh it's treated, how thin it is, and how translucent it is. This is why some Beast Wars Predacons fare way worse than others: both Powerpinch and Razorclaw are made of translucent plastic, the reason why the later comes up in the second hand market broken more often than any other Predacon of the same class and in the same places is because those broken pieces were made of a very translucent plastic, were thin enough, and were submitted to a lot of stress due to being articulated parts; whereas Powerpinch doesn't appear broken often due to it's plastic being far more opaque, and very thick in the few places where it's submitted to relatively high stress.
They really used Playmaker's theme from Yu-Gi-Oh Vrains to showcase clear plastic. Generation Toys, yall are wild This is literally the same energy as that news article that had Sans's theme from Undertale in it. Now I wait for a serious video with Dispersion Relation in it. Also Jobby's content is what gives me life.
To answer the questions you had about the original release / my observations (bought mine mid 2018 at $200 AUD):- 1) Yes, batteries were included, thanks to you I know what type I will need. 2)They must have re-designed his waist, because you get a slight twist without having to unplug anything. 3) Apart from the change in plastic, the only thing they added was the blast effect (Do Not Want/Need). 4) Yes, he was packaged in Bomber mode, going to be a pain to re-pack when I have to move. 5) Be really careful of the upper half if you every transform him again, always feels like I'm going to break it, and if they changed the materials... 6) He's still sharp with the original material / design, feels like he's trying to kill me every time I handle him. 7) Could not tell you about OP-EX, bought WJ Commander instead (wish I bought TW Challanger) but WJC goes well with MPM VW Bumblebee.
