Thanks so much man for this detailed video. I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant that started fine but would die after 3-5 seconds no matter what. Found this video, followed your instructions and it fixed it right up! You saved me a good amount of time and money. Most appreciated.
DAD2308 I'm glad it helped! there weren't too many videos of this when I needed it, it truly makes a big difference in performance. So I posted a video for everyone to see. Thanks and have a great day! Mine is still working today as we speak.
I have the same problem on a Galant 2.0 1997. I changed the sensor but still nitot working...Very heavy missfire and stil check engine light on...help?
Andrei Alex if this isn't your fix there's a few things to consider. Milage: manual suggest a timing belt to be done every 60,000 to 100,000 miles for maintenence which can display these symptoms if your timing is bad. This engine has a water pump that is link to the timing so they should be replaced at the same time with the balancer belt. Secondly, consider the Crank shaft positioner sensor which is a lot harder to get to but should be done during the timing belt job anyway. Lastly, consider taking it to auto zone if you can drive it safely their to diagnose the check engine light and what it means. This is your best option to prevent waste of time and parts unnecessary to the problem. If you can't drive your car to auto zone, see if you can get a ride their and "rent," and OBD2 Scanner. I forgot how much they cost but you give them the money it would cost to buy one then you borrow the item from them. Once you return it, they give you 100% of your money back. It's free 100%
Awesome, thanks for this, helped me find it on my Outlander. The 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander has it in the same general location bit it is set vertically instead of horizontally like on your Galant.
How did your car run before u changed that. I have a 03 galant and when it starts up it idles ruff like it's got a big racing cam in it and when u hit the throttle it will bog down or shut off
I had code Po340 and replaced my camshaft position sensor with aftermarket and didn’t work can it be a bad fuse or do I need the OEM part I order to make it turn on
When you replace your part was your battery disconnected? If it was you might have a bad replacement for a contaminated one but my car did fine with an aftermarket, I will also add if you do clean your engine and any type of water touches it it will be contaminated immediately
I change it and my car still won't start it tries to but the engine just shakes and stops. Do I need to do something to let the computer know that it is on
Anyone out there who knows the fuel system on the eclipse get 3.0 I put a new fuel pump in it and and a new fuel relays and it still won't start the pump is not turning on when I turn the key on the on position when I crank it it goes to fire but won't any ideas?
Gilbert Mills literally am experiencing the exact same problem right now with my 2000 Mitsubishi Galant ES 2.4. what was the fix if you don't mind me asking? Literally just replaced a whole new fuel pump(housing assembly and all) and a new fuel pump and still will not start up. She cranks but doesn't start. Please help if you can! Much appreciated!
i added a new fuel pump to my 2001 galant also and had the same problem. i sprayed starter fluid into the throttle body and kept cranking it until it finally started and idled. now it cranks and runs good.

I'm glad it helped. It can make a world of difference in performancr when the car needs it.

I have an 01 Mitsubishi eclipse gt with the same problem
does anyone know what does the sensor do
It communicated with the engine computer about the ignition and fuel injection times for the the engine requires to run properly.
If you get the code P0340 it is this sensor.
