I was surprised he didn’t go with the leather steering wheel. I don’t know if I am alone but those alcantara steering wheels make my hands sweat. With him being in Florida I would have figured for leather. Maybe I am alone on this hand sweating anomaly. Love you channel and have been watching since you were doing these videos for therapy while washing your car. Thanks for continuing even when folks can be ruthless on the internet.
The spec is superb. Hearing all your honest thoughts on the options is fascinating. I didn't realize I wanted a leather steering column now. For me the colored seat belts are awesome. My kids love them. And I am definitely a color gauge guy. I have the red seatbelts and red tach to match.
I laughed when you mentioned matching interior details with exterior colors. I definitely would have gone for a yellow instead of the red marker. But I accept (lol) your explanation with the Porsche logo on the steering wheel.
Yeah, my suggestion, don't do anything till after the garage is built. Even if he doesn't drive it, it could have a nice spot in the back, tucked away.
Dont know if anyone cares but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the new series on InstaFlixxer. I've been watching with my girlfriend recently xD
Thanks for sharing this, Matt. I hope to get a Cayman, probably not the GT4 but coming from a 94 Mustang GT, the base or S will be light years ahead in performance and technology. I go onto the Porsche website about once a week and do a build, tweaking a few things here and there, this video is extremely helpful in realizing some hidden benefits to a particular option.
I almost made the same mistake with the climate control when specing my Cayman. Luckily, I saw your video with the Porsche sales reps and that saved me. So thanks for that :)
Porsche is just such an amazing company. All the options they have for the drivers to select on their ride, looks like a fun experience. :D Expensive af, but fun lol. I feel like no matter what color combo is on a car, a red strip on the steering wheel just makes sense. I remember I watched someone else spec their Porsche a while back, and they lived in Germany so they picked it up for their delivery experience at that giant Porsche factory building. What an amazing building. :O
I'm surprised no visor debadge or replacement with the non-sticker euro versions. Also Matt was a big motivator for my 991 purchase and now my Boxster GTS order. I feel like I owe him for those car ideas and the smile I get every time I use the Kranzle setup.
Matt, what option, if available gets the settings you can make with the small round selector attached to the steering wheel at the 4 o’clock position coming off the steering wheel hub/air bag assembly area. It is what sport and some other settings you can make from the steering wheel? Thank you! That color combo is wonderful! Congrats on another great Porsche! Sold my M3 CS due to the crank hub issue. I didn’t want to buy a new engine right when the car came out of warranty. Now l have dedicated the empty garage bay to a BMW R18 motorcycle and future GT3!
@@ObsessedGarage Oh, wow! Ok... thanks. I learn something new every day about Porsche. I was 31 years old when I finally found out how to pronounce the name correctly. I couldn't believe it when the guy told me.
Nice review, thanks. What you do not mention is how loud the car is inside especially with the semi-slick tyres on. This makes any costly sound system in my view obsolete. As you are using this car for riding around town and locally you might have been happier with the regular sportseats. The bucket seats are very comfortable even on long trips but are a nuisance for getting in and out. Over here in Germany, the clubsport package with the rollbar is a must as customers seem to be using this car more on track than in town and it helps keeping a better aftersales value. I love your workshop/garage, too. Take care.
lol I’m only considering my 718 Spyder with yellow seatbelts to match the yellow pccb’s. Any paint color that pushes you to go black with the pccb’s then it doesn’t matter. But match yellow to yellow in these the same way you’d match the green on a 918.
Get a stroker built by Steve Dinan from Carbahn for the M3! A 4.6 paired with that exhaust and the Eventuri plenum would sound insane. I feel like a supercharger is not your style and you would probably lose out on the induction noise. You could also toss in some 284/292 Schrick cams and that would be one of the best sounding cars. The stroker motors actually benefit from cams since they make peak power just under 8,000 rpm.
Wow thank you. Great information! You really helped me with specifying my car. I had no idea that Aluminum Pedals would be /more/ grippy?? Wouldn’t metal on a wet shoe fly off and cause mass destruction? They would look so cool though. Classy. How does it work? Also, you love full leather as i do. But you have kept the alcantara-racetex on the steering wheel and shifter. How was that decision made? Concerned it looks bad after driving just about daily as i will.
Funny you say the Aluminum pedals aren't an easy mod to do after the fact. The Porsche option is simply stuck on with double sided tape. You can find many videos of people complaining about them falling off. They do look nice though.
08:30 it does to me, idk why but i just feel like its too much to have them in different colours. If one it black or white or the other way around its fine. But i would never have a green car with yellow calipers and red seatbelts for example. Just too much
I don't think they are easy to find. Most Porsche guys keep their take offs. Most of the time they keep their stock wheels, and usually don't do aftermarket.
@@ObsessedGarage Interesting. I think this new Gentian Blue looks better actually (on photos at least... have not seen it in person yet) than the Sapphire Blue (my GT3 is Sapphire Blue). Great new car.... enjoy it!
I'm amazed that Porsche still doesn't offer a mobile phone holder as official accessory. 🤔 Radar holder I understand bcs its illegal in several states / countries.
Any thoughts of doing a “give away” of the M3? Seems more financially prudent to give them away than sell them. It’s a perfect spec, with perfect mods!
Nice build overview. Missed the video with the R7 hardwire. Where is it at? You have like 1000 hours of gt4 footage 🤣 no complaints about that. 💪🏻 Re: Porsche logo in black. Looks slick despite very hard to see in person. On spyders the “spyder” logo on the side of humps is chrome and No option to change it. Sucks. Then you would get mismatching badges which can trigger obsessing about it. Most people cant tell. But you cant unsee it
i love the leather steering wheel column
So many great interiors don't have the option, so you get plastic, like I have. Ugh
@@ccwnyc5671 i also adore the leather seat back in the 911s and extended leather options such as vents and sportchrono clock.

Man, that color gets me every time. I feel like whatever car my "dream car" ends up being in the future, it has to be that color.
Beautiful car. This video has given me the best view of the 718 GT4 than any other I’ve seen, looks crazy good

@Kaiser Castiel yup, I've been using instaflixxer for since november myself :D
The Spyder gets the Burmester. And the multi-function steering wheel. :)
PS: Buy some 2way seats if you're going to daily this car.
Porsche offer an explanation of why the Spyder gets it but not the regular GT4?

Good point. I need to get that done.
Gotta get those windows tinted 20% and opt for black side mirror caps. I like when they blend into the windows.
“Any chrome I can eliminate in my life is a good thing” I am with you on that one. I hate chrome on a sports car or most any car honestly.

Why do you wish the GT3 is in the Gentian Blue and GT4 in white?
It's a bit strange that both the 718 Spyder and the regular Cayman models have the option of the Burmester system but the GT4 doesn't.
Matt, do a video on the seats and how to get in and out. I have a 981 gt4 with cf buckets, so I know how to do it, but could be an interesting topic.
Looking at a used GT4 in this exact spec except the rims are silver(or satin maybe?) Is it easy to find these gunmetal wheels to swapout?
I don't think they are easy to find. Most Porsche guys keep their take offs. Most of the time they keep their stock wheels, and usually don't do aftermarket.
Is the black instrument cluster background an option to spec? Don’t see it on the configurator.
No, it's standard.
I guess the tall gearing isn't a deal breaker?
Hey Matt, what’s the easiest way to get rid of scratches in my carbon fiber roof? Recently my carbon fiber roof got damaged by bird shit
Light scratches and/or etching I'd do a couple of passes with Perfect Finish. Heavy scratches Jesscar Correcting Compound followed by Perfect Finish.

Porsche make more money from add ons compared to the actual cost of the cars. Unreal
How is the legroom and overall fit Vs. the 991 GT3? I am a tall guy like you and my GT3 is good...but I REALLY like the GT4.
I think they are identical. Tons of room. I'm 6'2" and have the seat up quite a bit from the furthest back position.
