This is what TH-cam is all about, love the old school engineering workshops, machine and bits lying everywhere. The wealth of knowledge in this one video is incredible.
Informative, professional and from someone who knows nothing about this i could watch more and more. Adam this is what TH-cam used to feel like to me, so please keep up your content mate. Its nice to feel part of something interesting
Gordon is the last of a dying breed...proper old school engine builder etc & with vast knowledge...always interesting & explains everything! Wondering why didn't use B E though
Nice old manual engineering ways and methods are the best, Gordon knows his stuff, not many people like that around these days, block is looking good now Adam
Another great video! I saw you out and about today in the 2 door down near the beach when I was driving my bus!! I got all excited! Shame the passengers weren’t interested😂
Cracking video Adam. The sad fact is though, people with the skills of Gordon are a dying breed, not many youngsters these days wanting to get their hands dirty. They all want to leave school and be professional footballers or managing directors. I work for a company that makes Manipulators for foundries "Impressive bits of kit" and we struggle to get Mechanical and Electrical fitters. Getting a decent apprentice is a bit of a struggle too.
The words I would use are u mate the pistons to the block , loving this build , I started a 500bhp build on a 2.0 zetec turbo , to put in a Escort rs2000 4x4 , with a cossie body kit , I got a few stages on from this , and ended up selling the lot for pennies due to my 1st daughters birth , she’s 15 now , I did get to bring her home from the hospital in the car but sold it all shortly after , some local bloke who had a mondeo 4x4 acquired most of it , gr8 content
Great video Adam. Gordon is a wealth of knowledge and experience. The way he explains the process makes the video more enjoyable,I think anyway. You're doing a great job.
Yes. Inflation running at double up plenty food items and hotel rooms abroad. Price gouging ontop inflation doubling and honest working metal worker business doesn’t even go up 10%. Sad state affairs. And much kudos to home grown normal businesses in the trade keeping things real
Great video Adam that engine will be sweet when finished, even tho You've got your Cossies be nice to have a nice MK2 escort and drop that engine in, especially instead of turboed have it running on 48 carbs would be nuts. 👍
Old school. Top bloke Gordon with his pearls of wisdom. Tremendous content and really interesting watch not unlike miss 1995 black bra that went missing near the end 👍
Adam you can’t want anyone with more experience than Gordon he has done all my engines for my rally cars and also my corsa sport I built my engine a year ago used running in oil and it’s sweet am still using running in oil after 1000 miles and driving sensible just take that guys every word and you will have a good engine that will last
good lad, the technical calendar is not blurred out this time the lads i used to use in the 80s were "thompsons" of sunderland,, one street away from the stadium of light, i had a fleet of pintos to look after, so i have done hundreds of those bottom end rebuilds, sadly they all retired a long time ago - can still smell that stinky cutting fluid aroma are you replacing the coreplugs
Curious what you would do if the previous rebore was bad and out of alignment with the crank - so offset slightly but perpendicular. Or if the block had been bored not perpendicular. The 2nd rebore could get back to perpendicular but it would be offset relying on the first rebore. Love the vids btw.
The bores will always be true and straight due to locating off the bottom face, the only thing that could be out is the spacing between the bores. But the spacing between the bores will be taken up by tolerance built into the rods and pistons I assume. It's a great question though and I’ll ask Gordon when I see him 👍🏼
@@Adam151082 totally agree. Spacing and alignment. If previously bored askew the rebore is picking up off the top of the bore. But will be now perpendicular.
Converting metric to imperial its easier to use 25.4. (Metric size in mm ÷ 25.4)= imperial size. Multiply imperial size x 25.4 to get metric size. Just because its easier.
What cc is the engine after all this work ? Or can’t you say till you have finished the rebuild , size of head gasket etc ? Great video Adam I’m loving this engine rebuild 👌🏻
The cutter is not perfectly concentric with the bore, it should be clocked in (DTI) concentrically & by z plane. The machine is still imperial lol it must be as old as me 😁😁😁 try 40 or 50 yrs old being a Italian machine, they were metric at this time , 0.01mm 4/10ths of a thousandth of a inch oversize is normal on cozzys
Huge Thanks to Gordon for allowing me to film him working.
You can see my first video with Gordon here

😊gordon is a genius. You dont find professionals like him anymore
how much did the engine cost 😂
👍
@@SNAFU.. and buy some newer gear.
41 years experience, what a legend Gordon is
It's refreshing to see somebody explaining stuff In such detail without saying "basically " every other sentence.
Loving the 28 year old calendars on the wall 😂 reminds me of my grandads haulage firm when I was a kid
That floating bikini on Miss 1995 tho!
😂

A pleasure to watch a craftsman at work.
Great to hear him so happy to have his brains picked as a primary historical source.
Exciting upgrade! Watching your COSWORTH ENGINE evolve with bigger pistons is a true automotive enthusiast's delight. 🔧🚗💥

Love this old-school engineering.
I can almost smell that machine shop, fantastic stuff! Very interesting project. Keep it up!
The editing on that 95 model poster was pure class. 😅

Thank you Adam for bringing us along big Gordon is a old school master.
Old guys with old machines with loads of knowledge can’t beat it
What a job Gordon does 👌

Being a cnc Miller, love watching this stuff. Always wondered if you clocked the bores up to take them out, didn't know it was done like that.

Another great video and had me in stitches at the floating bikini you added on the 1995 calendar! Vintage! 😂
Absolutely fantastic as per usual Adam. You should be proud that you’re possibly encouraging younger viewers to get into a good trade . Brilliant

Real interesting content to see stuff being explained and then the machine work being done 👍🏻
Britain used to have many a Gordon grafting away in a shed, sadly loosing valuable people like him. Cracking video Adam.
Yes it costs £120 + vat but your also buying 41 years of experience.
Gordon is a absolute master, shame you covered the topless picture in the background 😂
Adam,I lived near Gordon years ago,he’s a engine genius.Ask him about the cars he’s built over the years .great video 👍
Exciting upgrade! Can't wait to see the power gains and performance with those bigger pistons. 🔥🚗 #COSWORTH
This is the art of cars and all out old school engineering absolutely brilliant video and he certainly knows his craft hats off

120+ vat very good 👍
The world needs more Gordons. Excellent video. I'm interested in what's in the 'fwd' crates 🤔
Could listen to Gordon chat all day. Love this kinda content. Cheers adam.
Really interesting stuff bud love the old machines. Great work on the bikini top on the poster lol.😂
Loved this vid Adam thanks ! Not many magicians left around with the tricks Gordon has !! 👌
What a gent Gordon is for giving his time up.

Fantastic jobs and thank you for showing these skills. Skills like this are dying out. Worth the money when building engines.
Definitely done the right thing having the long stud conversion the Engine is coming along nicely well documented Adam 👍

No way "Barum engine's" do that for £120, surprised didn't get the "deck" a light skim for future protection.
