The first thing you need to do is remove the passenger seat and make sure that the body control module is kept dry. It is in a well under the seat. You will be in all sorts of pain if that gets wet. Good luck with your project! They are fun to work on. You can access the top and the front of the engine through hatches and the plugs, coil packs etc through the rear wheel wells.
Thank you so much for the advice, Sean! 👍🏻 This is extremely valuable information for me because I have no idea how and where to start in terms of working on this car, but I know I'm very excited to work on it, and make it my own! 😁
@@lifeasusual I've managed to do all of the below, on my drive, just using axle stands and standard tools. There's loads of 986 info out there and it's a great community. Fuel Pump replaced Off side rear caliper bottom bolt helicoiled Brake discs and pads all round Brake fluid change Coil packs all changed Fuel level sender replaced PS fluid top up Spark plugs all changed Tank cleaned Top tank O Ring replaced Air filter change Cabin filter change Oil change Oil filter change Alternator replaced Battery replaced Ancilliary belt replaced Bank 1 pre cat O2 sensor replaced Fuel cap replaced Nearside sidelight bulb replaced 3 x radiators replaced (Centre leaking) 2 x Air con condensors replaced Air con dessicator replaced Air con refilled Coolant flushed and replaced Waterpump replaced As I said in my previous post, you need to sort the water ingress first as this will kill your car if it keeps getting wet. It will be blocked drainage holes, leaking door membranes or, possibly, a leaky roof. The carpets hold a LOT of water so will need drying properly. The headlights are quick release so I'd also pop the driver's side out, find the bonnet release cable and reroute that so that you can access it easily if you accidently let the battery die. Behind the tow hook cover in the front bumper works well.
Thank you so much for all of this, Sean! 👍🏻I don't have enough words to describe how thankful I am for all the information and guidance you shared here! It's great that you've managed to do all of these jobs on your driveway! Your guidance will help me a lot when I'll be working on the car! Thanks again! 😊 Keep in touch as I'll definitely need your input in our future videos! 🙌🏻
Thank you so much for your support, Sumeet! It means a lot to us!😊 We're really excited about working on this car, and we hope you will enjoy the series! 😁
Hi Frank, I didn't realise it at the beginning, but after doing a bit of research, it looks like I accidentally bought something rare without realising! 😁
Thank you, Joseph! 😊 I'm really excited for a busy year ahead with working on the Porsche and the Range Rover! And, depending on how we do on these projects, potentially even a third project! 🙏🏻
Hi Kenneth, thank you for joining us on this journey!😁 We are really excited to start working on the car!😃 In a few weeks, I'm planning to make a video and list all the items that are wrong with the car and my plan to repair them, so please stay tuned for that video! I think it will be helpful for us so we can make a plan & a list of what to do with the car! You have a 2002 as well, amazing! 😁 What kind of repairs have you done to yours so far?

Thanks Rob! 👍🏻 I wanted something different from a 4x4 style, as we already have the L322. I didn't think about this one actually, that's a good choice! I have never driven one, would you recommend it? 😊
