This video includes what you need to know. Remove plastic trip near one of the upper seatbelt connections. You may be able to slide the carpet out. But if not you will need to take the steps to remove the cross bar.
Just taken delivery of 992 Carrera and sounds like a bag of spanners on the motorway. Test drove 4S and Carrera T and drove Base 992 at Silverstone and took that car on the road on the day before I ordered my car and they were quiet by comparison Both test drive cars had only done a few hundred miles. So will do a few 100 more miles in my 992 and see how it sounds.

Pulled the fuse on my 718 S an hour into the drive home from the dealership. The sound was soooo annoying. So much better without it. I like the natural sound. I also can't hear the difference between sport exhaust on vs off.
@@JetFuelOnly The drone I'm referring to is a constant low frequency hum you get when applying light throttle to maintain highway speeds (65-75). It's also there when using cruise control at highway speeds. The drone exists regardless of whether the sport exhaust toggle is on or off. I only just took delivery of my GTS 4.0 so the NA6 is new to me - perhaps what I'm referring to is normal to the nature of this motor? My reference is to my prior base 718 (with the turbo 4) that had noticeably less of this low frequency hum in the same aforementioned conditions.
@@Francis-qj2yf I have a 981 GTS and this noise you're taking about is pretty much normal since you need to apply some light throttle for the purpose of maintaining speeds. It doesn't bother me nor does it sound so bad that I would consider it droning per se, but, basically, yeah not much you can do about it.
Thanks for the great video. I have a question about the Sound Symposer, if it is Vacuum activated, could you not just clip that small vacuum hose shut and it would prevent the valve from opening?

Great video! Would have been nicer if Porsche mimiced VW/Audi and put the soundaktor at the front windshield. Although that would make it seem extra fake since no sound should come from the front. On VW/Audi it can be coded at 10% increments, and I found 30% to be nice.

@ed5616 it’s pretty subjective. I think it may be good for you but some drone is just true exhaust tone. Pretty much anything dense to fill the hole will work.
I have a straight piped 718 boxster, and my car is already so loud the soundaktor has no impact. Also, I had driven my car with it on for over 15000km, and not once did i notice any drone
why do people keep saying it sounds like a Subaru, when Subaru based its design on the Porsche engine? The SUBARU sounds like a Porsche, not the other way around.
If you want one of the weirdest sounds you can make with the Spyder, it’s possible to use just enough throttle to keep the engine in the wild bass drone of cylinder deactivation, but also to activate the sound symposer. 🤣 Both at once is a unique experience. 🤣
@@JetFuelOnly just go out on the freeway and turn off the auto start/stop… make sure to hit the PSE button. Then keep a steady enough throttle for it to get into cyclometer deactivation and the crazy drone that goes with it. Then add just enough throttle slowly to get the sound symposer to open a little. I’ve mostly noticed it when going up a little grade but not as much on flat ground.

Keep the valves exhaust. The valves close to minimize it. Or is there still drone to you?

Ok. Yeah it isn’t so noticeable to me but I know it’s there to an extent. Probably not much you can do about it

Probably? But the other method of stuffing the hole is just simpler and less destructive.

No it doesn’t. The sound symposer continues to operate normally with a valve controller.
what is the solution to drone between 2-3k. i have a Fabspeed lightweight pipe...resonators the answer?
Is it valved? I think that’s the key. Everything I hear replacing the stock muffler is going to make some noise.

But given overall decibels do you have to talk louder ?
From the sound symposer? Since it’s only really working with a lot of throttle it’s short bursts.
But why not removing the fuse instead it's even easier?
The Symposer isn’t electric. There’s no fuse to remove. The Sound Aktor has a fuse though.
@@JetFuelOnly are you sure, the 718 seems to have this fuse, the 7.5a fuse that stop the sounds symposer valve from opening.
