If i had the car delivered with a crease that bad in the leather, before I'd even driven the car, I would demand a new seat under warranty. My 981 GT4 seats are perfect after 4 years. I've put exclusive option bolster protectors on this year, but the previous owner didn't and when I got the car in May this year they were perfect.
I’m not sure how a layer of fabric will stop the bolster underneath from creasing more. I will agree that bolster gets rubbed a lot. It should be good for that at least.
Wouldn't steam get out that crease? I would probably fix the crease before putting the bolster protector on, otherwise that piece may just permanently crease in that spot.
Interior mods not complete until you change out that hollow, plastic shift knob! A weighted knob from Raceseng etc. will do away with the cheesy plastic feel of the stock knob and impart a feel of quality. You'll appreciate the momentum and solidity with each gear change. A couple of their offerings style perfectly with the 718 interior.
That definitely shouldn't have left Porsche like that...I worked with alot of seat and interior engineers that released leather covered parts and I know all of them would consider that crease a defect this early in the game.
That memory module is perfect! Definitely worth the work. If you add up the time you spend hitting those buttons and the frustration of forgetting about them...pays for itself!
Nice video! I like the little memory module. I have a Spyder on order and will put one in it (if the local Porsche mechanics won’t program the buttons to be always on).
To install the T-design module it is MUCH easier to just press in the 4 tabs on the sides of the switch box, after removing the side pieces, and pop it up and out vs. what he did here. I did this recently on my 2020 GT4 and it took about 10 minutes, no fumbling. The way it is shown here is VERY difficult by comparision.
That was me that suggested the T9 memory module. I hope it works well! 👍🏻 One thing, if the GT4 is anything like the 991 cars, that switch panel pulls right out. Right after you take the side panels, then pull off the trim ring (yours being carbon) and the rubber gasket below. Then you can simply yank the switch panel straight up.
Use the warranty and get the seat replaced with OEM part from Germany, that's the point of buying car brand new, you get excellent service and don't have to fix anything yourself, you may even get a cool loaner car to drive for a couple of days
I have the GTS 4.0 coming in shortly here in Canada - looks like I can save the auto start/stop and sport exhaust mode to the “individual mode” option on the steering wheel dial. Perhaps this is a 2021 MY update?
Hey Matt, picked up a 2016 GT4. Have you seen the ash tray delete mod from Suncoast? Was wondering if you know of anyone who has done it. It was easy on our Cayenne S but after a brief look this may be more challenging. Any input or website that may help would be appreciated
Archie Hamilton just posted a video about JCR Development’s GT4. I thought Soul made the best sounding exhaust for the car but I think JCR takes the cake now. Give it a watch. (Not trying to promote his channel just wanted to show u the exhaust)
Cannot imagine why you would need a Cellphone mount in a GT4 ????? I had my 981 GT4 and the phone was the last thing I wanted in it! Bunged it in the armrest and picked it out when I got back out!
Hey Matt, if you were to install LWBS recliner/adjuster, which one would you go with? I trust your opinion very much. Personally, I was looking into the TracSpec part.
@@ObsessedGarage wow great..looking forward to see it.. what made you choose the touring over the winged anyway? I maybe be geting a gt3 but by the time I can afford it ll probably be a 992.2.. hehehehhe
great vid, next time "interior improvements", not thinking about the seat tho. Buy new leather from porsche and keep it without the extra patch. As you say, its like ppf, hehe

Today on Obsessed Garage, Matt installs thick plastic covers on the couch and chairs in his living room
Reminds me of everybody loves raymond
Hahaha
Every time Mat says "That's Fricken Awesome" makes me smile.
Surely you can take the car back to Porsche to fix the crease in that bolster, can’t believe they’d give it to you like that
Yeah that would bug me too.
I think it's fine. It will likely wear in. Sometimes the fix is worse than the problem.
@@ObsessedGarage that’s the most experienced response I’ve heard. The dealer can def make it and/or other things worse trying to fix it! Lol
Tell them you want a new seat, because that is what you paid for. The car has 10 miles on it, the seat look like it got 10,000 miles on it 😒

That’s not fabric ... it’s high end leather that’s padded underneath ... that is virtually undetectable go.. Do you have this seat ?
Also, that crease looks bad. I’d have them replace it.
I'd be pissed if they delivered my car with that crease.
I’m surprised he hasnt already tbh
It’s a seat. The crease will appear again after a 50 mile trip. It‘s not that bad.
@@alterego467 no it won't. as others have said, after 4 years -- seats are perfect.

Yep, that what I've done on my 991, but this one wasn't budging.
Where can I get this module?
My problem is I check for my Genesis G70, and there's no decent bolster protectors, nor Red Line cell mounts. 😠 It is CSL + EVOed though. Heh.

I wonder if that cell phone mount will be compatible with the iPhone 12 MagSafe or if they'll have to design a new one.
The video on T-Design9's site shows the entire center switch panel popping off, separate from the rest of the center console.
Yeah, but the 981 appeared to be a little different. I didn't want to risk it.
Congratulations on not breaking (or dropping) anything!
I really dont think you need to pull the ctr console as you did in order to install the memory module...

I friggin love this car
Kind of drives me nuts that the cover fills in the gap (where the carbon shows) that was there from factory
Do all Porsche's come with a legit ashtray and cig lighter?
Tyler smoking package is a $0 option that most people with 981/991 cars get to cover the open cubby which is largely useless anyway.
As he said, it's a free option on the build sheet. So no, not ALL of them do...but its a no cost item.

That Cell phone mount, when your phone is attached, is the cup holder closest to you unusable?
It hits the phone. Those babies that have to carry around water everywhere they go can mount it on the other side.

Can you use the left cup holder? 🤔
