Nothing compares to a Martin, particularly from this era. Thank you for sharing these treasures with us.
Great playing and sound,my friend
Thank you very much for watching my friend! Man, I need to get over there, and some of us hit the shops together, B&H, B&C and Marklund. I’m loving my Marklund! It would be really cool to get to hang out sometime.
Thanks Shawn! looks like I may end up owning this exact beautiful D18 in Australia. Can’t wait! Love the tone and playing. Jeff Mallia is looking over it for me.
Man I know one thing, it sure has the sound in spades! I hope the transaction works out for you, as this is sure a wonderful sounding instrument! Please let me know if you end up with it, I may try to hunt you down someday lol. 😎
@@ShawnBrockMusic I am trading up a perfect 65 D28 and a ‘beat but sweet’ 59 00-18 plus a significant load of cash; It’s expensive but I just want to own one incredible instrument that speaks to the soul. It sounds as though you’d happily do the same.
@@guitarwithtom6041 well, you have to think about it this way, you’re only spending the money once, and you are buying your sound; that is a pretty significant thing for people like us. I remember the first time I spent $4000 on a guitar, and I kept thinking, what have I done? But every time I played that thing, and compared it to anything else, I knew I had made the right decision. After that, the numbers kept creeping up lol. I guess gamblers have the same problem lol. You can’t put a dollar amount on happiness, or at least that’s what I tell myself to justify this stuff. 😂
Hahaha, yes, had that same experience and those numbers do creep up 🤦🏻🤣
You’ve had your hands a on a few 40s D18’s now. Where do you see this one sit in terms of sound and feel compared with the others? It seems this one is wonderfully ‘dry, huge and chimey’ ; I mean, is this one what you would consider ‘special’ or more a general representative of a wartime dread? Thanks again Shawn!
@@guitarwithtom6041 I have played quite a few wartime and prewar, and I would rank this up there with the best of them any day. Personally, I really like the look as well.
Incredible playing..Great tone/resonance/volume/bass...talk about muscle memory....Wish I could play and never look where I am on the fret board.
Oh Bill, man I’m sure you can! If I can, I’m certain anyone else could pass me with ease.
@@ShawnBrockMusic No I can't do that...and definitely there are very few that could pass you and your playing ability.
