This NOT Transformers GRIMLOCK has a funny name...Here's my review of the Planet X PX-C04 CACUS. Three guesses for how you pronounce tha. It's probably what you think. Anyway, this is a third party version of the IDW Transformers version of Grimlock, leader and/or king of the Dinobots. And THIS figure is Planet X's second Grimlock after the Planet X Vulcun, which is one of my favorite Transformers...ever. Does this guy meet that standard? Mostly

Grimlock calling himself "King of the Dinobots" is like Vegeta calling himself the Prince of all Saiyans. There's only 4 of them, you ain't king of shit.
Weeell... There's 6 Dinobots (Officially)... And Grimlock did command a lot of Sharkticons to attack the Quintessons... That, and Grimlock and the rest can combine into Volcanicus... Which is a slightly smarter Grimlock... Let's not forget, Arguing with Grimlock is like Arguing with a Brick Wall that has Fists, so just let him be King of the Dinobots...

This looks like a space marine from 40k, which makes me love it even more.
Like can you imagine? Orks are fighting marines in the battlefield when one of the big bad marines suddenly transforms into a giant dinosaur? God, I love this figure.

I wasn't too into the robot design but holy shit that Trex design is PERFECT. Mixes all the right aesthetics of each incarnation of both Grimlock and T-rex in media to create a beautiful cyber rex! I give this a 4.5/5
These reviews make a bleak life interesting and enjoyable for 10-20 minutes. Really enjoying the return of the "swivel" and the classy articulation segment, never a bad time with a Jobby review

I think he's so big so that he can scale well with MMC's Reformatted line, which is all about large-scale IDW-style figures.
Alas, we don't have any other members of the ScaVengers yet, besides Nickel, but you can at least display him hitting Tarn in the ball-bearings.
Yeah, I think while a bit more MP like he still worked with MMC's IDW stuff since Grimlock is a taller bot (and in a deleted scene of Last Stand Of The Wreckers he was gonna fight Overlord so with how tall MMC's Overlord is this figure fits in). Though they made him smaller in MTMTE they basically made him a raptor sized T-Rex so I still think the scale works.
The only reason I'm waiting on getting Cacus is cause I wanna see if they reveal a MTMTE retool this year.

@@adrianli7559 If/when they do a MTMTE version you get that. It is kind of weird to me that in the comic he has a visor (you can see it in some shots when his eyebrows aren’t in the way) but he’s drawn a lot with the middle piece of the visor not showing. Giving off the no visor vibe

Whats even crazier is that, in the comics Grimlock and his crew actually had beast flesh/shells before fighting shockwave to protect themselves against energon radiation
What a great Dino mode design. The head sculpt looked great and that magnetic feature is pretty unique.
Man that dinosaur mode looks so dang good. And love that little moment of the classic Godzilla music you threw in there. Not necessary but appreciated by a fan of the original film

@15:25 if you rotate the robobuttflaps straight up and down you can just plug in the peg and then twist those. Makes it tons easier

I like the calling out of missing steps during transformation, everyone casually mentions when instructions are unusable but if Fanstoys can start giving us video instructions other companies can step up too.

Cacus is a great figure. I think the best aspect about it is its look which is fitting since it represents Grimlock. You can’t have the leader of the Dinobots looking subpar plus the dinosaur mode is awesome.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has PTSD from Devil Saviour's Mixmaster. I LOVE the look of it-- from the front-- but omfg was that transformation life-changingly difficult. Emgo had to order a 2nd one because he threw his first one across his freaking room.

Great review! As much as I love the way IDW dealt with Grimlock, and the IDW design of the character, and how amazing the appearance and engineering on this figure are, I can't drop that kind of dough. Here's hoping Hasbro does a much cheaper version, at some point . . . .
I actually would like a review of movie grimlock. None of them matched their g1 counterparts and I didn't like grim's cockatiel head, but I still like the knight aesthetic they went for.
Scorn was great. Wish Hasbro would incorporate him more with the Dinobots.
I think that Grimlock is super badass, I just wish he had a more robotic head like Scorn, and like the rest of the dinobots. (Hold up Michael Bay got the others' head right but screwed up Grimlock himself). I hope in future designs the dinosaur head is on the shoulder and not on the back.

To be fair a lot of third party transformers have funny or odd names. I remember this one called banana warrior based on Robots in Disguise Optimus(the one that turned into a fire truck.)
Imma be honest , it's a cool design, but it looks more like a megazord than it does Grimlock.
I love Grimlock so much. The classic design of course not that god awful junkyard flavored play dough vaguely shaped into a dinosaur in the movies though. Between this guy and Vulcan it really makes me sad I stopped collecting transformers.

I really like this design. Especially it’s robot mode I would never use it as my “definitive” grimlock but I sometimes I like a more stylized design
