When you first set up your Amazon Seller Central account, you are given the option to link it to your existing buying account, or create a new, separate seller account with a new registered email address. Which do you recommend? I am stuck at this point and not sure how to proceed.
Mine have always been separate but I'm not sure of one that is necessarily "better." I tend to separate things so that my business remains my business and my personal stuff remains solely mine

@@Jake-jj3gr some are automatically approved and some you need to provide pictures of invoices of 10 units and pictures of the products received and packaging with your address on it just make sure the product is actually going unlock the whole category not just that product

Your first step is to get ungated in the category as a whole which would open up your account to many new opportunities and brands in that category. Some brands will still be gated though and you will need to get individual invoices for those particular brands if you want to sell on them. Typically they will be the larger brands though and plenty of opportunities will open up once you're ungated in Grocery as a whole though

Winning the buy box is definitely what you want. If you use Keepa as suggested in my videos it can help you to know what you need to price at to win the buy box. As a new seller it will be harder to win the buy box but you can do amazing by following the steps in my videos for researching the products to sell. You don't HAVE to win the buy box to do well with Amazon but it is a big piece of the equation. If you buy the right, profitable products and know/understand Keepa, you will win the buy box more because of that information.

@@AskJimmySmith I just went this route in the last week. I opened a wholesale account, purchased ten units of a single spice SKU, and supplied Amazon with the invoice and pictures. Amazon ungated me in the brand but not in grocery & gourmet foods.
@@beneluxboy You have to apply to be approved in the category as well. Sometimes it takes submitting a couple times to get different support reps. You could open a support case and ask why it's gotten denied since you've done everything required by Amazon's TOS

Typically you will need invoices and not receipts. Sometimes Target online purchases can work from what I've heard. But finding a distributor of products that is authorize will get you the best results

It's part time. As you find unrestricted listings and you send them in, then you get good seller feedback, and you prove to be a good seller over time, then Amazon will begin to open more items to you. Also, since it's currently Q4, Amazon is a lot more strict about restricting brands and categories

If you're buying from Alibaba, you still need a legitimate invoice in case Amazon ever were to re-gate you or if Amazon were to ask for authenticity of your products. Always only buy from legitimate distributors.

You never want to take someone else's images from a different website. I suggest having a product sent to you so you can take the pictures for the listing OR you can use a product photography service if you like but that's an added expense. I don't do a ton of Private Label and we never order from Alibaba anyway. I do arbitrage so I don't have to create listings.

If you don't put your own brand on it, then that would be online arbitrage. However if you're ordering from Alibaba you will want to put your brand on it and make your own listings. That would be called either Private Label or White Label. There is another method called dropshipping but that is direct to the customer and Amazon has very strict rules for that so we've never done that on Amazon before

Well to open up many categories you may need to be a professional seller, that could help for sure. Other than that, the categories in this video are the ones that should be open for you. If you have restrictions in these categories, they may be brand restrictions and not category restrictions

They may not have enough time, maybe they can't find that product in their store anymore, etc. I'm sure there are tons of reasons, ultimately I don't worry about why they would do that. All that matters is that they do and you can provide that service to them by providing profitable products on Amazon for them to purchase :-)
I got unrestriced in Automotive years ago because of lot of auto-repair books were catalogued under Automotive instead of Books. I've never looked into selling anything else in that category, though.
Yes they are - many Amazon sellers get started in books. It may just be the particular books you are checking. Are you looking at New books vs Used books?
I've been in books for seven years. I'd now recommend people NOT to start out in books with any kind of desire to make that their main thing. The reason is that repricing software, the undercutting that goes along with it, and tons of $5.99 Merchant offers, have all made FBA books basically a wasteland of worthless junk. I'm barely treading water with books now, no matter what I try to do with them.

It may take some time for things to update within Amazon - it could also have been the brands you were looking at more than the category

Is AMZ looking for specific quantities of a sku from distributors? OR just 10 of each SKU I submit?
For getting ungated, Amazon requires a minimum of 10 of 1 SKU/ASIN to be purchased from an authorized distributor with an invoice

Yes you can! You need to get the invoice to do so but many new sellers do this with the Grocery category right away!
