I may be the only person that actually loves this car from start to finish, I love the grill I love the side exterior of the car and even the back of it and im crazy about that 440i m performance interior and exterior colour, the bhp and torque is nothing to complain about either and also the addition of rear wheel drive versions! The only thing i'd probably wish for is the release of a manual gearstick version that would be so dope! hope one day I can be able to get my hands on one of these for real.
OK, first off: Thomas, you look really well in a tight-fitting T-shirt. Second, I for one, prefer the number plate over this grill. As you point out, it breaks the massive space and saves the look.
A comparison between the 4-Series and 8-Series coupe and/or convertible would be interesting. The question is what is the case for upgrading to the 8-Series?
The side (it looks like a C class coupe or Mustang) doesnt match with the front, that is the problem. Also I think the grill in the "M" version looks better than the base model like this.
Agreed. For me, the side profile takes me back to my childhood when my aunt bought a new 1970 Mustang Fastback. Nice mustang but this is supposed to be a BMW!
Great car! Great interior! Great technology! But, the front design is why CEOs and Designers should be fired. Seriously. Everybody has complained about the grill going to big and they authorize an even bigger one. Sales will be a disaster.

Hey Thomas, I’m from Australia. I need your advice on choosing between AUDI A5 coupe and B W 4 coupe. In my mind, BMW has more sporty look than AUDI, especially the curve in the back. Whereas AUDI coupe still maintains curve of sedan and it makes more of elegance look. However, AUDI cockpit never fail to disappoint the driver but I don’t know much about BMW new cockpit design. I’m, in fact, looking for sporty design like JAGUARS F TYPR, but it is way above my budget. So I finalised AUDI vs BMW. In your view, which car has more sporty look and which cockpit is more interactive with driver? Thanks Htet
I would buy a new 4 series, I really would.... But I just can’t get past this grille, I just can’t. If they had gone more conservative with the grille, this thing would sell like hot cakes

Finally the 4 series got ventilated seats as well... they were not available in the previous version. So when I‘m shopping for my next car, it may as well be a 4 series (gran) coupé.

Agree with you with the exhaust pipes but a 6 cylinder has nothing to do with a 4 pot. Cannot wait to see the grill with my own eyes. I’m not Thomas, although, I’d take the Carrera. You’re getting a brilliant experience, Porsche interior and exterior quality. But, whatever you go for, they’re both brilliant vehicles.

I like the base model 430i's (non M-Sport) fascia more because I find it looks closer to the M4 with the bottom intake section. The M440i/M-Sport versions have this inverted extra lower section below the kidneys which makes the whole grille looks even bigger and bulkier to me, almost like it's grinning and It just makes it look worse imo. But yeah, one year later and I think the big beaver teeth grille has grown on me.
Is it possible to get a background picture ( not a black background ) in your own choice if you use apple car play? i mean i saw u can choose the original iphone background which the same is in your phone? The RWD M440i is only available in the US for sure? European Cars has always the xdrive system right?
Hi Thomas, I have a question for you: when the car is in Comfort Mode is the rev counter ( rpm counter ) still available? I’ve seen in all the BMW cars with Mild Hybrid engine there’s only a throttle input measurement on the dash. Is this right part of the display configurable from the car settings? It would be a shame to see the rpm only in sport mode... 😄

I prefer the look of the 330i no question, the M Performance model has too many fussy details, fake vents etc. That is not the BMW way! Shame the 6 cylinder is only available in the M Performance model now too. I’m not against change, I just think you can have change without losing your character. The side rear windows should have stuck with the Höffmeister knick for example. The new grille doesn’t really gel with the car. It doesn’t align with the headlights or anything else. Plus, it’s detailing is heavy handed: overly thick outer surround, clumsy inserts. Overall, a well proportioned, handsome car spoilt by poor detailing. My worry is, even if I’m OK with the design, others really hate it. What will that do to depreciation? Finally, why is it yet bigger again? Not to mention heavier in some versions? I think this new size would not fit my standard size garage. BMW’s coupés are always my favourite BMWs and mostly this seems great, just a few things put me off. Thanks for an interesting tour of the new 4 Thomas 😊

I’m not a fan of the kombi (cluster) graphics. I prefer my older classic style bmw cluster dials. Good to hear the steering feel has improved. This is a tinfoil theory you displayed. 😂 If you actually look around, you will actually notice people who like the grille, so It is not "absolutely everyone." Not everyone jumps on the bandwagon. People have differing opinions, and are allowed to express them...whether or not you agree with them. People are not suddenly "owned" when having an unpopular opinion. He did not even say that he liked it. He just called it unique-which it is. The role of a journalist is not to whinge about the design and circle jerk people, it is to report on the vehicle by informing us on the objective aspects of it. Thoughts on the grille is not objective, it is subjective no matter how polarizing it is. It seems like you are not looking for an objective review, you are looking for someone who agrees with your subjective opinion for validation. Very sad. Just FYI, I am not a fan of the grille either. Don't go all tinfoil on me.
Stunning design! Welcome to the future ;) Huge improvement also in terms of built quality! I'm 100 percent sure BMW's current strategy (includes offering multiple drive technologies simultaneously) will pay off in the long run. Denying trends may lead to further problems as we see with Audi..
Agree with many others here, I really do not like the grille. I’d prefer the M340i - but that doesn’t offer ventilated seats, so pass for me. Better of with the Audi S5.
the 430i base looks better than the m performance and m-sport front....I wish they'd stop with the M-performance and let people get understated cars with the big motors.
I’ve mixed feelings about this car everything looks good but not only the grill is bothering me but also the rear window shape which is losing its identity but for the rest I am totally great whit this car in some angles it looks very beautiful and then again not but I’ll try finding one in real life anyways thanks for reviewing it

The shape looks too much like a mustang from the side of the car, the nose without a doubt bmw design failure of all time. Thumbs up for low sales and up to a whole new model ASAP!
a few other channels on youtube did a comparison and found their side profiles to be almost 100% match, which is a real shame. BMW should not look like an American mustang..

the only problem of this car... is the front plate mandatory in Europe! i wonder if there has been for instance a bank robbery where the escape by car was in rear gear 😂🤣😂
At first I wasn't keen on the new grille. But it grows on you. My first thought was not retro BMW but Bugatti. I like the front end of the 440i. Not so keen on the side profile. The rear of the 330i just looks too plain. The 4401 rear end looks much better. Quality - the wrap of the leather on the standard seat in the 330i at shoulder height is very poor. Looks cheap and not good enough for a car at this price level.. The seats in the 440i look far better quality. Thomas- I can never quite understand your aversion to leather trim - we slaughter millions of animals for their meat - why not make use of the hides as well? But, each to their own view. I like your presentation in your reviews. I own a Mark 2 Jaguar XF 2.0D - I look forward to your review of the 2021 updated version. Hoping the infotainment system is a big improvement.
Unlike the that of there 7 series I actually like this grille. It's pretty weird, sure but somehow makes it look like it's was designed by humans and not an algorithm.

That front clip is so ugly.
At first I wasn't keen on the new grille. But it grows on you. My first thought was not retro BMW but Bugatti. I like the front end of the 440i. Not so keen on the side profile. The rear of the 330i just looks too plain. The 4401 rear end looks much better.
Quality - the wrap of the leather on the standard seat in the 330i at shoulder height is very poor. Looks cheap and not good enough for a car at this price level.. The seats in the 440i look far better quality.
Thomas- I can never quite understand your aversion to leather trim - we slaughter millions of animals for their meat - why not make use of the hides as well? But, each to their own view.
