The grand daddy of them all was the Tamiya Bruiser/Hilux of the mid 1980s. The TF2 is what the Tamiya could have evolved into. Interestingly, the TF2 Mojave body is exactly the same dimensions as the Tamiya Hilux body and the mounting holes line up. A popular upgrade is to swap in a Tamiya Hilux grill assembly for the round headlights.

What a magical ride!
I love the incongruous presence of what appears to be a steel water main running through such a timeless forest.
Strangely, it doesn't ruin the scale believability of the scene at all - it just looks like a giant pipeline.
The TF2 is gorgeous, and effortlessly deals with each obstacle with a sort of stately inevitability, with 5:32 being a good example.

Thank you very much Del. The terrain near the pipe is really good so it was inevitable it would appear in shot at some point so I decided not to worry about it. I'm always impressed with this truck, and how well it performs with its leaf spring suspension. I thought the terrain you mentioned was going to be at least a two or three shot take, and I was surprised how effortlessly it climbed it first time. I took my MST FJ for its first run there the next day and I'll upload that video on Friday 😀👍🏼

It's one of those classics still sold. One day might get one to add to the crawler collection, the enjoyment is the how different trucks perform. Crusty bodies are nice, another thing I will have to try that as well one day.

@@hollyhillrc My trouble is I'm colour blind and it affects how I paint. I struggle to see shades and do not know when enough is enough. I will try as I have a kit planed for the winter that weathering would suit.

Wow mate, for me this was possibly your best video so far. That scale journey was just so believable with endless obstacles and things of interest to see, with so many beautiful angles on the truck. What a brilliant edit..👍🏻👍🏻. The truck - what can I say ? I love the orange and white combo and the subtle weathering was spot on. Nice Video, The TF2 is never not going to be a great plateform, i was an Axial based guy!! until i got my First RC4WD (2015 D90 Kit). that was the begining, i know have 3 TF2's, a Blazer and the D90 and i am sure more to come.

Thanks Pete. Yes this is the new area a couple of miles down the road. My usual playground became extremely popular for people and their daily exercise during the pandemic, and has remained as popular ever since. It's become more difficult to get decent footage without someone, or a dog walking in frame. It's not always like that but it's quieter in this new area, and it has some good terrain for trail videos. I've made a few videos there now.
